Hi, Research Dev here. 10:00 This problem would usually have been approached by using an S-link, which looks somewhat like a crowbar in that it is curved at both ends. These would have been able to couple rolling stock with different coupler heights. While we do not have an S-link modeled, the current links do have the same functionality as an S-link. Also, we are adding smaller cars. They probably won’t be an exact height match for the Porter Type Bs, but they’ll be much closer than the current stock.

this game would be pretty cool if they also added basic maintenance of the locos/rolling stock, maybe even custom liveries on the workshop alongside custom locos and rolling stock, buildings etc

That would actually be an amazing addition. It wouldn't be too hard either, far as I can tell, long as we have the in-game models there is no limit to the modifications we can make.

According to the developers the water tower will eventually refill, although they did say it takes forever for it to fill back if you empty it. Great video!

I thought the same but I shot and did not miss it has a bit of a learning curve but if your a solo player you will like it idk about multiplayer yet not that brave

@@dank2265 I've also bought it now. It's fun solo but it's clearly being developed for people to work together to make the experience better. I forgot to drop my players to 1 once and some random player joined me and I didn't even realize until my logs were loading without my doing it. Two or more people just makes things more efficient as long as they're actually working together.

Really getting into this now. I figured out some of the glitchyness and now I am wondering how in the world you do track planning. Just walk in the general direction and plop down track? There is no way to see the terrain or a decent path on the map. I am 3/4 of the way to the saw mill and now I am pointed right at the pond and will have to make a super sharp turn OR redo about a hour's worth of work.

Track planning is tough. What I usually do is lay groundwork in the general direction as I scout and then redo that as necessary. Once I'm happy with the route and the shape of the groundwork then I lay track. Happy railroading!

I'm tempted to buy this game. But looking at the fact, that I'm more of a "build a railway network" guy I love playing with the terrain. I know you can create embankments, but is it also possible to "dig" into the ground to create cuttings(?) for the track? Also would love the implementation of double crossover points.

The only time you have the reverser all the way forward or reverse is when starting or as more power is needed. as the train gets moving you slowly move the reverser towards the center.

How do you set down new firewood from the firewood house to refuel the cab? I try clicking at the side of the cab, like you do to pick it up, but it only shows the option to pick up more logs.

Do you mean stack it? Pick up the firewood from the house with left click then point at the stack of wood in the cab and right click. It should fly on there if it's aimed right.

I would love some help. I just got the game and it looks great, but no matter what I do I can not get my left or right mouse button clicks to do anything. I can't pick up firewood and put in the boiler or place the firewood depot.

Try going to settings and reset controls to default. That has fixed control weirdness for some people

If you're playing on the latest patch then you have to bring logs to the depot to make firewood. No more free firewood!

Very important question @kerbo how do I rerail an engine. I tried the rerail button and clicking, but then it did nothing. I then demolished the engine and think I lost it forever

First of all, I'm sorry about your engine. It is gone forever if you demolished it and then saved. Rerailing is a little tricky and hard to describe but I'll try. Select rerail in G menu. Go close to what you want to rerail and left click. The text should change and top left to Porter or Flatcar, whatever you clicked on. Now walk over to a fairly straight piece of track and stand on it then look along the track and slightly down. Your engine or car should appear floating above the track. Right click to drop. Repeat as needed. You can change direction while it's floating with left click but you have to be moving, it's kind of weird. Good luck!

It is that easy for most people but I've seen posts on Steam and Discord where people can't get wood to go in. There must be some kind of bug with the hitbox. I don't know what to tell you other than try various angles

Only some of the locomotives have air brakes (not Betsy for example). For those that do there is a valve in the cab that regulates steam to the air compressor, which will build pressure if it has steam

That's really strange. The slot1 save should be the default when you click Host. You can look in %localappdata%\arr\Saved\SaveGames to see if the save file is there. The saves are named slotX.sav where X is 1-10. You might try asking for help on their Discord discord.com/invite/vhNrShWYnr Good luck!

My game will not let me fuel the boiler. I open the fire door and see the wood going in but it reads zero on the fire and no go loco. I click on the fire wood in the cab and it disappears but never goes into the firebox no matter what I do.

Make sure you have fuel/water and the fire temperature is up which will heat the water. Once the water is heated above 100C steam pressure will start to build. All those numbers are in the loco UI which you can access by clicking with F when on/near the loco

Do you mean when rerailing? Hold down left click to flip end to end, sometimes you have to move around a bit to get it to flip while holding

No matter how many logs I throw into the boiler or firebox, nothing happens and I cannot gain steam

The hit box is kind of tricky. Try standing facing the firebox and throw at the top of the boiler. Check the fuel number in the loco UI to see if wood made it in. Each piece of wood = 10 fuel

I really need help I have just started out on this game and have ran out of wood in my engine but I can’t get wood from the firewood depot so how am I going to refuel it I don’t have enough money for a pump car so I’m completely stuck hope someone can help

Before today's patch the firewood depot gave free firewood. Now you have to take wood (logs, cordwood, lumber, or beams) to the firewood depot so it will produce firewood. If you're completely stuck and don't have the money for another loco you can cheat in money using a script.
