Jonell Elliot is a brilliantly superb voice actress. I also really liked Werner and Jean's voice actor's who were in all three games, although Jean was changed to Charles Kane in Chronicles. Joss Ackland was stellar as the Alchemist Peter von Eckhardt in The Angel of Darkness. He was also in the movie Moscow Zero (2006). Great channel here!

@@MMAproAtGOLF Nopes it didn't kill core. Core was already getting sidelined and they were given short deadline to finish it up. Also if you think no one loved AOD then you probably never saw those restoration projects by the community. So much effort and time was getting out in by fans to fix it. Just create a poll on TRLE on whether the game was bad due to bugs or whether it was bad due to story, environment and characters. You'll definitely get the answer.

@@MMAproAtGOLF It's a lot like TR3 imo. On PlayStation, it was beautiful and had a great vibe, but the gameplay was horrible. Sometimes the feel sticks with you so much stronger than the pitfalls of the game itself. That's how I feel about AoD. Was it awkward? Absolutely. But it also had a lot of heart and you could feel that.

Slide to run is likely an animation known in TRLE where Lara can continue running right after finishing slide of a slippery slope which normally ends with a slight stumble animation in the OG game. It's a known Quality of Life enhancement added to latest TRLE levels.

I'm so excited for Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. I'm not expecting more than some of the restored content, fixed controls and new textures, which is honestly what the game needs. The only thing it could be lacking in the end is the lighting from the original, because they're most likely using the same engine for every remaster. Hopefully they'll change stuff, like having the Muller dialogue happen after Boaz is thrown into the pod and not before too. I love your content, especially when it's about Angel of Darkness!

I’m very excited too see what they will do with AOD. Hoping they might have got the people from the restoration project on board. Also I’m just ecstatic that Lara finally has her holster straps in the last revelation. It always bothered the hell out of me that she has them in the FMV’s but not the gameplay. I think it was some type of texture bug originally I’m not sure. Crazy excited for this one (dare I say it, more so than 1-3 remastered)

@@AvidZKTJoagreed! It would make the most sense I’m sure of it, I’ve already played the restoration mod and it completely elevates the overall package. It answers a lot of questions that some people may have had from the original. At this point I would say that Aspyr would be daft not to get them on board. As for the graphics however they look exactly the same but I have hope that they may be holding back on having a full reveal until later when it’s fully finished.

Judging by what we've seen so far, I'd say at the time of them preparing for the announcement that they have spent quite a lot of time on TR4, some time on TR5 and very little time on TR6. I expect the bulk of work on TR6 will happen between now and Feb. It's exciting that over 20 years later and lamenting over what could have been, it's finally happening!

Tomb Raider 4 and 5 were my first full TR games, so I'm super excited for this. I've actually been modding TR1-3R to feel more like the later titles (also including some TR3, my first TR demo and intro to the series) to maximize my nostalgia; in fact, before these remasters, I was waiting for someone to remake the original trilogy in TRLE, with Chronicles' updated graphics, sounds and all. If XProger and team have more budget and time, they might even be able to slip in a remastered TRLE, which would've been cool.

the "fog of war" was used in games of that age in order to cull out the most distant polygonal density so the final polygons to be rendered was smaller, and so renderable for the more limited hardware on which that the game had to run on, the Ps1, the PC didn't have this problem, but the renderer was primarily done for the Ps1.

Like what you said, these games are still in development, and like I-III patches were still being added after release and the reveal trailer was showing “beta” footage for those games. So anything that might not look completely changed or as expected in the new trailer, I’m sure will be updated by release or maybe in patches after release. My first Tomb Raider game ever was Chronicles, which I love and still replay yearly to this day! I went a bit backwards by playing the games in reverse order by playing the fifth, fourth, third game etc all the way to the first. I love them all and am super excited for the next remaster instalments!

Kinda the same here. While I did play the demos of the earlier titles, I didn't experience a full TR game till my parents got me TLR and, soon after, TRC on the Dreamcast. I feel like a kid again just seeing this trailer. I'm currently modding TR1-3R to feel more like the later titles, which seems to help maximize my nostalgia. I literally have Jonell's voice and the darker teal leotard in the OG trilogy. If only I can have dashing in TR 1 and 2 as well, heh.

