We had a college fund as well. My daughter went 3 semesters and stopped. She told us she just didn’t know what she wanted to major in and felt she was wasting the money. It was a gut punch to me but I had to respect her decision. It’s one year later and it doesn’t appear she will go back to school but at least now she has a nest egg for a house or something later.

Breastfeeding mamma for 6 months here. I can barely get anything out when pumping even when I’m at my fullest so don’t always assume because you can’t pump much that you have a low supply! This baby might latch straight away and you’ll provide enough milk for them! Good luck ❤️❤️❤️

So proud of you for choosing a c-section and keeping yourself and your baby safe during your birth! And be kind to yourself if you don't produce much milk, lots of moms don't and it doesn't make us any less amazing. My suggestion would be to just contact a doula in your area and ask them directly what they can help with during a c-section. They probably know best and would be happy to explain so you can make an informed decision!

Yeah the women in last 2-3 generations on my moms side haven't ever been able to produce much milk. We would be dead without formula! Lol

Hi Elle, I'm from Israel, currently living in NYC, and just wanted to tell you that an early anatomy scan in Israel is a routine procedure, everyone gets it. You also you get a vaginal ultrasound to measure the cervix length, and that happens few times during the pregnancy. Most women also choose to do the amniocentesis procedure in Israel as well- even if they don't have to, it's just a cultural thing. I have an Israeli Dr here and I'm similar weeks to you- I got mine at 17 weeks, just a routine procedure - nothing to worry about! :)

A lot of doulas help you postpartum too. They come to your home and help you with a whole host of things! Some doulas will even let you pay them to stay overnight with your baby so you can sleep!

As a labor and delivery nurse, even pre COVID, we only allowed one person in the OR for c-sections. So I would check with your hospital to see if a doula would even be allowed into the OR during your surgery.

First baby - breached and c-section. Torturous breastfeeding journey. Second baby - planned Vbac, baby turned breached at 34weeks and stayed that way, so c-section it was. The nurses were aware of how I struggled before, and even though everything looked fine, they offered to bring a pump into the bedroom just to give me some peace mind and tone down my anxiety. Afterwards I had one of the nurses (I really don't know what would be the equivalent title in America for "sage-femme"..) come to the house to check on me and the baby (incision, bandage, blood pressure, baby weight, breastfeeding, questions etc...) it helped so much, reassuring me that everything was going just fine, and built my confidence on breastfeeding.

Ultrasound tech here. Totally normal to do an anatomy scan at 16 weeks. We can no longer measure crown rump so we have to do femur, head, abd measurements. It’s sort of standard protocol after a certain point in pregnancy all though at 16 weeks we don’t always get everything because they are still small.

I had bleeding during my second pregnancy on weeks 20-22 and 24 to 26. I had to do semi bed rest. It was due to chasing after my 2 year old and the fact that I was always on the go. I had also nose bleeds often. It was not the best experience ( trips to the ER and all) Take it easy! I hope all goes smoothly!

college funds can pay for trade school, or certification tests, or craft classes if they want to learn like pottery, or supplies to start a small business if they end up wanting to sell a service or product, or even like clothes for a job if they get a job but it has a specific dress code. Unless it's in an account that's locked for education, there are a lot of things it can pay for that isn't just like here have a whole bunch of money. I love that idea, even if it's not much it can really help a ton with setting someone up. They also don't have to go to college right away, if they're not sure and want to take a year or two off to decide what they want, it can be saved for later. I had to go straight to college to stay on insurance but I wish I had a year to just explore and figure out what I wanted to do because at 17 when I graduated high school, I wasn't sure and many people aren't.

To help with gagging try squeezing your thumb in your fist. I know it sounds weird but it short circuits the gag reflex when not pregnant, so hopefully will help during pregnancy too.

In regards to college, I think it's great you have funds set aside. It's important to inform your children/teens that college isn't the end all be all. Some people go to college when that's not the right path because it is engrained in us in high school that it's our only option. Going into trade or a specialty school can be a better fit for some (and are very employable and necessary in our society). As long as your kids know their options and interests, they'll make the best decision that's right for them.

