Cold time of the year, beautiful country. Grain elevator was interesting on an island.

Great video, Dan! The Union Pacific intermodal train going along the Columbia River with the snow all round looked real nice! That grain elevator to transfer grain to barges on the Columbia River looked interesting. It looked like only received grain from trucks. Thank you for taking the time to document this train and for sharing the video with us.

Thanks a lot Thomas! Yeah not sure exactly how the elevator operates but it's cool. Glad you enjoyed!

Nice shot of the Trunk Bridge, you can clearly see the old swing span as well as the lift span!

Another great video! I think the snow adds to the scenery and I really enjoy the videos where I actually know the locations; I moved to the Vancouver, WA area a few years ago from the east.

Thank you Dan I really enjoy your videos. They make me a bit homesick 😔. I'm not from Oregon yet I did live there a bit. I'm from Washington. I moved away in 80 by way of the Air Force. I am modeling the Pacific North West though. Take care and have fun, Chris

Well thanks Chris I appreciate it! Glad I can bring you back to it in a way. The whole Pacific Northwest is a wonderful region. I feel fortunate to live here.

Another good one Dan! Somehow you have manage to avoid the Gorge Easterlies. One of these day your luck will run out. I am still impressed with the legs your camera drone has!

I have gotten lucky a lot of the time but I've experienced it as well. Made the trip all the way there a couple of times only to not be able to fly at all while I was there. It's an extreme letdown when I drive 2.5+ to get there...

I saw the conductor at the front door before I saw your line at the top of the screen. I hope the crew was able to find this video, somehow.

I'm friends with the Conductor and chased this train because they were on it! 😀 Things like that always make the hobby so much more wholesome.

Oh, that's cool. That is nice that you know him and you could chase and video his train.

Man, that actually looks weird seeing everything white there on the Gorge! I'm used to either green or lots of dead brown grass.

That was excellent!!! Very scenic and pretty observant of the crew to notice the drone tracking along. Just curious re the logistics of filming - do you pre plan from where you will be positioning? The train isn't dawdling along and can imagine to recover the drone and then get sufficiently in front of the same train and launch / position the drone at its maximum distance on the approach side to start filming again could see you cover quite some distance at speed. All very well done Dan.

I knew the conductor and they knew to keep an eye out for the drone on this one. Yes I do so much planning in location to location especially in new territory I'll spend time on Google maps ahead of time figuring out from where to where I can make it to next. This one is relatively easy because the Interstate spends so much time along the ROW and at 75+ mph on the road it's somewhat quick to get ahead again. But this whole chase was about 40 miles so you can see in that time I got 3 locations and between all of those I had a little more than the bare minimum to get set up again. Thanks a lot Carl!

@@TheRailfanDan Yeah I had a sneaking suspicion Dan that it was fairly intense to get the result you do. Explains why you have the field of drone train spotting pretty much all to yourself. Hope you realise how much we all appreciate the effort and the results are truly impressive, thanks mate.
