A relative of my wife had is own shop for years in Michigan. Had a four bay garage next to his house. Had a very good reputation. A few years ago a nearby tech school asked him to teach their auto repair tech class. He has been doing this and loves it. Works regular hours and only uses shop for his own vehicles or friends projects. With your intelligence and patience explaining technical procedures, you would probably be an excellent teacher/ instructor

Ray, I really like how you and Troy work together. He doesn't just jump ahead on things and seems really easy to teach. As you know, repetition will set habits. Any corrections you've given him he's taken gracefully. Plus, you always explain the why and don't assume he knows why. Correction without explanation just makes employees feel like they need to ask you about every single thing.

This kid reminds me of my self when i worked at a private shop. The dude was older he was cool some times just was majorly bipolar. It ended up not working out, was a major blessing in disguise. What i wanna say tho, if for some reason it doesn’t work out dont screw him over if you let him have a tool box let him keep it after too. At least if he never ACTUALLY wronged you.

On the wishbones insert front in first then back as you can lift angle of unit up to slide bolt it and then nut on as that is always the hard one as of the angle. Spraying with WD40 on the old unit ads ease to removing things and inserting them. No split pin in your steering arm RAY but its in the other side by Junior.

I went through the exact same thing with the same style power steering pump. What i end up doing the second time replacing it was taking a fluid extractor to the return hose and pull fluid through the reservoir pump lines rack then into the fluid extractor. I’m pretty sure there’s a tsb on how to do this due to how many problems they were having with people trying to burp air out of the system turning lock to lock without the car running then with it running. For whatever reason it doesn’t get enough air out, it caused the not having power steering under low rpm’s for me then it cooked the pump. Just food for thought in case you find yourself into another one of these pumps.
