Julius I was really getting worried watching you shaking with cold and working away with that knife. I was expecting to hear "Oh, oh my friends, I have SLICED OFF one of my unusually long fingers! But, not so painful with hypothermia you know. In a little while with the rigor mortis it can be used as a bowdrill. Always a silver lining in everything."

Jim Bruce It was obvious that you were joking, but at the least your joke seemed aimed at countering rigdigwus's comment about safety.

Your bow drill technique and knowledge has really improved! You may want to experiment with removing and discarding the inner strands from your paracoard. I found it wont stretch as much which means I don't have to string the bow so tight. Since the bow string isn't as tight the spindle wont fly out as often. Then I can use more length of the bow and get more revolutions per arm movement. Keep it up. We love the videos.

I really can't knock ya Julius even if I wanted to. Amazing perseverance my friend and tenacity in some horrendous bow drill conditions. It all takes a lot if time doing this from scratch and it is very easy to lose motivation and give up. I always find it's the quality of birds nest and converting the ember to flames which I struggle with in these conditions. It's bloody frustrating after all the hard work. Great effort Julius and positive outlook. Like you say fella 'Good training' .

Hey julius, really like how much you experiment and challenge yourself a lot of people settle or simply carry more stuff around once they've found one way that works for them. Reagarding embers you could let it sit a lot longer so it will turn into a big coal. If you have instagram check out nwprimate, he did a post once and did a post once showing an amber taking five minutes sit time to develop full potential. I think he's based in the pacific northwest so the climate might be kind of similar as well. He also does many other experiments and recently a lot of hunting weapons himself so you might enjoy his content as much as I do.
