Wow, looks like it works pretty well! (Again as someone who doesn't play a ton of solitaire variants, I feel like this game is begging for custom cards... E.g., I bet instead of the "rule of 3s" you could design level up cards that go together...)

100% yes. I like the idea that it's easy for tons of people to try it, "kick the tires" and see if there are obvious issues or things I haven't considered. Maybe a theme that fits better, etc. The goal / dream would be a custom deck that takes the game to that next level of theme and mechanisms. Thanks for taking a look!

That was fun, and very clear. I like the theme, but I think it needs just a bit more flavor. I was grinning about the ninjas on the motorcycles. The ninjas, spies and Nazis worked well, as did the Ace of the Covenant. I'd like to know what kind of cool swag the other aces represent. I'd like some story justification for what's going on when you upgrade by threes. I'd kind of like more idea of what the number cards represent (maybe the different suits are different kinds of tools? Or maybe the numbers are? Could the suits be somehow connected to the characters represented by the jacks?) None of that would affect the rules, but it would make it even more engaging. In my comments on your other video, I mentioned The Shooting Party. I think you would love it (I rethemed it a bit in my own mind: he had the theme being a scoundrel seducing the wives of the hosts and stealing their jewels; I think of it being a spy caper with information being the treasure being obtained and the wives being contacts.) Your game also reminded me a bit of Fool's Journey (the 2016 game, not the 2015 game.) It's played with tarot cards, and has a satchel rather like yours. I think it was also an inspiration for Solitary Journey as well. There's a lot of cross-pollination that happens, and it's so much fun. (I seem to remember that the dungeon crawler Scoundrel was an inspiration for Fool's Journey.) Anyway, I liked this a lot; thanks for sharing it. I'll keep an eye open for any updates.

This is great input, thank you so much for taking a look. Yes, I have been working on more granular ideas, but they've been jumbled in the process of developing and making tons of changes. Honestly, I'm still brainstorming these but would love any ideas you may have. But here's where I'm at: 2 - Gear and rations (to help you utilize a horse and travel to it), 5 - the location of horses / or the Ace of the Covenant, 8 - Securing the horse (to engage with a ninja, or to travel to the Ace. 3 - Documents (fake passports etc) help to get you: 6 - Top secret intel, which gets you: 9 - Access into the hidden base to take out a spy. 4 - Research to decode: 7 - fragments and inscriptions with symbols, in order to find the: 10 - Secret passageway into the Nazi fortress and take out a Nazi. Aces all have supernatural properties. Hearts is a Talisman, Clubs is an Idol, and Diamonds is a Crystal. :)

What happens if a joker is drawn but you don't have a card in the back to reference suit?
@ConstantChaosGamesАй бұрын
Since the back of the deck is basically your discard, you should almost always have a card there. I can think of 2 exceptions. 1) The first card in the back is another joker which doesn't have a suit. In this case I would look at the next card. 2) You draw the Joker as the 1st card of that round, so there are no discards yet. In this rare case, I think I would draw a random card from the deck, just to determine the suit, and then put that card back randomly into the deck. Hope that helps. Thanks for checking out the game!