I'm 11 months pp with my third baby and one thing I did different with breastfeeding this time was usually a manual pump instead of an electric and it made a huge difference in building my supply and getting a freezer stash. It takes a little practice to get used to but I loved it over the electric pump and got so much more milk. Also, don't bring your pump to the hospital, ask your nurse for a pump and they'll bring you a really nice hospital grade pump for while your inpatient.
@denisechow27063 жыл бұрын
I had low supply with my first (similar to u, tried all the supplements etc) and with my second I pumped from the get go and worked hard to increase my supply and had an oversupply on purpose cause I froze it! I’m sure you’ll understand as well that an oversupply is better than an undersupply and it was so much better 2nd time around. Good luck!

I’m pregnant with di di twins and I had to go every two weeks for 45 min appointments during my second trimester. This was because I was considered high risk with twins. So maybe your 1 hour long ultrasound was because of your past and they just wanted to make sure everything was developing good. Doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong, they are just being cautious and it’s better for them to find out early and treat it hopefully, rather than later.

Have you thought about hiring a doula who is also a birth photographer? I have seen listing for doulas where you can hire them for either service or both; if you don't really need the doula care then they'll focus on photography instead. I had a doula for my third pregnancy, which I hoped to be a VBAC, but we ended up changing to a scheduled c-section a few days before my due date and we'd already paid the doula so she just came along for the ride. Honestly, we could have survived without her, but it was nice to have someone there to chill with my husband and baby in the couple of hours while I was in the surgical recovery room and make sure he could get some lunch and stuff. But since it was my second c-section and wasn't an emergency, the whole thing felt pretty relaxed anyway.

I do high risk OB ultrasound for a living. It could be that they thought they saw something and then kept on looking to make sure and then it was nothing...we have each other look at stuff to double check ourselves. Hope that helps. But you can always call and ask why it was so long.

Hi Elle, unfortunately my doctor didn’t tell me I had a subchorionic hemorrhage either after the ultrasound and I had the spotting as well before my 12 week appt. I thought that was so unusual! Baby was healthy though and I guess it’s more common than we think.

I had a SCH at 6 weeks with my surrogacy, that they didn’t find at 8 weeks, but the day following the 8 week scan, I had a major bleed with clots. I’m not sure if it was just “hiding” or if it was a new bleed.

oversupply can also be bad because upu can get clogged ducts and mastitis which can actually hinder your supply and lower it! its so scary idk which one I rather have but I kind of want to pump too early.
@07lovebubbles3 жыл бұрын
As a person who struggles with low supply (I’m talking barely anything coming out) I would choose to have an over supply. Although over supply can cause mastitis and clogged ducts, you can always slowly tell your body to reduce the amount it makes. Whereas when you have low supply, theres nothing you can do to bring it up (at least not anything I tried). Also, you can still get clogged ducts with low supply.
@KrystenStrunck3 жыл бұрын
@@07lovebubbles yes! I struggled with low supply with my first one which is why I kinda wanna start pumping early too just scared of mastitis, clogged ducts, painful engorgement, super fast letdowns that make it hard for baby 😭

I also had bleeding in 2nd trimester. Placenta previa and incompetent cervix. My placenta is ok now but my cervix is down to 13 mm at 27 weeks. I'm so scared. I also had 2 anatomy scans. Actually 3. One at 17 weeks bc I had covid and then one at 21 weeks which was my real one but my little boy is stubborn and he was hiding his face so I had another one to check his mouth and nose. I'm so sorry you've experienced scares in your pregnancy.

Don’t lose hope on breastfeeding. I had a horrible experience with my daughter. She wouldn’t latch and I had a really low supply so I didn’t have high expectations during my second pregnancy. But then my son immediately latched after my c-section and my supply was completely normal…I would say a little more than I actually needed for him lol! I stopped breastfeeding and pumping at 10 months because he kept biting me but I’m really glad that I made the decision this time around.
