I love that you're showing the masters at work, and highlighting that it is nowhere near as easy as they make it look. A lot of building skills aren't super well respected, but they should be because they are just as important and applicable today as they were 700 years ago.

Battista is so wholesome. You can tell he showed off and teased a bit because he got flattered, and to humble often invisible hardworkers like him it doesn't happen often. He also was genuinely passionate about teaching to Brady, otherwise he wouldn't have corrected him and made him try.

My Sunday routine. I come home from church, get my coffee, and watch Raising Voyagers! My hubby knows this routine is set in stone.... watching a house of stone! What an amazing house of stone this is. It has stood the test of time and will continue to do so as a work of art! 💜 I'm so glad you both chose to share your journey on KZbin. So much trash on the media that it's refreshing to have your videos, something life giving to watch. Yes, this new life you both are "breathing into your family" is lifegiving to witness. Your dedication and energy Brady with the talented crew you hired is wonderful to behold. Heather, thank you for all the work you do to edit and prepare these videos for us. The beams and doorways are beautiful! Such craftmanship. Have a blessed week!!

Yes, Sunday is dedicated to God, meditation, reading, and then gardening ...so I don't always get to the Voyagers then, but as soon as I can get to them they are usually the first among a few other favorites. They are such a joy to watch!! 🥰☺💓💞💖

You are doing amazing! Just remember Brady, this builder has probably being doing this type of work for more than 50 years, it’s not an easy task to render, & build ancient walls etc, it takes many years of experience to get to his level! Everyone can see how incredibly hard you work, Gosh, how many others would do the amount of work you have done around such experience people, & in a foreign Country…..Not many! Please don’t be so hard on yourself, I’m sure Heather tells you this often too! Just look at what you have achieved so far in such a short amount of time! Take care, with all my love, & big hugs to you all. From Aberdeenshire, Scotland ❤🤗xxx

The American chestnut was wiped out a century ago, thats why its so expensive . I remember them and how absolutely beautiful they were. You could stand under them during the rain and hardly get a drop. Climbing them was like climbing to the moon it was so big we would play on them all day. I miss them, they are like old friends.

Chestnut is a special tree for sure!
@valhalla3406 ай бұрын
here in Italy, at least in the north, the chestnut has now almost become a pest since the end of agricultural civilization in the mountains. chestnut and oak trees were placed on the borders of cultivated lands and pastures, to provide food for humans and animals, and the end of the maintenance of land for agricultural purposes caused an enormous proliferation of chestnut-only woods and the disappearance of meadows. the problem is also that the chestnut tree tends to be acidic, its presence and its leaves on the ground sour the soil, prevents creating a real undergrowth, but at most brambles, ferns and brooms. long live the use of chestnut as construction wood, it could save biodiversity, but unfortunately it currently costs companies less to obtain pine wood from Austria and Eastern Europe.

Yes, 8x8 chestnut beams , especially here in the USA are rare and expensive. A blight wiped nearly all mature American Chestnut trees so an 8x8 here costs a ton. Wormy Chestnut in particular, salvaged from old barns and other structures, is very, very expensive.

A couple of hard and fast rules about chainsawing: 1) Never, ever, look directly down on the blade while sawing. If the saw kicks back, you WILL take it in the face, and those injuries, if you survive are horrific! 2) Never cut on the rounded tip. One is begging for a kick back!
