That’s a good man that cared about his friend. Being faced with a knife with no weapon in your hand is fucking terrifying. Two of my “friends” thought they were being funny CHASING me with an 8” chef’s knife because they pointed it at me and I told them to back up. They advanced with each step back I took and the kept laughing and JABBING it at me. I was behind the couch with it six inches from me while they laughed. And I was still the one that took things too seriously. I carry a knife everywhere with me now 😅

@@DudeWhoSaysDeez - There absolutely was chaos. That chaos happened during the whole confrontation between the perp and victims. When you have no idea of the "who, what, why, where, when, and how" of the situation you find yourself, is the definition of chaos. Human life IS chaos - self created or imposed upon us. Humans (8 Billion+ of us) overwhelmingly, do not create violence, melees or worse due to the chaos in our lives. You seem to confuse cause with affect. chaos /kā′ŏs″/ noun 1) A condition or place of great disorder or confusion. 2) A disorderly mass; a jumble. "The desk was a chaos of papers and unopened letters." 3) The disordered state of unformed matter and infinite space supposed in some cosmogonic views to have existed before the ordered universe.

The DA can bring charges without the victim's involvement. It's better to have the victim testify, but not necessary to move forward with charges that the state picks up, they just use the store's video, and the video of the interviews to establish the case. If the victim had to press charges, murder would essentially be legal.

I wish cops would explain this better. I got jumped a few years ago really bad and wound up in the hospital with a bunch of staples in my head - the cops found the guy, but I didn’t understand what it meant to “press charges” (I thought that since I got a few hits in, then it would mean I was in trouble too), so they guy basically got away with a slap on the wrist. I really wish I knew what it meant at the time because I DEFINITELY would have pressed.

That young man's situational awareness was spot on that night...he probably saved his buddy & himself from a a bad knife wound, or even death. In NO WAY was the attacker "pulling my knives out to drop them"...we can see that after they're in his hands he takes another step or two forward -- at that point, the young man's punch was a clear-cut case of self-defense, as knives are considered deadly/lethal-force weapons, especially when drawn/held by someone under 7 meters from you. The suspect is lucky those young men weren't armed themselves, they'd be well within their rights to shoot him in that situation. Keep your head on a swivel out in public, folks.

They weren't trying to "trip up the victim", they cross reference things to make sure their story is true lol. It's literally how you collect evidence so that your case is stronger and the person at fault is actually held accountable rather than released on some bullshit technicality.
