My grandfather was also a Loco-pilot at Sealdah division.. Did his tenure from '56 to '97, a whooping 41 years. I'm writing this because, at 2nd July he passed away. This video helped to recall me at childhood how he Accompanied me on cab at Sealdah locals. Such a childhood I gone through. RIP dada 1938 - 2022 🌺🏵️💮

Very good video. I remember being at Bhusawal waiting for a train to Akola and this was in the early 1990's. I was going up and down the stn with my father. Then at one end of the platform, I saw a diesel engine coming and I asked my Father what will happen if i keep a stone on the track. He said keep it and see. I was 7 or 8 years old then. The stone I kept became powder under the loco. That day also saw the double powered Karnataka express for the first time. We had reached bhusawal in pushpak express and went to Akola in the Gitanjali express.

Mani sir for your information the uneven idling sounds that were heard in older alcos were due to the fact that they had electro hydraulic Woodward governors which were removed after they underwent conversion from wdm2 to wdm3a.Nowadays all alcos have microprocessor based governors and even idling.In fact off the top of my head even the WDM4 had Woodward governors but it didn't have any uneven idling.
