What do you mean offline? Did that vid get taken down? It was/is a great vid though, others usually do bushcraft because they enjoy it, not to get no sleep and be cold all night just to test the simple concept of burrowing into a pile of leaves. Not many people do this uncomfortable stuff on their own decision.

Echt goed bezig

Hi, thanks for toughing it out for the video, it must have been very uncomfortable to say the least mate. This just goes to show how important it to try and not get lost in the first place, and also keeping hold of your pack at all times. Having some essential bits and pieces in your pockets as back up for this kind of situation would be a good idea, and wouldn't weigh much. Better to have it and not need it. Thanks for going the extra mile for us, and showing what it's realy like in that scenario, stay safe mate, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

When you kick yourself into a leaf shelter as you did your just scattering the leaves and losing all the effort put into building the pile, you had the materials around you to make a rough frame to pile the leaves onto hence making a better sturdier survival shelter 👌🏻

There is a line from an old movie I saw which is "victory loves preparation". Now, some think I am a bit weird when it comes to what I carry but, you never know what might come. I usually carry a mini first aid kit, a paranoid bracelet with other assorted tools built into the bracelet, Leatherman, and a emergency blanket on me during the winter. They are pretty light weight and don't take up much room at all in my jacket. It's always good to have a backup and even better to have a backup to the backup. Great video by the way. Looking forward to your future adventures and can't wait for the roundhouse living experience.

What one needs to do is find the highest point, and look for the edge of the forest A creek or river especially as they will eventually lead to civilization in most cases. But have faith and hope most of all folks, don’t forget who created this extraordinary nature

Где есть сельхоз угодья, даже зимой можно пережить ночь в стогу сена. Сухие (именно сухие!) листья и траву можно набить между слоями одежды - хорошо помогают утеплиться.

This is why we have pockets. A decent quality space blanket, knife, lighter, some cordage, a basic compass and some cooking foil will quite literally be the difference between life and death

Holly Grove bro!?! Right behind you! Cmon now, as a tree guy you've gotta give it a go at least once... They've saved me from hypothermia in rainstorms more than once. Not comfortable if you're not in thick clothes but it's better than wet leaves 💯

Thank you for taking this cold simulation for us! It makes me wonder; would it be a good idea to try and make this shelter in the fashion of "elevated fire lay"? Just so its easier to crawl in without messing up the shelter and easier, to then "release" top part to cover ourselves?

A night walking or standing at 4°C is unbearable. After the first hour or so you become really tired and want to lie down anyway. It's a good idea to find firs if there are any near by and use their smaller branches.

In those horrible circumstances, I'd be more concerned about hypothermia than snakes or other creatures, here in North America. We have snakes, but like the insects, they are less active in the cold. More likely to uncover one digging up leaves, than crawling into a shelter you've made. (They will flee activity if they can.) In US, about 5 snakebite deaths per annum, versus 1300 by hypothermia. Vast majority of snakebites are from people messing with snake in some way.

Am i really the only one, who thinks this video was re-uploaded? I remember watching this video years ago. The old road, the reflector strap on the tree, the fact that he couldn't sleep well that night and did push ups to warm him self up. I predicted the last 2 things before watching the rest of the video, because i remembered. But this message is not supposed to be an accusation or a hate comment. I really love your content and I can understand if you re-uploaded this video because you felt like this content is important for especially the new people on this channel.

😂 bro I’m crying, all that work getting the leaves and when he goes to lay down they all fall under him. 💀 Should’ve just put some twigs over you. Next time maybe lay the branches first with enough space for you to go under, then the leaves, then more branches?
