This was very interesting to listen to. My husband and I have really not thought much about this. We really need to think more long term, and prepare our children to be excellent stewards of the gifts that God gives them! I love how I walk away from your podcasts always feeling optimistic, excited and encouraged to serve the Lord with my whole heart, and be diligent with my home and my family. You call me to higher. Thank you for that!!

This is a really great conversation. You hit so many good points about our personal outlooks and the current Church's belief of money. This is a specific episode I will pointing my community to! Thank you both for being diligent to share with us, even in your big life transitions.

Genuine question: Why do you assume that the choices your children make or are going to make are directly tied to how well you parented? Like if a child took their inheritance and squandered it, that would mean you did a terrible job parenting them? My parents (though not perfect) are steadfast in their faith and strived to raise all 6 of us kids Biblically, with a lot of love, and did a remarkable job. A handful of us took some hard turns off that path and I can’t imagine if my parents carried that as their own “fault” for not raising us correctly.

That is a very gracious perspective to offer. I think it's so hard not to feel responsible when they are frankly your responsibility for so many years. I acn already see huge personality differences in my 3 under 4 so I know not too much of it me! My husband is strong in faith while his two older brothers have turned away from the faith years ago and it's hard not to wonder why and what one could have done differently. I'm sure it breaks his parents' hearts and they don't treat them any differently than us, but when friends have children who all stayed in the faith you must feel at fault.

Also, I will add that I wasn't raised Christian and became one which was certainly not because of my upbringing.

Ultimately you can do everything “right”… but God is still the author and perfecter of our faith. Everyone has a different heart and what some may struggle with others do not. Thats the beauty of each testimony, too! The Lord is gracious

"That's not why we're here" :D haha, I love you guys. Been following for a couple years and you are so inspiring, I cannot believe you all are living in a tent right now, it is so fun to follow your journey. I just find it so amazing that you are doing podcast episodes off grid with a family of littles and always with a great attitude. You make some good points here about children needing to experience the trials and tribulations of life outside of their bubbles. I needed that reminder here, from the suburbs in Canada. I am not sure how to implement it here but the seed has been planted.

Thank you for bringing up the theology of work and the idolatry of leisure. You made such great points. I think we would lose a lot of stress if we simply had GODs worldview of His world.

Thank you for this episode! I wonder, though, what role giving to charities should play in Christians' lives. When, how, and where should we give to the poor? I think immediately of Proverbs 19:17: Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

I have a request for a topic in a episode is FALSE teachings. There is so much false teaching going on in the churches & around the world. The bible is so clear about this & being watchful of it. Would be a great conversation of what to look out for & what to do if we see it in our own church.

Yes if we Christians had a growth mindset we’d still own the hospitals instead of having to have homebirths for our healthy children but sending babies like mine with an extra chromosome with NO PROLIFE DOCTOR to help them. She died of heart failure from a treatable heart defect but not enough Christians own the hospitals.
