I recently learned that having John Williams score Home Alone was originally proposed as a ridiculous sort of joke when their original composer backed out, only for them to realize "the worst he can say is 'no'", and he had the availability and said "yes". I'm quite certain that that is at least 50% (probably more) of the reason that movie became the timeless classic that it did. Apparently, it was a low-budget film, otherwise, not expected to return very much. Hard to imagine, today, knowing of the movie's success.

It reminded me of an old Monty Python Sketch (Eric Eidle) where a couple are in bed, things start getting romantic, then b/w movie clips with a smokestack falling in reverse, the train into the tunnel, waves crashing, fountains squirting, a quick flash of Richard Nixon, then the train leaves the tunnel, and the smokestack falls. They pan away from the couple who are sitting up in the bed with a Super-8 movie projector, and the woman exclaims,"Why do we always have to watch these silly movies??"

And yes, the Tchaikovsky piece lasts about 20 minutes, so the 14 minute time stamp is accurate. That theme comes up a few times during the piece, however.

I do not know what drugs (medication) Mr. Hersch is on but I would really like to know the name of his therapist. He brings classical music a step closer to "ecstasy". The "Horror music" against the news footage was quite fitting. I didn't really notice any change, especially with the material chosen. The fact that it was done on NYE 2019, leading into 2020, makes it even more perfect, and quite prophetic.

@@RainerHerschKZbin Believe it or not, that's a question Canadians get asked a lot. It's a kick-ass big Country. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba, if I were to drive to Vancouver British Columbia it would take about 24 hours. Can't tell you the distance as many Canadians speak in time as opposed to distance. If I drive to Toronto Ontario it would be a 2 day drive. One day you've got to come here, the outdoors are stunning. Hope you to see you here in the future. Oh and the two Canadians, see we love you guys and we're watching.

I love this , humor and music combined to engage and entertain the audience, we do that a lot durng our concerts with our little fanfareband. We have a band member who is ver good at this , we dont like to do the normal stuffy announcements of the music we play

I tried the romance scene with romance music, and it's admittedly sweet, but I find the western music more heroic, motivating and powerful (especially the nice rattlesnake at the end). Well done!