TR5 no stress trophy might be referring to bumping lara against the walls. She breathes more rapidly when she crashes. That's why we have to avoid bumping, specially when she's rushing back to the submarine. When she's under stress, her air meter drops faster

Didn't even feel like half an hour... time flies when you're having fun! Also, love your description :D As for the scrolls in the lost library, it also took me a long time to realize what they were (might've been thanks to some TRLE even), but one cool thing I noticed about them in the remaster is that they aren't identical - in the original the textures are repeating, but in the remaster the number of scrolls differ in each section. It's a nice detail! Also I think you can kill Ammit in the original. Either I did it or watched someone else do it. I guess you don't see it often because it's faster and easier to reload than go through the fight and then try again :D Ha, and I actually don't enjoy the Rome section in Chronicles that much either. I mean, Larson and Pierre are amazing, but the gameplay and location themselves just didn't feel that interesting compared to the rest of the game. Not bad, just not much new and exciting. The remaster might change my mind too :D Oh and Ireland... I'm excited for Ireland as much as I'm dreading it, it's gonna be so creepy! And thanks for the AoD analysis, I admit I haven't seen many differences at all, but I also think they're far from finished. Yeah, the biodome should look absolutely fantastic in the end! And Karel in the dossiers - great point! They should add the option to look at all the photos. Maybe simply make the dossier interactable, preferably repeatedly.

Omg no wayyyyy! I finally purchased 1-3 remaster last night! I’m so excited for Angel of Darkness! I remember how janky it was, and never beat it as a kid, but absolutely LOVED the story. I watched my dad play and beat it. I tend to enjoy when a game explores the classic elements: earth, air, fire, water. It reminds me of the Thief games a bit in that aspect (another series I’m dying to replay from my childhood) I’m so happy these games are being remastered! Incredibly nostalgic, especially TR3.

To me Chronicles is my love even though I've spent more time on TR2 and TR4. All those past stories of Lara in Chronicles added so much value in my heart for Lara. Also it was a time when I thought this is it for Lara and she's not xoming back.

I really like what I've seen so far! More things will be done to these games before release, so what we're going to end up with I have every faith will look fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished Egypt and Rome. Regarding Lara's sunglasses, I believe they've done that so they match the FMV, as they're also the same colour there. It's interesting they've kept her having just the HK Gun and her model doesn't even have the holsters for them, given she had her pistols in all the VCI FMVs, but I guess they didn't want to alter the gameplay and keeping the holsters would just probably annoy people who would ask why she didn't have the pistols if she still had the holsters. I'm wondering if most of the focus was in updating TLR and Chronicles first and AoD last, and that's why AoD looks the least changed at this stage. They've implemented a new Lara model, and that lines her up visually with the Lara in TLR and Chronicles. I wonder if that also means we'll get costume changes in these games like we do in 1-3 Remastered. My guess about "Devourer of the Devourer" is that you have to get a water puzzle wrong, release Ammit and then 'kill' it to reset the puzzle. We're also getting the Times Exclusive Level judging by the trophy list.

CHEEERS fellow raiders! I am so beyond in shock we got what we asked for. I'm most excited for AOD obviously to see what upgrades and cut content they will restore! Whats strange to me however is how AOD seems to be running on the same engine as TR4-5 but combined elements with the next gen engine, I wonder if that means gameplay will be like the alpha version of AOD with dual pistols, no strength meter, and restored gameplay moves (sprint jump, melee combat, etc)

You could always kill Ahmet, it was just a huge bullet sponge xD And there wasn't a stress meter in the TR5 diving section, but the more You bumped into things, the faster Lara's breathing got (and I think it also affected how quickly the air meter went down on the way back...)

if you look at the bio research facility part of the trailer (hanging from the pipe) you can still see the dead roly poly's on the floor, which would indicate that enemies don't blink and disappear anymore after killing them.

They didn't add skeleton enemy in AOD level, I just replayed AOD and had 3 of them somehow in that room heh I hope they improve AOD flames, they look a bit blurry, oh and also Lara's glasses in TRC VCI levels should be darker. Can't believe they are doing it, so excited to revisit those 3 games! I actually loved TRC too even if it was short and a bit buggy, can't wait to revisit those atmospheric Island levels, and I wonder how young Lara will look aw.. xD P.S. If they would integrate Restoration Project for AOD and extend/improve upon it, it would be beyond awesome together with other tweaks and fixes they will do.

