Dio, Cozy Powell, Blackmore....this is one of my favorite rock bands of ALL time......great lineup, they really play well live and the live album was one of my favorite growing up

Remember seeing the Rainbow tour/show back in '78 at Winterland, S.F. They opened for REO Speed Wagon and stole the show. This was a fantastic lineup during Ritchie's Rainbow era with Dio on vocals! This song rocks!!

ritchie and ronnie blew people away when they toured the states in 1978 opening for reo speedwagon, it was a heavy sound, black sabbath was dying and van halen was new, nobody ever heard a voice like that it was awesome dio created his legend status and ritchie was the greatest guitarist,

Dio was so great...what a fantastic front-man. He had it all, voice, musical talent, presence, etc. I was privileged to see him several times, both solo and with Sabbath. The little guy could bring it.

@mjw9363 Thats awsome you got to see so many great groups back then, i did also, in the Bay Area. Ive seen most the ones on my list , but never saw Marino. The best place was called the old Waldorf in SF. Just a small club, ACDC played there I think 1978 , I actually was sitting in a chair with my feet on the stage, Angus was about 4 ft in front of me most of the time. One of the best shows of my life. My ticket was only $3.50. Saw alot of day on the greens too. Gave me alot of inspiration.

The guy on the guitar is Richie Blackmore; one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He led Deep Purple as well and now leads Blackmore's Knights.

No matter what Richie is playing on the guitar....You always know it's him....in a class all by himself. Just listen to the studio version of "Child in Time" The solo in the middle is that of a virtuoso.

Awesome song, band and video. This was early 80's, that's Ronnie James Dio singing. I had this when RECORD ALBUMS were still selling, I got from Tower Records when they just opened in the West Covina Mall in Cali. Awesome!

I will miss Ronnie James Dio. An amazing talent that transcended my youth >> saw him with Sabbath at Black and Blue, Rochester War Memorial 1982 >> then took my own child to see Heaven & Hell, Chevy Theater Wallingford ... last August.

Hey, you have got to check out this band Den Of Thieves. I came across them from a Glenn Hughes view. These guys are amazing! The guitarist plays a strat like Ritchie. Its called Killing For Love. Awesome tune! Great lead.

Ive heard this song played a ton of ways, this by far the best performance of it hands down through Dio's career. Wish I could of been around to see this live, what a show!!! The raw energy of this one performance puts everything done in the 80's to shame. Long live the King, RIP DIO!!!!

I've seen Ritchie with Purple, and Dio solo and with Sabbath, but never got to see Rainbow. Damn shame! I see my man Cozy doing what he does best on the drums...RIP Coz!
