The Big Picture: Education & Aspiring India Allocation in education in the budget. Issues: By 2030 India will have the highest working age population. Needs of the system in both higher and school education has not been met. School education - RTE act not extended from 3 to 18 years. Only 12% schools are RTE compliant. NITI Aayog report- attempt to try and underplay the inputs. overlooking outcomes. Short of teachers. Justice Verma report- large number of teacher education is privatised and it is substandard. Gap between knowledge and skill. The commercialisation of higher education. Online education- is like selling degrees. Highly degree dominated education sector. FDI in education --> attract finances in the sector. Majority of budget is for school education and of it majority is for Sarva shiksha Abhiyan. Biggest challenge- Primary education. learning and innovation indices low. School infrastructure does not capitalise on innovation. Skill courses are designed by industrialists and not educationists. Dividing wall between Academic and practitioner. Way forward: Good teacher education Peer learning RTE should be complied with and successful implementation. Secondary education linked with life skills. Vocational education has to be brought to the mainstream. Quality of higher education - imrove. Online education-selective Indian universities with foreign collaboration. Work based learning. Reforming AICTE and UGC.

I’ve done my MBA from Nirma uni, and the course is so diverse and well developed. When i meet people from normie unis’ i can clearly differentiate myself from others. All their college life they haven’t attended more than 20-30% of classes, no news paper reading, no out of the box thinking, copy paste assignments, writing assignments. Overall i think structural reforms are required than just mugging up things but relating whatever you study to practise. Over that colleges have to be stricter, more engaging, dynamic teaching, more case study based approach than theoretical mugging up. Our college had 30 minutes compulsory news paper reading session for 30 minutes everyday, which inculcated news paper reading and enhances your critical thinking and analysis skills.

"....exams continue to be meaningless...copy-paste medium...." -Anita Rampal🥺 I'm pursuing BCOM, now it seems the entire concept of education in this culture is hollow.😦 I resolve to assume full control of my own education. From now on 🧐no relying traditional and popular definition of education. 💪

As panelist expressed that we need to develop skillful attitudes in our colleges as well as school education from the Secondary level as vocational training which is required to fulfill our whole gamut of the Education in real sense. The extracurricular activities must also have done within the boundary of the educational institution so that our students can be able to think out of boxes and be able to perform in all fields of the excellence abroad India and the World ... Also it is the need of our that we must enhance and provide incentives about research and Development for New India and for better tomorrow...!!!

I completely disagree with Anita Rampal. College campus degree has no substitute but online degree has its own importance. If the standard of examination is not compromised it will help a lot of people who cannot afford. But the main concern is admission process. It must be of a decent standard. It shouldn't be like that anyone just enrolled and can take courses just for auditing. Level must be maintained.

The very first argument makes a lot of sense. Learning isn't just one on one. You learn from discussions and questioning. Online learning should be done to further polish your knowledge and skills. Basic education up to UG should be classroom based.

Thanks rstv, we must change our education policy from just degree oriented courses to job oriented courses. And we can only do this change when there are highly qualified and experienced leaders in the concerned ministries. First the makers of the law must have specialised skills and knowledge in the field concerned only then these changes can be imparted in India and anywhere in the world.

five years ago school in my village was being upgraded to higher secondary.. we had the choice to opt for Arts, Commerce or Science streams... i requested the Headmaster as well as village elders that we must get science stream as Arts is available just 4 km from our village.. but little serious was done in this regard...and we have Arts stream in more than 70% schools of the districts.. but only a few have science...and fewer have faculties and proper infrastructure.. Despite the fact that on per capita my village probably would complete with some of the developed regions.. yet efforts for development are rare... I wanted to study science... but only after completing my 12th i was told that to become a Doctor, you must have science in high school..

I bet Mrs Rampal has never heard about online education Platform like MIT OCW and Khan academy. Otherwise she would have made some intelligent comments. I am doing my MS in Mechtronics and when I don't understand anything in class I take help of these resources + youtube tutorials and they very helpful. I think GOI needs to invest in online education platforms like NPTEL. They need to gamify education to make it more appealing and interesting like Kerbal Space Program.

