Absolutely agree. Both films and both soundtracks, main themes are beautiful, majestic and so suit their films. Somewhere In Time theme always makes me cry, as does the film of course. That plus Raise the Titanic, as that poor old ship launches herself through the deeps and once more into the air, wavelets pouring off her superstructure like liquid confetti.. Mt heart almost breaks with sadness that it cain never happen in real life . If onlys abound of course, but this is real life and sadness tends to rule. If I could but dwell in fiction and live through music such as these . My life then Would be perfect, qué Sera Sera... ❤️

This movie,surprisingly enough, received a one-star rating by critics when released. But I thought it to be Barry's masterpiece--even surpassing his many James Bond scores. I can only think of the acting as being a bit insipid; but the story, special effects and music render this a classic well worth keeping in the movie archives. The music captures the spirit of the great cruiseliner and is hauntingly beautiful and reverent.

Thanks for Upload. It is said that "original master tape" was lost.I cannot believe that origin of such a outstanding art was lost easily. Re-recording project by Nic. Raine is great but some music is different from original one. For example score for "Search Light dropping sequence" is shorter than original one (same as Video but different from original film version in Japan) It is over two minutes for this sequence and is rended as "Reiquem" for Titanic. it is highlight of both film score and film visual art but it was recored as short version. I hope that perfect version is recorded and original tape is found in the future. Titanic maynot be raised, But John Barry's original art may be found in some day as they search "Titanic" in the film.

The score was so right for the film and is one of Barry's best. The opening with the jaunty shots of the construction of the ship and launch with all the optimism, then the switch to her underwater grave and the grim music? Brilliant! Yes, the movie was badly done, but not the score--it is a gem nonetheless.

this soundtrack is the most beautiful music I've listened to its breathtaking inside of me I'm always been fascinated by the titanic I used to be a member of the national Titanic society after Robert Ballard found the titanic I saw on national geographic videos VCR tape & cable television most people don't know The Titanic can't be raised not in the condition now over one hundred years since it sank The majestic Olympic & Titanic & Brittanic all met with terrible tragedy
@sitcomsTV9 жыл бұрын
+Plymouthneon Sedantwo: This movie was made BEFORE the Titanic remains where discovered. It's based on a book. Acording to survival witness, the ship sunk in one peace - so it was believed until it was discovered. Some witness said the ship break in two, just split on the middle. But because most of the 1st class passengers who left earlier said that was not the case, people wonder. They did not know in which versions to believe. But it was true... The dark night didn't allow them to see it fully happening.
@turricaned9 жыл бұрын
+Plymouthneon Sedantwo - To be fair, Olympic (or 'Oly') served with distinction in wartime and peacetime for 24 years. In retrospect it's sad that she had to submit meekly to the cutter's torch, but that was the way of things back then...

This is about.. oh.. what?.. a Million times?.. more sophisticated than James Horner's Enya trite that sounds outdated & old as it's Dion counterpart!! John Barry's scores are timeless & memorable, as well as poignant, ever lasting. He had such an extensive repertoire & even larger plethora of sounds to match the subject matter. He once said "Music is the most personal thing to a man". I'm not sure I can apply that to Kayne West or One Direction!! But you really feel that in John's music.
