FIRST LOOK: The Integra is back and Acura is some sport and luxury for the 2023. This Integra will go up against the Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Elantra N, and VW Jetta GLI. On the outside of the A-Spec you will see totally different sheet metal, 19in wheels, and carbon fiber accents. On the inside there is a 10.25in digital display, along with a 9in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 200HP & is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Is the NEW 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec a BETTER car than a Honda Civic Si?

I don’t understand the hate for this car. Dating back to the old Integra, it has always been an fancy Civic. This is only the base Integra (based on the Civic Si), that’s why it only has 200 hp, the Type S will get the K20C1 from the Civic which has over 306 hp. The new Civic is best in class so how is the Integra being a even better Civic a bad thing? Many features on this that you can’t get in the Civic Si, a HUD, ambient lighting, USB-C, wireless charging, leatherette seats, heated seats, better materials, better sound system, digital cockpit, a hatchback which has more cargo room, a WAY better exhaust, etc. This is a CLA, A3, 2 Series competitor, so it’s not trying to beat your GTI, Golf R, Elantra N, or GR Corolla. This will sale good. Only complaint is the CVT, no performance car should have a CVT.
@Tsand4

@@Tsand4 It’ll cost more because it’s marketed as a class above them. The Integra is a A3, CLA250, BMW 228i Gran Coupé competitor per Acura. The Civic Si’s competitors are the GTI, N-line (Not N), GLI, etc. Compared to the Integra’s competitors, you get a lot of value. The Type S won’t be inexpensive but it also shares a architecture with the best handling FWD car ever made.

I wanted a Coupe but I understand why there isn’t one and I agree with the CVT, they should’ve used the 8 speed DCT from the CDX to pair with the 1.5t, another complaint is the lack of rear air vents. I purchased a white Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback this weekend. There were about 6 Hondas on the lot. I was there because my 2020 Toyota Corolla SE Hatchback was at the dealer for its 2 year checkup. To my surprise the saleswoman indicated that the truck had just dropped off the Honda. after waiting an hour or two while the Honda was being prepped, I took it for a test drive. The ride and driving experience was far superior to the Toyota!! The acceleration was quick and smooth! The tech upgrades that came with the Sport Touring model made it a no-brainer! The Bose sound system, all digital display, blind spot monitoring are just a few of the upgrades that factored in my decision. The used car market made the trade-in value of the Toyota $3,000 less my original purchase a few years ago. It was paid off also! Finally, after the Honda Dealer eventually folded on the special “market value” surcharges of $5,000 there was no way I could say no and purchased the vehicle at the MSRP of $31,000. The Acura Integra, is a vehicle I was considering but it finally came down to the old axiom of “A bird in the hand ✋ is worth two in the bush!” I’m very happy 😃!

I don't think people really "need" a sub 6-sec 0-60 car. Of course, there is also more to life than being as pragmatic as possible. Some want to enjoy the driving experience - which means different things to different people. Some people like to feel pampered in a plush interior, even though one could hardly call that a "need". Some people like driving big a** trucks, even if they have no practical use for one. Some people buy $65k Teslas to "save money". And some people like to go fast, quickly. 🙂

'22 civic sport touring here. Man if I would've seen this car up close I may have just went right away with it... The integra looks great. What turned me off so much from the Si was the fact that you HAD to go less premium on your interior features in order to gain the extra power. I like that the integra gives a no frills, everything inclusive package that gives you the nice punch in that 4 cyl AND all of the great seat, HUD, and interior design that the higher trims offer. I feel like if I'm going to pay for more power, I might as well get all the luxuries as icing on the cake. Nice comeback for the Integra, and great review.

It’s not actually our fault. Wages have not kept up with the inflation in the car market over the past 20 years. That means younger full time entry level workforce employees cannot afford new cars anymore, only people who can afford new cars are the older folks who prioritize safety, comfort, efficiency, and road visibility over performance and sleek designs. Crossovers are the perfect fit for what they’re looking for and as a result sales of sedans and coupes have fallen, when auto manufacturers look at their new car sales data they see crossovers are what’s selling, future R&D will go into making more crossovers rather than wasting money on sedans and coupes.

Being a former owner of a 98 Integra Type R, this is a huge let down. I feel they only brought back the name only to bring the nostalgia back to Acura. Yes, there was an Integra sedan, and a “lift back/hatchback” coupe, but this whole new body style seems like they couldn’t make up their mind. Of course the prior Integra generations were built on Civic platforms, but the exterior was so vastly different, that you could not mistake a Civic for an Integra. Engine wise, the 99-00 Civic Si had the B16A2, while in the Acura line, the GSR and ITR both had more power even further differentiating them. If Acura is smart, they will have a Type S with much more power or even bring back the Integra Type R badge, though that would most likely never happen.

not to mention the GR corolla. but this is more of a "i'm in my mid 30s and i want an affordable premium vehicle with a touch of performance" not a "i want a rice rocket" kind of car. speaking of which, a premium car that doesn't have ac vents for the back seats, which would be important for those with kids in the back :\

@@peanuts.13 most 30s and upwards want point A to point B by that point as they try to settle down. I know some of you will say other things. Myself im in my 30s and current own a corolla LE with the matrix, not so appealing vehicles but get the job done which is all I care about at this point.

That’s Civic competition. This is A3 CLA competitor. Wait for the Type S and I bet the Integra drives more polished than Jetta or Elantra

@@rahimi4762 yes, hopefully an S version with a 2.0... Still think the Jetta GLI and so easy to tune is better than this for even a little less money, it just isn't quite as luxurious. The base Audi A3/Mercedes comparison is quite fair, you're right there, I guess in just too enthusiast oriented, hehe.

I don’t think it’s ever gonna grow on me. I just don’t like it. It’s just a civic with a little bit of ILX. Kind of a letdown in my eyes. Maybe if they come out with a all-wheel-drive turbo Type R I’ll smile.

The integra was always just a civic, with a little luxury added. Anybody let down by this vehicle just don't understand that fact. There may be a type s in the future..

Great review Joe. I love your reviews and presentation. The interior looks too much like the Civic. I'd rather get a Forte GT. I still get 200 hp and a seven speed dual clutch. With this I would have to get a CVT if I wanted automatic. If the interior looked great I would get this but Forte GT makes way more sense than the Integra plus I get a nice Harmon Kardon stereo with the Forte.

Advice to nieces and nephews: unless you can’t drive a manual, avoid the CVT at all costs. Also, I like the Acura more than the Civic Si cos the Acura is more practical.

Agreed. I do like my civic but the cvt just takes all of the fun out of what could be.

Is the CVT genuinely bad or do people just like to hate on it? Serious question

@@jameshumphrey3425 having lived with one for 3 years I can say it’s not terrible for everyday driving but most of the time it’s very sluggish and unresponsive and it also bucks a lot of lower speeds so it’s definitely not the best.

You're very good man both of you. Raiti's Rides has quickly become my go-to channel for car reviews. Doug Demuro is probably jealous now. lol Hoping to see a 2023 preview video of the Kia K5 soon. And I want to see more EV previews as well. Thanks.
