Ritchie was never given the credit he deserved as a guitarist, songwriter or performer. He is amazingly talented but doesn't have the 'Star' ego-tripping confidence to really put himself 'out there'! And the fifth guitar hero should be Michael Schenker! I got to see Ritchie in 1982 with Rainbow (Straight between the eyes tour) and with the reformed Deep Purple in 1987 (House of blue light). There was always this dark and moody vibe on the right hand side of the stage, like this is forbidden territory for anyone except Ritchie, which was epic and perfect for who he was to us. Fun to see that Romero gets to stand close to Ritchie without having his head bitten off. That's new!

Our beloved old super bands are fantastic. However, it is also a fact that in recent years, measured by the TOP 50 hit lists of the largest music markets in the world, no human musicians were involved in more than 80% of the songs / hit recordings. And the computer-generated sound is still on the rise. So let's all support young musicians who make handmade music. Only if we buy their records, DVDs and merch do we enable the young bands and musicians to turn their passion into a profession and also to be able to make a living from it. The ROCK N ROLL is crying out for help folks...🤘🎸🎹🎷🎤🎺🥁🤘.

I really like their drummer David Keith! Their singer Ronnie Romero covers this song effortlessly but it's not fair to compare him to an aging Gillan as the younger voice is always stronger. They keys & bass hold the band together while the vocals & drums drive the band. Ritchie does appear older & wiser nowhere near his old volatile self of being ready to kill anybody that ventures on to his side of the stage. It does feel as if he's trying to recreate the classic Purple lineup with Lord, Glover, & Paice. The man in black still plays very well perhaps not with the fire of old because of health issues but I would still love to see them in concert. Rock as long as you can Ritchie. You don't need to prove yourself to anybody. play because you love it & I think he does.

@@Mr75044 No problem. Another reason IMO is when DP peaked in 1972 with Machine Head, a year later Ian quit so they couldn't build on their momentum to stay with Zeppelin & Sabbath. Sure Coverdale is an incredible singer but it wasn't the same.

Agreed. For me, he was best on ground for this performance. Ritchie's solo was rather underwhelming.

How many bands around today will be remembered for their half-century musical contribution and influence as Ritchie Blackmore and Deep Purple did?

Carting that old Leslie around is cool. I believe that it’s got the walnut finish! The bench probably has Corinthian leather!

Do you think Ritchie watched a "How to play Highway Star guitar solo by Ritchie Blackmore" video on youtube before this show ?

Ian Gillian can't be replaced. The version of Deep Purple is and will always remain a classic. This one is not bad.....

So sorry, this is not DP and this version of Rainbow is a pale version of the 1975 edition. Take the hat off Ritchie and bury the hatchet with Ian..

Ronnie James Dio is a better vocalist than Ian. Ian never sang properly and ended up losing his voice occasionally. Ian screamed as much as he sang. Screaming is not singing. I could name many great lead vocalists that were better than Ian in their prime: Freddie Mercury, Robert plant, Sting, daltery, Steve Tyler,

@@frankperricone2065 beck is cool still. Clapton sucks. he did nothing basically since Duane passed in 1971. No one coasted in neutral living off their name alone longer than Clapton. Most boring, lowest volume concert, I ever saw too, and this was 20 years ago, Clappy was not that old yet to be so boring
