You have no idea of the pleasure that videos of this line bring tome in the UK. Thank you

I hardly see the OSR go by the 401 whenever I go under those tracks, but must be when I go by.
@railpast5 жыл бұрын
Only go by twice a day and only 4 times week, usually around 9 am going there and 4 Pm coming home.

On the Cayuga line, not too far past Courtland going east, it must end there, as weeds grow on the tracks past the end point, but the power to the junction boxes are still active.
@railpast5 жыл бұрын
Yes, out of service east of Courtland. OSR has been storing tank cars there.

Some of the crossings lights are gone east of there. Needed for parts or stolen?

I've seen that to. Hard to say.

WOW! Now that was a most amazing VIDEO Walter!! I liked everything from beginning to end! I especially loved the scene in Belmont Ontario. As in the early diesel locomotive day's when CP F7s and there GP9s and of course ALCOS ruled the rails! But it also gives me an idea of how it looked when CP 4-6-0s and even bigger STEAM LOCOMOTIVES ruled the ST THOMAS SUB!

THansk Tom. Always fun chasing these guys as I know them all and stopping and chatting with them along the way is part of the fun.

@@railpast Your welcome Walter! Here in South Carolina we have a short line RAILROAD called the CAROLINA & PIEDMONT. It runs from Laurens SC to a part of Greenville S.C where GE builds gas turbines. From when I first moved down here from New Jersey. I very soon got to meet the day crew or the first shift. And I've gotten to know engineer Keith and conductor Mark quite well over the past 3 year's! Though I'm working several a week now I don't get to chase it or see it as much as I would like to. But last week I found them switching the BASF facility in MAULDIN SC. It's great having a short line near both of our home's!

Great video. Always love seeing what these guys are up too. Finally starting to look and kinda starting to feel like spring
@railpast5 жыл бұрын
Yes slowly but I will take it.

It will be interesting what CN will do with the Cayuga line after Apr. 30, since the OSR didn't renew its lease.

I have to say I like the "long shots" (zoomed waaaay out) ... they have a very artistic look. You've had some decent weather the past couple of days for filming, and it seems it's finally spring! Don't see many smokey locomotives these days!
@railpast5 жыл бұрын
I think you mean zoomed in. Glad you enjoyed it.

@@railpast True. I was thinking, "reaching out" to the object, and the way my own telephoto works, extending out to magnify, then pull back in for wide angle.
@railpast5 жыл бұрын
@@frankmcgorman962 No problem. I always wanted to try one of those zoom out shots.

I couldn't help noticing how in some of your shots how the tracks look like they are in some need of repair. Either the train would 'wobble' from side to side or in one shot how the track would move up and down as each to the cars wheels would roll over it. I guess the crews that travel them rails get use to it but just watching it bothers me, wondering if some day it could cause a derailment...

Rail is made to flex or it would break and at this time of the year track does move as frost comes out of the ground. OSR puts safety and track maintenance as a top priority. I can assure that tracks is inspected weekly. Thanks for looking.

Do you know by any chance how many total locomotives the OSR operates currently?
