I was there in 1977 ! The concert was delayed because of Ritchie (trouble with the police,as always)! Suddenly there was the child voice of Judy Garland talking about a rainbow rainbow rainbow.....BAAAM !!! INFERNO!!! Out of fuckin nowhere 'Rainbow' was there ...including Ritchie completely under fire !! They started with something that I couldn't reconize because Iwas frightened to death !! The volume was the blast of hell !! The fans went mad . It was 'Kill the king' ! And it was absolutely magic. I was 16 and I know I'll never forget !

This is one of the times in music history that geniuses, that otherwise would never work with each other, just so happen to write music together and give us such astounding songs! It's natural that personalities like Richie and Ronnie would inevitably clash, but that golden period of time, that narrow window of them working together has given us these gems.

Remember hearing Ritchie jamming on his own before the crowd came in.Couldnt wait to get to our seat. About 40 years ago, still feels like it happened yesterday. The main riff in Stargazer, along with the vast majority of everything else Blackmore has written, has had such a massive influence on everything rock/metal guitar that came after it. People often talk about the best/most influential guitar players of all time, you always see the usuals, EVH, SRV, Randy Rhodes, etc. in the conversation, but to me it's truly mindblowing how often Richie Blackmore is overlooked/not mentioned in the discussion. Because if not for him, so many other songs that people absolutely love wouldnt even exist. Dio's vocals combined with Blackmores composition/writing skills made Rainbow something so incredibly special. Once Dio left Rainbow, they were never even close to the same ever again in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Graham Bonnet did a great job filling Dio's shoes and had terrific vocals, but it just wasn't the same. Something about that Dio/Blackmore duo was just so special. So grateful we're able to have these recordings from this period of Rainbow to go back and listen to.

I have enjoyed this Concert on the 27.9.1976 in Düsseldorf/Phillipshalle. A friend of mine take a record on a SABA cassette recorder- but this here is much better from the quality! Thanks for this! Generaly Ritchi play Stargazer not often in this Concert Tour. And Ronnie James Dio(RIP) was a Lyrical Highlight! And we will also Remember Craig Gruber(Bass on the 1. Album- Rainbow) who dies of cancer aged 63 in April 2015. The Line up of this tour was: Ronnie James Dio> Vocals Tony Carey > Keyboard Cozy Powell > Drums (RIP) Jimmy Bain > Baß Ritchie Blackmore > Guitarre The best deal was Cozy at this time. His Solo Projekts flopps- and he need a new job. Now the man in Black circeld the rules of Membershipping. I`ver saw Concerts in Colonge 1978 , but this doesn't mach this Concert in Düsseldorf.

Sting (police) played in Argentina in the 80s, The military Junta was still ruling and you probably know Sting always was very involved with human rights, so probably Rainbown did not play due another reason

Yep, and there was also a Queen concert in Argentina, they even mentioned the regime in their documentary, with the soldiers walking around, many of them on the stadium, too.

This is amazing. What has happened to mainstream music. We went from genius like this to total garbage.

Asmodeus- The Great Dumbing Down is what has happened. It’s a lifelong plan begun in the late 1950’s and gone Full Wide Open Throttle by the Mideast 1960’s. Today’s noise & idiocy overall is the result.😢

Oh no, brother! Please listen to „the stage“ , or the good and old „art of life“ from X-japan! No, there are so many, you do not know!

Because of the lame rap crap kids don’t listen to hard rock or metal anymore. There wiggers now

Actually Europe is there to save us. Scandinavia and Germany especially are literally holding. Also helps that bands like Slipknot are becoming mainstream.

Awesome lineup, awesome song, awesome performance... I doubt we'll ever see so many icons of hard rock and heavy metal again combined in one band or performance...

High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water Nine years worth of breakin' my back There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard See how he glides, why he's lighter than air? Oh I see his face! Where is your star? Is it far, is it far, is it far? When do we leave? I believe, yes, I believe In the heat and the rain With whips and chains To see him fly So many die We build a tower of stone With our flesh and bone Just to see him fly But don't know why Now where do we go? Hot wind, moving fast across the desert We feel that our time has arrived The world spins, while we put his dream together A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky Oh I see his face! Where is your star? Is it far, is it far, is it far? When do we leave? Hey, I believe, I believe In the heat and the rain With whips and chains Just to see him fly Too many die We build a tower of stone With our flesh and bone To see him fly But we don't know why Ooh, now where do we go All eyes see the figure of the wizard As he climbs to the top of the world No sound, as he falls instead of rising Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand Oh I see his face! Where was your star? Was it far, was it far When did we leave? We believed, we believed, we believed In heat and rain With the whips and chains To see him fly So many died We built a tower of stone With our flesh and bone To see him fly But why In all the rain With all the chains Did so many die Just to see him fly Look at my flesh and bone Now, look, look, look, look, Look at his tower of stone I see a rainbow rising Look there, on the horizon And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home Time is standing still He gave back my will Ooh ooh ooh ooh Going home I'm going home My eyes are bleeding And my heart is leaving here But it's not home But it's not home Ooh Take me back He gave me back my will Ooh ooh ooh ooh Going home I'm going home My eyes are bleeding And my heart is leaving here But it's not home But it's not home Ooh Take me back, take me back Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh
