Is it too late? Perhaps no one will see these post. I lived in Africa. I lived as a young girl in Nairobi. And I loved it. This film brought it all back.: the sound, the people, the smell of the landscape.. My mother is gone now. And yet this is what brings her back to me.

It is yet another Year later than when you posted (2024) now. I hope you are well. I am 60 now and live in Australia. I was born in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) in 1963 and lived in Africa for the first 12 years of my life. I remember it well. I love this Movie and the Soundtrack - hard to believe the Movie and Sound Track were first released 39 years ago. My father passed away 11 years ago but my mother is still going strong at 86. God Bless

It is never too late. I never lived in Africa and a pure white person so to speak but that movie and music made me feel I lived there in a former life. As long of the sounds and evn the smell live around you, know that your Mom is still alive and is looking over you. That movie and music mad me feel like I was flying over my homeland where I can find the beginning and the end, peace at last.I always wanted to go there but I limit my travels to see my Mom in France considering she is 97. Treasure the memories, smell, landscape, the people and the music that brings you back to your Mom. She is technically gone but not spiritually. She lives in you through that. Embrace her spirit

This soundtrack is bittersweet for me. I cry every time I hear it. It’s been years now. Me and my brother, my only sibling listened to this together. He was diagnosed in 1986 with AIDS. In 1994 he became ill. He wasn’t ready to die. He fought the battle for 2 years. This lovely song was his favorite. It helped to bring him peace and calmed his heart. Michael was a beautiful person who loved life. I look forward to meeting you in heaven with our Lord.

I lived in South Africa for 48 years & spent most of my holidays driving around various National wildlife parks and taking safari drives with game rangers. John Barry captures the stillness & drama of Africa's magnificent wildlife, the peace of a dawn or watching animals through the fantastical colours caught & refracted by a dusty savannah sunset. Just driving for mile after mile, Africa's wild open spaces drains all stress & worry from you, stills your mind & opens your heart to new vistas, new adventures, one with nature & sharing that special bond between God's created Kingdom with those you love. John Barry's music captures this perfectly.

The flying sequence always reminds me of my Parents. Not because of the plot, but in the fact that the were both instructor pilots who met working together after WWII. They flew open cockpit biplanes and fell in love soaring through the skies, including landing on beaches like in one scene. They would have both turned 100 years old this year. Dad flew with the USAAF in the South Pacific and Mom was a civilian instructor pilot. “The Greatest Generation”. I miss them so.

John Barry was not human . He was an alien descended from the high heavens. No human being can aspire to achieve the Godliness of his music. His music was... and is in perfect sync with the Creator. The vastness, the non-perception of time, the drama and the awareness of how negligible is Man compared to all of Creation.

Love Kenya with a passion and this film and its music stirs memories. Lucky to have visited twice - once at 17 and again at 29 with my new wife - camping both times. The second time, whilst at a campsite near Olorgesailie in the Rift Valley, we heard lions calling to each other in the still of the night. It was the most memorable sound in nature I have ever heard. Somehow, it was reassuring, rather than frightening - whilst the bull elephant at Amboseli, which stayed the night outside our tent, was a little less comforting.

In awe we breath in this most glorious score, learn the brilliance of John Barry and marvel, enthralled. Who else could rival the sweeping masterpiece of Maurice Jarre in Laurence of Arabia. A Passage to India, Doctor Zhivago. This cannot be heard without emotion, it compels tears and must evoke memories of life's deepest experience. Who can not be moved by the hypnotic cadence, sweet passages of beauty which simply blow like warm winds over grassland, in such effortless flow. Ah, and that haunting woodwind . . the sublime tempo and perfectly measured, supremely . . knowing . . pace. The melody, exquisite, perfect, wraps around your soul, cuts through the heart and shatters with a note all defences. The senses soar in glorious moments of ecstacy and the mind seems to lift to a place . . just for a little while, higher. John Barry we thank you. It is art that makes civilisation

I first listened to this piece of music when I was the ripe age of 13 in music class. It brought a tear to my eye and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Still to this day 6 years later it had the same effect on me bringing back good memories and members of family who've passed. I love this piece of music, it has more meaning than anyone can understand.

I remember when my friend and I went to see this movie when it first came out we were a few minutes late and walked into the theater just as the music started and the beauty of it just took my breath away. I will never forget that moment.

When I was young, probably around 3 years old, my mom always listened to this song all the time and every time she played it, it used to make me cry. Now that I'm 18 I came back to listen to it again, and I don't know how my eyes are sweating for no reason :)

John Barry understood Mozart. The Clarinet Concerto in A Major is written all over his music in this. With a great deal of the Sturm und Drang. What would we do...Where would we be... without the inspiration from those who preceded?

The magnificent musical score by John Barry is all I can remember from Out of Africa. I think that I've seem the film twice and I can't even remember what the plot, film or performances were about. Sorry Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. That beautiful musical score can still stay in your memory even a long time after seeing the film. In my opinion, another boring overrated Oscar winning best picture win.

A superb soundtrack from a movie that was clearly not of its mid-80s era. The cinematography along with this soaring score was more reminiscent of Hollywood's golden age movies.

Oh how I love this beautifully moving music. I remember seeing the movie when it first came out in 1985. I was 25 years old and a HUGE romantic (still am..💕). I fell in love with the movie and the music and had to run out and buy the cassette tape (lol) right away....and now I have the CD. I must’ve listened to this soundtrack thousands and thousands of times. Last time I watched the movie though was probably 30 years ago. Hard to believe it’s been that long....wow. Might have to watch again soon. I was SO in love with that romantic story.....and the romantic music....and with Robert Redford and of course the incomparable Merryl Streep.
