Is the 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Jailbreak the ULTIMATE new muscle car to BUY?

Joe, as for the wheel choice, I do like the gun-metal gray as it is contrasted with the blue calipers. I can also see the idea of using a flat black as an alternative, but this one is my preference. As for collecting the tears of the other "muscle car" drivers, I wouldn't actually collect them. I'd use a loofa sponge to soak them up! I have to say that I truly admire your opportunities to drive some of these fabulous vehicles over the years from the Mopar family. I haven't driven a Challenger since 1970 when a Navy buddy of mine bought one. It had a Hurst 4-speed shifter with the venerable 440 Hemi. What a kick-butt car that was!

EV cars and trucks is going to fail car manufacturing in due time. Who realistically can afford them? And two, the current power grid hasn't been upgraded in decades. I wonder who's paying for all this "clean energy" alternatives? Your favorite politicians aren't going to pay for it, yet they so call vouch for bills in legislative bodies to be passed because of environmental concerns, hmm. Go figure...

That car is perfect! The blue stripe on the granite gray is not a combination I would have thought to put together but it works well. Blue badging would have looked good, I agree. While I own a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody is what I truly want. Don’t get me wrong, I love my GS but it lacks that pure, beastly, muscle car presence. But these are first world problems and I won’t complain. Plus my wife prefers the GS to the Challenger. Enough said.

Nice job..!! Back in December 1967 I factory ordered a 1968 Charger R/T. It had a 440/ 385 hp with Tourqueflite trans. So, I consider myself a charter member, of the Dodge muscle car era.... The great thing about this Jailbreak is, it definitely make me proud. However, it also makes me sad.. I guess, as the years are catching up to me, so is technology catching up to the internal combustion engine and all the fun we had in the 60s.. BTW.. That's me and my 68 Charger R/T. pictured..!

I had a 2018 Widebody Hellcat Manual Shift. These cars are ligit missles and can turn a corner way better than you think. You wouldn't think so until you actually experience it. Very well balanced and predictable handling. Remember, German Mercedes Autobahn underpinnings on these chassis.

I too had one as well and while we agree they are missiles, they are fat dogs in the corners. I traded mine in on a zl1 1LE that blows it away on the track, or anywhere that it’s not a straight line.

Thanks for explaining the difference between this Jailbreak Hellcat Red-eye Widebody and the Hellcat Red-eye Widebody and Hellcats. I'd certainly get the Hellcat Red-eye Jailbreak Widebody because you get to personalize it and even the Stripes, badges and interior panels to be colored in your choosing! That's phenomenal, thank you Dodge!! I love this body style, I don't care HOW long it's been out! The hardest thing would be picking the colors! There's so many and just one car, unless you're a millionaire and can get more than 1. In my opinion, the Sinnamon Stick(I know how to spell Cinnamon for you grammar police) looks fabulous, the Indigo Blue as well as the Flourescent Green which I wish was in a metallic instead of a solid, but they've got great choices that's the dilemma! Great info, enthusiasm and presentation of this awe inspiring muscle car!!

Another great review. I had the 2019 Hellcat and I have to agree the tires are garbage. They need to run summer drag radials. The price is crazy too. I would still rather make payments on a V8, than any electric POS. Don't like them, don't want the government telling me what I can and cannot drive. Electric cars support China.... Great job as always to Lori. She is by far the best. Now, time to take my 21 SS 1LE out for a drive and smoke them tires with my 6 speed....

Gonna be hard to pick one of these up in the next year I feel and if you do get one be prepared to pay big time. I remember when I bought my wide body Redeye in 2019 it was $83,000, now you can't even get one for that price. At my local dealership they have a 2021 Hellcat with 6K miles for 80K and it's not even a wide body or Redeye. 😳
