Thank you for the info that a push button test of the mini-clik MUST occur when the system is in manual all stations mode. I pulled my hair out trying to make it work in single station manual mode. Great job!

Thank you. I was testing it with manual single station and could not get the sensor to cut off the water. Now I know there is probably nothing wrong with my sensor. Very helpful information and I'm ready to test it again with manual all program

So i just found this video because my rain sensor is making a buzzing noise and is causing my controller to display an error message. If i wiggle the sensor it goes away. So can i just unhook the sensor and put the jumper tab back in and do away with the sensor? Thanks for any help

Feel free to disconnect the two sensor leads but be sure to replace the original jumper or make one of your own.

@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation thanks a bunch. Worked like a charm. They placed this sensor where it got wet every watering and always had it in bypass. It was kinda pointless but everything is operating perfectly now. Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated 👏

Would I have to shut power off when removing or installing wires to the control board ? (For example if I was replacing the rain sensor )

If you have a controller running on several zones, is it possible to make sure 1 zone (for inside a greenhouse) ignores the rain sensor and always waters but all over zones respond to the rain sensor?

If the system is off due to the rain sensor at the start of a several hour multizone program and the rain sensor removes the OFF signal before the zones would have been completed, will it begin watering at whatever the current zone would have been running had the program not been triggered off by the rain sensor at the start?

My 400i does not show current time when in "run" position. Is this normal?
@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation
@Hunter_Landscape_Irrigation 3 жыл бұрын
Normal status should show the time and date. If it doesn't try moving the dial to another dial setting and back to Run. If that does not fix it try performing a factory default. Use this web address to learn how to do that if your not sure. www.hunterindustries.com/support/pro-c-clearing-controllers-memoryresetting-controller

Can you splice rain sensor wire? I amusing about 15 ft of the old that is inside the wall and 10 ft of the new coming from the sensor on the roof? I can a person use a Rain Bird rain sensor on a Hunter Control panel?

i have a rain sensor, and it was on bypass since the guy installed it, and he said it was fine like that and worked as intended, so it came on every day even during the rain. i recently switched it to active because that seemed right, and i dont think my sprinklers have come on at all and its been at least 3 or 4 days since the last rain. usually my porch is wet after the sprinklers go and i havent seen any water marks each morning. i recently noticed the sensor seems to be connected to the COM port instead of the SEN ports which are available. is that bad? ill have to check if the sensor displays "OFF" when i switch it back to active or not. could it be the vent ring thing? the sensor is outside my house on the chimney i think near the second floor.. its pretty high up if i remember right

You can wire a rain sensor to the COM port & bypass the sensor ports, but the wire that used to be there (in the COM port) was the common wire to the valves, & it's now connected to 1 of the wires for the sensor. What brand sensor was installed? It will work like this, & pretty sure the controller should be placed in "BYPASS" unless there is a jumper wire on the dedicated sensor ports. I don't ever wire sensors up like this, though I've seen them wired up like this. I would wire it up properly by putting the blue & white wires (if Hunter brand) into the sensor ports, & put the white common wire back into the common port & put the controller's sensor switch into the active position. I'd also run a manual program (NOT a single manual station) & get a zone running & make sure your controller is properly running your stations. Always try to hire a licensed irrigator (if you have them in your state) or a good, reputable sprinkler company that has plenty of experience.

@@rastapastrychief Thank you for replying in such detail! Unfortunately I forgot about that comment I posted quite a while ago since I tend to have notifications turned off for replies and forgot to manually come and check. I didn't realize it was a whole 11 months ago! The same situation was still ongoing since then, so recently I had a family member adjust the vent ring to be more open and then I built up the courage to try to correct the wiring of the rain sensor in the way that you suggested. I tested it later on when I had the opportunity to get another family member to climb the ladder outside to press the test button on the sensor, while I ran a manual program start and monitored the display from the control panel in my basement. (I'm far too afraid of heights). The test was successful and the sprinklers immediately shut off upon holding the test button and displayed "OFF" on my control panel which can now stay set on active instead of the weird confusing "bypass" setup the sprinkler guy did. Thank you again for your help I really appreciate it. -I wrote up a whole detailed comment yesterday and youtube up and deleted it with some kind of error when I came back to edit it so here was a summary.-

@@shoyrushoyru Great! No problem, glad to have helped. What brand sensor do you have? Is it wireless or wired? Asking because if wireless, Rain Bird and Irritrol both use CR2032 batteries that you must replace about every year, & Hunter's wireless sensor has a 5 year warranty and battery life, which I use more than any of the others for that reason alone. They used to guarantee their sensors for 10 years up until a few years ago.

@@rastapastrychief I didn’t get a super up-close view of the sensor but from reference images it appears to be a hunter mini clik which I believe is a wired sensor.
@rastapastrychief

@@shoyrushoyru I think I remember you mentioned the mini click, so that’s correct, as it is a wired sensor, so my bad.
