My dog is a border collie, I love him with all my heart and it is the most important thing for me, I am 9 years old and I taught him by myself without any tutorials or with the help of anyone to sit down, give the paw, beg to jump over obstacles and more. Border Collies are the most intelligent dog breed in the world.

@@TheExploringK9s Are they as hyperactive as people tend to say? I'm planning on getting one and i want to train him well, not neglect him. But i see people typing if he doesnt get 2+ hours of daily mental physical excercise they get destructive, even aggressive etc. As i said i dont plan to neglect him or anything. But are they hard to manage compared to other dogs? Would really appreciate a reply
@TheExploringK9s4 жыл бұрын
@@CroLukas It can be exaggerated as it tends people get poorly bred ones and on top pair it with little to no training, which can most definitely leave you with a very busy dog on the go 24/7! A lot goes into the breeder you get from, I search for a breeder who produces a off switch, doesn’t breed neurotic dogs (aka dogs who can get very over stimulated, want to stay busy, highly sensitive to motion/anything, etc) and overall breeds a nice balance of a dog who will turn on and go when you want but will relax when you don’t want to do anything (with the help of some training of course) but personally the right breeder and trainer they are so biddable and fun but also so easy going! Now I won’t keep my dog in the house with no training or exercise for a week, but if there’s a few days that are rainy or bad weather...my dogs will overall be fine and relax with the right structure like any other dog. I provide training and some sort of exercise relatively frequently though as I have the ability, time, and it makes me feel good trying to meet needs that they might not *always* necessarily need! But even my breeder will say, they can go compete, but also lay in the house all day and relax! So just look for a breeder where you can meet the dogs, are ethical and produce a temperament you like, look up some “place” videos and etc for training (which I’ll be starting a training series on here by the latest of within the month of February so feel free to subscribe to use that for help) but yeah! It’s definitely manageable and yes they can be a lot but with the right circumstances you can enjoy them just like any other breed!

Watching Unity grow reminded me so much of my late Border Collie Skye, she taught herself to alert to my asthma without any one telling her, she and I were inseparable, at 5 years old she took a severe reaction to a new booster vaccination, and had to be put down, the WORST day of my life, I was broken before I had her and she held me together and kept me alive. 2 weeks later my husband said you’re not coping and we need to find a helper. I’d had a springer before Skye. We stumbled on a Sprocker Spaniel litter, pups just born at 2 weeks old and went to see the boy. Meg had other ideas, she’s now 7 years old, but Skye is with us everyday and at times I swear her spirit has taught meg spirits of Skye’s quirks! Meg has now taught herself to help with my pain, I get extreme pain and cannot take any pain meds, Meg keeps me from spiralling and when she senses it she is determined to help and does! Dogs are amazing. I wish I had your skill to have trained meg as an official service dog. Trouble is U.K. laws are very different. ❤ thank you for the smile, I hope you ah e many years of companionship and adventures and support ❤

She slowly died away, She was 13 or 14 years old, She was blind, she wasn't barking properly anymore, she wasn't breathing , She was partially deaf and she got extremly skinny. And yes we tried to feed her. What I want to say, it's that She was my childhood dog, we had her since I was at the kindergarten (sorry for misspelling) and now I'm a teen. She tried to protect us at all costs. Maybe, press f in the comments if you want. R.I.P. Panda 2009 - 2023

I just got a French Bulldog puppy named Jazzy. Not the smartest puppy, but a real kind-hearted and chill dog in general. She's still a puppy and I'm trying to teach her to not be scared of loud noises and be trembly and scared of everything like small dogs tend to be like, and taking her to places like Home Dopet like in your video has helped her be calm around loud noises... Your little teaching sessions with your Border Collie seemed interesting, but I didn't know they worked so well! Now, I've had some paid training for my Frenchie, but little tips like 'loosen the leash' and 'teach her to wait so she will have patience' really help. Your video is both adorable and slightly informative on how to train a big dog, and provided hints for small dog owners. Thanks! Edit: btw your brown collie is absolutely. gorgeous.

@TheExploringK9s3 жыл бұрын
Her from a puppy to a year old is coming out Wednesday (on her birthday) 🥰 Also it definitely depends on the area you’re in and how common/risky the parasites and etc issues that puppy could catch from being out and about! Also a lot of it is me holding the puppy, or if pet friendly I’d put her in a cart, and only place her down for training time! It’s just good management and watching them at all times and making sure your area isn’t severe in those issues, for instance if I lived in Arizona I wouldn’t of taken her out to pet stores or etc before full shots unless being strictly held or so on due to how extreme Parvo is there! Also I do not have a video on a puppy schedule but I could definitely make a detailed video about it in the future! My posting for training content should get more consistent here soon and I’ll eventually have all the helpful tips and tricks for puppies uploaded 🥰 and thank you so much for the kind words!

Awe! I’m glad that you loved it! I’m also happy to hear you’re finally picking up your new puppy! So I didn’t use much reading material or etc to do all of this just years of built up knowledge raising dogs/studying. Karen prior is an amazing trainer. I recommend overall just creating a structure and schedule, have them earn their freedom. Not allowed to roam if out of sight. Be consistent, set the rules you want as an adult as a puppy, start training day one. My Instagram account @The.Exploring.K9s even has a highlights with tons of puppy tips!

@@TheExploringK9s Thanks for all the great advice, I've always been a self taught trainer to my pets and they've all learned beautifully...even my cats can do simple tricks! I am so impressed with your dedication, and particularly in awe of the recall with distraction training...amazing! I will have to work on that one in particular because my pets think if I'm talking it certainly must be to them! Thanks again for producing and sharing such a warm and inspiring video!

So Cute dog I wanna get myself one Border Collie soon it will be a little puppy and the reason why it would be little is cause it's easier to train when it's little.

@@TheExploringK9s My dog is sweet, but he got abused sooo he is a little stand-offish. He doesn’t like snuggles, so we don’t snuggle him. He will expect the occasional 3 second hug tho👍🏻😉