Online courses are need of the hour for India , Mrs Rampal is wrong to say online courses are means to distribute degrees , many people from rural background can't afford to join regular collage in cities dues to Agri or small business in hometown . By improving quality n strict course and curriculum and online test and classes with less frequent physical presence can be a boom to rural background children. Second solution, quality teachers are already there in govt school as top teacher qualify for govt jobs , need of the hour is to change the mindset of ppl towards govt school and freeing govt teacher from extra adminstration work like election duty , census duty , random govt exam duty and devoting govt teachers time towards teaching. Third solution , as discussed vocational training is a solution , govt schools already have vocational teachers like homesciience , music ,carer guide etc but private schools emphasis on route learning n memorizing which hamper inovation and confidence of children if they don't get good grades.

Education budget - 99,300 crore, skill development budget - Rs 3000 crore , FM -- 150 higher educational institutions will start apprenticeship imbedded courses. Urban local bodies will run apprentice ship programmes of up to 1 year for fresh engineers . ECBs and FDIs would be routed for infrastructure development . Top 100 institutions would start online degree level courses dor the deprived sections of students. Online education only should be selected . Majority of the education budget is reserved for school education. Govt doesn't have much funds to fund the higher education. Biggest concerns are of primary education --- Only 9-10 % of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan -- innovative learning More innovative learnings should be promoted , and innovation ecosystem should be encouraged . Then we can commercialise and provide skill development and allow FDIs and ECBs . Large no unemployable graduates issue -- Education system and curriculums should be revolutionised then separate skill development and vocational training would not be needed. Learning and work should be together with the beginning of education and then at higher education level it should be specialised , now skill development programmes are designed by industries and not by educationals which create a huge gap. We need structural reforms ---- Work based practical learning is more important than theoretical level . Should be started with primary and then intensified at higher level. Skill development and polytechnics are still second class it should be main streamed . Positive step -- Universities are to take skill development programmes. In India there is divide between academicians and technicians which is not in the case of foreign countries. It should be reformed . Teachers training and curriculum changing is important. Teachers resist the change in curriculums so they must be trained with new teachings. We are a highly degree dominated education which doesn't offer much employment opportunities . First to understand the requirements of indian economy to conduct and start skill and vocational programmes .. like for example infrastructure development , automobile sector , highway project sector , earthquake resistant buildings sector. .

At the end of the day , We have many many Committees . Many many reports with many many recommendations . Big Big government/ politicians " BOLI" And ofcourse debates on RsTv. But issues are 1 . Who will take the responsibility ? 2. Where actual issues lies? 3. How people are kept in dark to make the whole system inaccessible and opaque? 4. What the solution is with the " common Public"? 5. As per the Economic Survey 2020 - 21 higher education is almost fully inaccessible for marginalised and lower middle classes aspirants, why ? Ok thanks

Since immemorial the Indian education system has been the country 's envy ,one of the sides of the story that highest no .of academics related suicides happen in this country ,there is need to educate parents are the one who forced their children to choose the career which they don't even like as a result student do not excel upon failing the expectations of their parents ,suffer from the no.of health issues .. Giving the teachers periodic training will not just ensure that they are updated with changing times ,but will also improve the entire education scene of the contents by leaps and bounds .. SUBSIDING PROFESSIONAL courses will ensure that same is within the reach of deserving students from lower -middle class strata of the Indian society One of the concern I personally wanted to delineate is rural education ,our focus majorily on urban clusters need to concern and taking both collaboratiovely....

Education system is the biggest problem in our country & has been long neglected. we can discuss many things, can show many solutions but when it comes to implementation part,we are nowhere in the world. R & D in higher degree education is also lagging & a lot needs to be done.Therfore,we need some urgent structural changes in our education system if we really want to become a $5 trillion economy in the world.

It is shame for so much less on education and health to the deprived village label. No spending for appointment of teachers. No fines to improve college universities infrasyructure NBA and upa are same as far as spending on salary on good teachers. Online is a farce just a face saving effort.central government is always thrifty as far as spending on higher education is concerned.sometimes I suspect central government is doing jumla in spilling university education. Everytime we listen goverents had no funds to spend on education and health but oen funds in purchasing aeroplane building new parliament or building statues. Where are we living. Whom we have send to parliament. All are same.
