34 cars plus a caboose and two locomotives. Now _that_ is railroading! C&TS has put on some amazing shows over the years but this has got to be one of the best I've seen thus far.

I absolutely love that the 484 was the Pueblo & Chama Circus Train in the 3rd Indiana Jones movie. That will always take place in my heart as one of the most beautiful Locomotives in the world.

Very good video Railways productions, Great job filming this program of the Cumbres & Toltec, I really enjoyed that video. 👍

I would love to see the two railroads come back together with both railroads running on the same tracks.

Yeah, sorry to say it but that’s not gonna happen. The 110+ miles of tracks between Chama and Durango have been torn in the early 70’s. It is sad but I think we should be grateful for what we have of the Rio Grande. The Cumbres & Toltec is 64 miles and the Durango & Silverton is 45, that makes 109 miles. That’s a lot of narrow gauge nowadays

My favorite part of this train movie is at 1:08:09. Besides, this scene makes me so excited.

Its because the trestles are not strong enough to have two engines in the front together is why they have one engine in the front pulling and one in the rear pushing. Love fall colors. Because the Cumbres railroad is a mountain and plains railroad and not a river valley railroad track maintenance like the Durango Silverton and there fore is less is less time consuming and less tedious to maintain. You don't see the variations in track alignment , bent rail and bumpy rail like you do on the D&SNG. Its a much nicer and smoother ride as I remember. The friends of the Cumbres do a great job in supporting the Railroad. Making it that much more enjoyable and for rail enthusiasts much more appealing.

Wonderful video. Great scenery. Was the song that was used during the Day 1-Chama Yard Switching Map Segment. Is that a Music Bakery Song or a Michael Lynch classic? Hope to hear back. Thank you.
