Rainbow Crepe Cake: Behind Tasty

Here is what you'll need!
RAINBOW CREPE CAKE
Servings: 10-12
INGREDIENTS
6 tablespoons butter, melted
3 cups milk
6 eggs
2¼ cups flour
7 tablespoons sugar
Red food coloring
Orange food coloring
Yellow food coloring
Green food coloring
Blue food coloring
Purple food coloring
6 cups whipped cream
PREPARATION
1. In a bowl, whisk flour and sugar. Mix in eggs, then gradually mix in butter and warm milk, alternating between the two.
2. Divide the batter into 6 bowls with 1 cup of batter in each. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl, and whisk until fully incorporated and the batter is colored.
3. On a nonstick skillet over medium heat, pour ⅓ cup of red crepe batter, and tip the pan to cover the entire bottom surface. 4. Cook the crepe begins to gently bubble and cook through, then flip. Repeat until all of the different color crepe batter is used.
5. Stack crepes on top of each other, starting with purple, then blue, green, yellow, orange, and red, with whipped cream between each layer.
6. Cover the crepe cake in whipped cream, so that it’s fully white on the outside.
7. Slice, and enjoy!

I’ve made it and it was pretty easy, you just have to work fast when you’re cooking them. I put Nutella in between them (which kind of worked spreading wise) and my pan was a bit smaller so it wasn’t as hard to flip them. You just have to know what you’re going into lol

When I first saw Tasty's videos, I thought they were all... Idk, perfect, flawless and not something I'd watch to get a lot of entertainment. But watching these I'm completely delighted at how personable, and... Human they all are. I love crepes. I grew up in Belgium and France and crepes are BIG there. We have lower edged pans that way you can flip them, and when you flip it successfully the satisfaction is AMAZING

Crepes and Dutch pancakes aren’t the same. Crepes are French and are a lot thinner and bigger than the usual Dutch pancake. Crepes are made with a small amount of batter and Dutch pancakes have a lot of batter.

I've been making crêpes since I was four. I'm also French so I happen to know quite a bit about crêpes. Your crêps are too thin and you don't need all of those ingredients just do 2 cups of flour 1 cup of sugar 2 cups of milk and 3 table spoons of liquor. Just for taste the alcohol evaporates during baking. Put the batter in the fridge for 30 mins that way its easier to bake. Also oil the pan with coconut oil between each crêpe it prevents the crêpe from sticking and it gives a good taste and it healthier than using butter or olive oil. Not trying to sound arrogant just trying to help xx 😘

Dutch pancakes are much thicker than crepes, not like the american ones but crepes are supposed to be really really thin so they usually spread out a small amount of batter over the whole pan, and when making dutch pancakes you just fill the whole pan with batter without really spreading it out so they're like 10 times thicker haha

crepes and dutch pancakes ARE not the same thing. Dutch pancakes are in between crepes and pancakes and made to also be used as a carrier for stuff like syrop and powdered sugar, or spek, or kaas.

I'm really confused because what I know as pancakes (pannekoek) look like what Americans call crepes and it has sugar mixed with cinnamon on and what I know as crumpets (plaatkoekies) Americans call pancakes. I'm so confused with life and we also have crepes... And they are basically pancakes but with salty toppings (btw I'm Afrikaans so I'm not sure if our pancakes are Dutch pancakes but they probably are because we are sister tongues)

Blommekind * from what you said, dutch pancakes are not exactly the same as yours, our toppings are usually sweet (though there are exceptions of course!) but we mostly eat them bare or with fruits, ice cream, powdered sugar, syrup, etc.
