TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Bergen - Myrdal on a windy Saturday in 4K UltraHD

Arriving in Bergen at 8am, changed direction and getting ready to head for Myrdal on this windy morning.
On my way to bergen in the 6:08am departure from voss ( • TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: W... ) we encountered a triggered avalanche warning system. You would think that things would be smooth sailing after that, but no. On this part we can add a technical signalling failure. A train drivers "heart stopper" is to see a signal switch from green to red right in front of you.

Yes, totally. I also like the idea of being on that train right now, without electronics or plastic to give away where I am, running away from stress. Unfortunately we can't outrun the stress in our own heads. No such thing as a clean slate or a new life--not without total amnesia first.

I enjoyed watching this video with my toddler son before his sleeping time. This video makes him very focused. He called out details in he saw like colors of traffic lights, exits of tunnels, road signs, ski carried by the passenger, cars on the roads, the horn. He also expressed his opinion like he thnks the train broke down when in long tunnels. And he would lean all his body on mine staying calm calm, happy and concentrated. And I also teached him about some common senses with things we saw. Because this video is pretty long, I limit the watch time at 20 mins a day. After dinners, he knew what he wanted to do with his dad. This brought us closer and helped him sleep better. We absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for taking these vids. Having been a locomotive engineer I find myself concentrating on the road ahead. You are fortunate to be able to run trains in either passenger or freight service and what variation in scenery! From seeing the general physical plant, the track and signal system appear to be in excellent condition. Love the tunnels. Must have been interesting operation during steam days. I assume that tunnels came along quickly when money was available and the company or government knew it would be necessary to avoid traffic delays and high operating costs. Because of all the various jobs, you can bid off to other jobs to avoid the boredom that comes from smaller operations and that you have done. As I watch the operation, I find myself recognizing the physical characteristics of the railroad. Once a railroader, always a railroader. And now a Christian and that allows me appreciate so many more things. Never thought I get to see railroad operations in Norway! Thanks again!

Wow! You've had quite a day! An avalanche warning on the first run and a signal malfunction on the next one. You should go home, make a pot of coffee and while its brewing, take a nice bath and relax all those tense muscles. After the bath put on some comfortable clothes and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Wow, watching that signal change and unable to stop could raise your heart rate a little. Accidently running a signal could change your entire career. Wonder what the passengers thought about the emergency stop.

We always inform the passenger for the reasons of a emergency brake. It was Avalanche signal, and the distance from the avalanche signal to the point of the avalanche detection system start is within good braking distance from the signal :)

Whilst heading for Myrdal we end up getting redirected towards Voss ??? following the journey by map ... that was one hell of an edit ... you went through Arna and then past Trengerreid and miraculously ended in Myrdal ... WOW !

The only way to get to Myrdal from Bergen is via Voss.
