i feel like this video can be explained in like under a minute. pretty much when sticking on a road your speed is capped to your x speed so you end up covering more distance than you would if you were just falling not only that but you could probably just analyze this using TAS Tools and it would probably be explained easier

I think the idea is that when you drive on the track itself, you’re traveling at your top speed tangent to the slope of the curve. When you do moon jump or detach, linear momentum is conserved and you’re traveling top speed in the x direction while simultaneously falling. Also worth noting that this game doesn’t conserve linear momentum lol but it definitely conserves MOST momentum, so it’s still faster.

Btw, there's an even faster method of the moon jump with a bike where you hop then use your mushroom when you hit the bump and wheelie. I believe since slopes make you go slower than driving straight and falling is the same speed. It is faster. Have you planned on TTing BCWII or any custom track like desert fort like doing 250 gold star?
