I donated thousands of dollars for years to educate the community in prevention, treatment, and research. I don't have a problem with donating, I have a problem enriching only those and/ or initiatives that maintain, vs really cure. Also, as a black woman, I worry that we wont benefit equally. I am still active in promoting engagement and the research/ science but I saw who gave, who couldnt and who didn't...

@@ObluuuuuuThe old Hep C maintenance meds (all injected), for example, cost an average of $189,000/yr, per the NIH. Multiply that anount to how many more years the patient lives, which would be even longer due to thoae meds lol. Yep, it'll be almost $10 mil (+ inflation) for a 30 y/o who lives till the age of 80! But when Sovaldi came out, all you needed was 2 to 3 months of small pills, which cost an outrageous $84K when it first came out. If you were the one paying (as yourself, insurance, employer or benefactor), you'd still be willing to pay less than half that old annual cost & that would hopefully be the end of it. If you know you're stuck with either options, the choice is clear. It even seems almost immoral to consider the cost if there's an option for complete cure. In this case, it'd be utterly stupid to even think a 2nd option still exists to consider when the PERMANENT CURE is also waaay cheaper than the non-cure, lifetime one. Fortunately, though, many anti-HCV competitor drugs have come out since Sovaldi's emergence. A 3-month course of Epclusa (2 to 3 months is typically all you need, depending on the meds chosen & your specific HCV strain) can now cost $20K in total without insurance on GoodRx, cheaper than the average auto most people buy every few years. And there are assistance programs for those who qualify & are in need, just like with HIV. Even Medicaid was routinely paying for the Hep C treatments no problem back when I worked for the local Health District ttill 2019. So if nothing else, just choose to live in a Dem-held state I guess, or at least those"Purple/Red" states like mine that aren't so batshit kray that they won't even allow the implementation of the federal budget-funded Medicaid expansion prescribed by Obamacare even when their constituents are some of the most impoverished/needy in the nation & actually need assistance even more than most. its so angering that companies would rather soak people who are sick for their money, and insurers money while ignoring that it is still has a lot of difficult consequences to people's lives...sure if you live within a small radius and don't ever leave a small circle of life, like kidney disease patients, you can live like that but your life can't be as full or have the range of opportunities that you would otherwise have. in fact, many ppl have to move and live in countries where they can get care and then are stuck there bc they either cannot get support or it's too highly stigmatized, and they aren't happy being there, they wish they could get their prior lives back and restore other aspects of life that they had to give up just to get care to keep living

We can do this if all of us a the world can donate even a dollar. We are 8 billion + people on this planet. Half of the world population can make this project a successful just by donating a $1 so $20 to $100 is really a whole life changing turnaround for all of us as a globe. Come on people let's do this together. Please where can donate ?

Got HIV 2 years ago from a cheating ex boyfriend that used and abused me . I want to move on so badly but this disease keeps me depressed and ashamed . A cure would change my life and bring back the light I've lost . God bless your work Dr ubarlo for healing me..

Exciting, but tempered still by infectiousness. ARV treatment keeps me alive and also ensures it's not possible to transmit the virus. I won't go off them until I know I won't be passing infection on to anyone else.

I got diagnosed this week. I got it by using PreP, I never missed a pill. I was not lucky, by some reason the virus broke through. I am dealing with the situation pretty well, I decided to focus on what I have, all the good things in my life and waiting for the final RNA test to show my T cells and viral load. I want to live, staying busy, do good things in life and keep going. I have not much symptoms, my body holds on pretty well. Before infection I never judged, we all have our stories and always said that the time for the medicine is soon. I feel it and since my diagnosis I am waiting for it even more 🙏🏻 Stay safe and take care of yourselves - positives and negatives too. ✨️✨️✨️✨️

Its not possible to get it from prep maybe there is something else you had it before use of prep infected before prep because being on prep its 99 percent effective literally impossible maybe you were in window period

The money is completely accounted for! All the money will be to build the necessities to fight here in America, yes spent here and sent , so a boost to the economy! Secondly, if you knew ANY history you’d know it’s repeating itself in Europe and we either send help , as we agreed to per the United Nations agreements, or we end up sending our troops to win. You must be a Fox News watcher which had never told the truth or facts since its inception! That’s why they paid $787 million for lying about 2020 election interference, with 2 lawsuits pending for more lying🔥