Hopefully they fix AOD up good. The story was so good in it, it's a bummer that most people couldn't get over the bad controls. It's a shame that we probably won't be seeing the cut levels return because I feel like the game needed some more levels, but if they can fix the controls and restore a handful of cut features, then it would be a lot more unified.

The date of the VCI missions could also be the 9th of May, considering VCI is in New York City and that is the US-format. So... it's still up for debate, but at least we've narrowed it down to between May & September of 98'! 😝

I grew up with TR games and of course loved the 1st and LOVED the 4th, (next comes 2, 5 and 3 of the games until Legend, Anniversary & Underworld era, NOT the AoD and not the 2013, Rise of TR etc), the old ones. I wonder if some kind of Anniversary edition for TR4 The Last Revelation (even how many.. 25-26 years after the original release?) is a bad idea or not, I mean a totally new TR4:Anniversary game like the TR1:Anniversary the first one, just imagine a version of TR4 which combines the magic of the whole game in Egypt with new riddles, new moves, new levels, new graphics and sound, bigger or not but ... not a remastered version of it and of course with not the hardware limitations of 1999 like then. It might be too late for that, isn't it (??) because as far as I understand and if it's right, even the remaster versions are created by users and not by companies.

Definitely too late for that I’m afraid. Companies do indeed make these remasters - Saber Interactive are the developers for Aspyr - the publishers, they just happened to have done the smart thing and employed a lot of talented TR fans.

I agree that OLD tomb raider series was amazing from the 1st to the Underworld, all of them except angel of darkness, I didn't like the rise the 2013 edition every game after the underworld and the last "pure" tomb raider game for me was the underworld. I would LOVE also a remake like tomb raider (1) anniversary for the last revelation!! and why not also for second one and the fifth one, even the third one, my least favorite of the series.

I've just noticed in the Chronicles's X-Ray section, they haven't updated the small medipack model yet lol. As for AOD, I hope they actually get reborninshadows, sasho and nakamichi on board, just like they did with all the fan made patch developers on I-III remasters. I heard that TRJTA (the Definitive Edition guy) isn't in the team though, so that's a bummer. Still, I'm excited!

I'm super looking forward to these games. From the moment I first fire up the 1-3 remaster my first thought was "oh god, just imagine The Last Revelation done like this!" Though in a more personal way I really can't wait for AoD. My uncle-in-law worked on the game, responsible for the Parisian Ghetto. He used family names for shops, such as 'Deb's Discs' (my mother-in-law). The photos around Carviers apartment are family photos so it will be interesting to see what they do with them in the remaster. I also so desperately want to see what they do with the box of 'Wayno's' in Carviers kitchen that he left as a signature hah!

I'm curious if the people behind the AOD Restoration project are working on the Remasters. A lot of the cut content we see in the achievements list and even LAU style controls were already added to the Restoration project. It would make sense considering the previous trilogy brought fans on to help out🤔. gives us an idea on how the AOD remaster might look.

I understand the challenge of remastering Tomb Raider 4 and 5. But Tomb Raider 6 demands a very extensive remake of the control system to make it a game on par with the previous ones. In my opinion, Angel of Darkness is an incomplete and still broken video game, with pain in my heart.

Thank you for the throughout analysis and all the comparisons it's so cool to see. and there's so many details like the little heads in sarcophagus. I would've missed without your video. One detail I'm surprised you didn't mention that I LOVED, again in Seth's room, how those columns went from a flat texture to having an actual 3d modelled statue inside? The amount of detail I'm seeing in TR4 so far exceeds my expectations and anything from TR1-2-3, which I'm so happy about cuz TR4 is my absolutely FAVE and it deserves it. Also, I'm not sure if I'm seeing things but i do believe the planetarium's ceiling does have a bit of a 3d effect, the stars do seem to move a bit differently than the lines, but the clip is so short I can't tell for sure. I disagree about Chronicles' glasses, I think the clear ones are way cooler and make more sense, like the ones used in the renders, the in-game ones i always found them ugly and too much Matrix wannabe lol. Overall I'm happy that they seem to have taken the best elements of the old ingame models and the renders/FMV one and mixed them for the new model. Also, thanks for the "keeping expectations in check" about AOD, I feel some fans are going a little too wild about this one and expecting too much... I believe in Aspyr but this is a remaster, and I have a feeling that whatever they do with AOD might not be enough for certain fans. The achievements involving some of the cut content being restored sound cool, but can this make AOD actually fun? Guess we will see in February 🤭
