Nicely done! Grew up on Lawrence Street in Rahway but been gone since 1997. Its amazing how different downtown looks now compared to the 80s and 90s. Thanks for the memories. RHS Class of 1990!

Stayed in Rahway for 2 weeks for work, there was absolutely nothing to do other than take a 40 min train to ny penn.

If you do stop by again, you definitely need to check out La Chula, The Waiting Room, Hugo’s has really good food. And a few other stops in the downtown area.

I like the part where you say people fish in The lake at Rahway River Park, Tee Hee, this is the other side of the county, the soprano's live here, I wonder what the average cost of a house in Scotch Plains or Watchung costs these days.

The shops in the shopping area off St. George Ave has 1) Ming Feng Chinese Restaurant, 2) InStyle Hair Salon, 3) Plum Tomato Italian Food shop, 4) Rahway Farms green grocer with excellent produce and prices, 5) Dollar Tree, 6) Eye Care Optometrist, 7) UPS Store (so helpful there), 8) Bagel Shop, 9) Nail and Spa salon, 10) 7-Eleven, 11) Skaffs Pharmacy, 12) Subway, 13) Bank of America. Next Door is the American Legion which holds many events for the community. Witty's Liquor store is one block away as is CVS and Walgreens. There isn't much else I ever need.

That shopping plaza has everything! It’s super nice that you’re also walking distance from the train station and downtown area. Thank you for adding this info!

I’m surprised you don’t think the park is big. It’s a pretty nice size. It’s not a central or Prospect park, but it still a pretty big park. Anyway, this was a solid video.

Definitely, the park is a pretty nice size! Not like Central Park like you said or Warinanco, but still has lots to do. Really love hanging out there with our dogs!

Rahway also has the Milton Lake park area. Both this and Rahway Park were designed by the Olmsted Brothers Company, as was Warinanco Park and many other's in Union County.

Rahway is an overpriced Mayberry which pretends to be NYC because of some train tracks

The downtown has really been changing over the years, still has that small-town feel, but there’s definitely more development happening with the train access.

NYC Suburb?? This is a little too far to be one. That’s like weehawken, Montclair, Hoboken, etc.
@RelocateNewJersey9 ай бұрын
Hey Kat! All of Union County is considered part of the NYC suburbs. In fact, from Rahway, since there’s a direct train line to NYC Penn Station, it takes about the same time to get there as it does to drive from Montclair.

Anything within a metropolitan area is a suburb of the central city. The cities you listed are satellite cities, characteristically urban areas that border the central city.

Rahway Native here, yes they considered it a bedroom community of NYC these suburbs are right outside of NY. Directly across from Staten Island if you look at a map. We always took the train and bus straight to 42nd street from the Rahway Train station.
