They nailed the heart of the matter in under 3 minutes. No debate needed. My slave desire that I fight with is stuff and keeping up with fashion and decor trends. I wake up wondering what is new and pretty. I don't desire things I am not exposed to like substances or sexual stuff, so what I learned in 3 mins is worldview and what I am exposing my brain to. My plan...less exposure to that stuff, focus on other things like hiking and get that so called need under control. But only with Christ because my idols are not lasting happiness. ❤

Yes! I can relate to this! That hunger for more stuff never ends.. 😅 My goal is to be content with what God has given me and to not get pulled into the scheme of being distracted by constantly looking for more things to fill my life with.. especially clothes. It’s a distraction from the One who gives life, meaning and fulfilment. It reminds me of the pilgrims progress where some of the pilgrims journeying towards Jesus are distracted and stopped by shopping and nice things that never ends.

I truly appreciated this episode. My husband and I are facing this situation with a family member currently, and I appreciated all the different aspects covered and biblical points referenced. Thank you both for helping to support it coming from a place of love and not hate towards the individual.

I wouldn't be happy, as a Christian mom my worldview is changed knowing the eternal consequences would be painful knowing my child is headed there knowingly, it would be the same way if they embraced any other sin or downright rejected Jesus....I wouldn't shun them i would still love them regardless but i wouldn't accept or support their sin or any sin.

So important to be talking about this. Thank you for modeling a great example of how to speak with each other and our children on these topics. The culture is bombarding our kids minds with images and ideas contrary to God’s word.

I have two siblings who identify homosexually. The path to loving them but making clear clear clear to them our stance on their lifestyle is foggy and uncertain. Sometimes I wonder if we (my parents and myself) are doing this right before God. Any advice? I also ask for prayers! There is much bitterness in their hearts towards the Lord, specifically on this subject. Thank you, Elisha and Katie! I always appreciate your biblical stance and wisdom ❤

I think I struggle with the fact of I don’t have the ability to judge. I’m not Jesus. So I think even if it is a sin, if they are not my children, I don’t have any say on the matter/influence and I am not gonna dislike someone because of it. I feel we should still love them and show them Jesus. Kind of the story about the prostitute and Jesus saying throw a stone if you have not sinned. I cannot. So I think I struggle in that way. I don’t wanna turn people away from Jesus bc of this one thing

Respectfully, if we do not loving point out the truth, we could be keeping them from Jesus. Souls are on the line.

The Bible doesn’t say we cannot judge though. We are to uphold the truth that the Bible proclaims. We should do so lovingly. It’s also not a matter of disliking. If we know that unrepentant sin leads to death, eternal death, how loving is it to stand aside and say “well I can’t judge them, not my kids, etc”? It isn’t loving or kind when we know where that leads to.

Currently going through Rosaria Butterfields new study in a small group with others who family members are walking with this sin. It’s fascinating & solid! I highly recommend Five Lies of our Anti Christian age! It’s so sad to see solid pastors (Alistair Begg) fall to this culture :(

This was an interesting discussion--albeit a little rough in the first 15 minutes. But as the episode went on, you guys articulated things a lot more clearly. I would just recommend in the future to be careful of language that would imply that "Bible believing Christians" are only straight. What I mean is, that there are many who have ssa and do not act on those desires, and give that burden to Christ daily, and I would describe them as Bible believing Christians...who struggle with a particular sin. I understand your aversion to the term "gay Christian" and agree with you...but at times it seemed like you were saying that people who struggle with this cannot possibly be Christians. I have friends who identified as gay and prayed, and were completely delivered! It was awesome! But I also have friends who would say they are ssa and ask for deliverance all the time and do not receive it...much like the thorn in Paul's flesh. There is a lot of nuance on this topic and I applaud you for tackling it. I highly recommend Preston Sprinkle's "Grace and Truth," "Grace and Truth 2.0," "A People to be Loved," and "Embodied" for further research and understanding.

🙄 people were homosexual before plastic was invented. Also plastic does not have the ability to influence people’s sexuality. At all.

This was an amazing episode you guys. I'm not a parent yet but listening to the Now That We're a Family podcast has been an incredible resource for me when I think of how my husband and I want to instill truth in our children so thank you for addressing the topics that you do. As a Christian wife, what I want most for my family and future children is to steward them back to Christ and raise them to do the same for their children one day. With how common and out there this whole movement is and how hard the world tries to normalize all these agendas, it's so amazing to hear you talk about it in this light. I know God was with you when y'all were recording this one. ♡

I love you guys. But can't agree with this. Having sexual desire is super important in a marriage. A gay person can't desire the opposite sex. That's a recipe for suffering for both the gay person, and the straight person that the gay person is married to.

I’m new to this but how do you explain to others that don’t follow the Bible completely, but like my sis says she doesn’t want to teach a mean/scary God to her kids that tells Abraham to kill his son, etc also how do you know the Bible was translated correctly?
@joannatripp7831
@joannatripp7831 6 ай бұрын
Hey there Amanda! So, overall, God is a completely loving and caring and kind Savior. But that is expressed in reading throughout the entire Scripture from start to finish & it is so evident. As for it being translated. Bible translation is taken so seriously and really over hundreds of years it has retained it's authority. Bible scholars are still reaffirming this truth. I have been a Christian since I was 5 years old but to my shame I had never fully read through God's Word and it's entirety until 3 years ago. I'm now on my third time through reading it chronologically. I can't even express to me being a Christian my entire life, almost how this has illuminated my understanding and changed my life. I highly encourage you to do this as well. All the while. Praying that the Lord will give you discernment and understanding.

We don’t need a book abt the mind lol It’s not about changing the mind and your body association. it’s about choosing and leaning to be away from God, not having a relationship with him at all. it’s very simple to understand. If you are not with God you are literally against God. They have allow themselves to be surrounded with lust and sinful thoughts. And it’s only up to them to repent and seek God.
