Tropicana Las Vegas Demolition 07 01 2024

This is the Tropicana Las Vegas demolition taking place on Monday, July 01 2024. I start the video on the south side of the property on a little side street behind the church on Reno Ave. From this view, you can see how close the new Las Vegas A's stadium is going to be to the Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium as well as T-Mobile arena and Michelob Ultra arena at the Mandalay Bay. This will be a crazy busy area if games are happening all at the same time. This spot also gives a great view of the demolition on the rear tower. You can see that some of the outside walls on the top levels have been punched out. I did not see any crews working on this tower while I was here. I then make my way to the west end of the property on Las Vegas Blvd. Crews were working on punching out the outside walls along one of the top floors. They have the metal arm on the front of a Bobcat that they use to push the walls out. You can see how they have to push on the walls while also working around the safety cables that are going across the openings. I then make my way to the other side of the front tower. There is a lot of debris laying in the front valet area waiting to be cleared out. The crews were all on the 7am break. Tune in next time for more updates on the Tropicana demolition.

I stayed there in 1997 for my honeymoon. It as much more colorful and looked a lot better. Had a nice room on a high floor of the front tower, the view down the strip was great.

The suites on the top floors were mostly two levels with a spiral stair case that goes to the top level. There are some KZbin videos of them as well. They were pretty large suites and some were very high tech with all the touch screen panels, lights, sound and video.

I saw videos of the inside of the Tropicana they still have a lot of furniture from the sale left over on the casino floor . Security is still inside watching the property.

Actually it's 5 arenas close to each other (6 if you count the Thomas & Mack Center but that place is further away from the rest) MGM Grand Garden Arena, T-Mobile Arena, Michelob Ultra Arena, Allegiant Stadium, and the future A's ballpark.

Hey Duntov! I believe the front tower circa 1978 is all framed with steel beams and girders with concrete decks. Whereas the back tower circa 1986 is all concrete beams, girders and decking Just a little tidbit , not sure if one tower will have different means to implode than the other based on that

The city must be turning the south end of the Strip into a Sports Complex area? To bring in more revenue/profits? I mentioned to you I'm a truck driver and drove through Vegas a few dozens times and stopped by between 1990 and 2008. I got to see old Vegas.

They are removing everything ahead of the Loizeaux Group implosion later this year. They have found it is much easier to recover the steel and concrete for recycling without all the other debris mixed in.

Let's not forget that sports venues have a relatively short lifespan before the billionaire team owners demand a new stadium. A perfect example was the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, completed in 1992. While aesthetically, it left much to be desired and the roof was fixed in place it was perfectly suitable but perhaps with fewer luxury boxes for the billionairs. It was replaced several years ago with a new one. Don't expect the Raiders stadium or the new baseball facility to last much beyond 2050.

Hey, my name is Eric . I am putting a prediction in with all the casinos that have been in this area and now they’re closing moving out changing hands. I’m giving a prediction within the next five years. This is all going to become a ghost town. The money has dried up. Nobody has any money anymore to spend, this is the way the world is going no more casinos no money coming into town. The ball fills their building are only going to be for as long as the team is doing good and then the ball parks will be shut down when the teams are not doing good. 😢
