India is a vibrant democracy with people electing their representatives at several levels begining from local bodies and panchayats to the the Parliament. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has termed Indian experience with democracy as a remarkable success story.
However he also pointed out two distortions which need to be addressed urgently and those are use of enormous money power in politics and elections and the increasing attempts to entice the voters with short term benefits at the cost of long term goals of basic amenities , infrastructure , quality education , healthcare , growth and job opportunities etc .
So what all has been done to tackle these two issues and what more needs to be done in future .
Guests - S K Mendiratta, Former Advisor, Election Commission,
Ashok Tandon, Senior Journalist,
Sanjay Kumar, Director, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies,
Anchor - Vishal Dahiya

I appreciate vishal as good anchor but out of 24 minutes he only takes almost 7-8 minutes to ask a genuine questions from his fellow panelists..So i think Mr. Frank is always better than him & i request Rs tv to please not only bring Frank sir back but also let him continue onwards without a hault in it.🙏

I feel that Mr. Dahiya is a good anchor of Security Scan. He's perhaps better in anchoring that programme than Mr. Pereira. Maybe because Mr. Dahiya has greater interest/exposure in conducting a good discussion on defense. But as far as socio-political issues or policy issues are concerned (which are mostly the topics of The Big Picture), I feel, Mr. Dahiya certainly has limitations of domain knowledge and perhaps lacks a little bit of empathy with these subjects. Sometimes he come across as over-choreographed and abrupt. For example, the way Mr. Narayan got interrupted during his opening remarks shows that either Mr. Dahiya did not pay attention to the flow of the debate or perhaps he's too conservative with the format of his programme. This is in contrast with the smoothness and eloquence with which FRK shows us The Big Picture, even with not-so-interesting topics. My point, perhaps Mr. Dahiya needs more exposure and the expertise to connect with socio-political and economic issues and frankly, he should be a little relaxed, and not be getting too strict regarding his prepared format. PS: Mr. Dahiya was one of my favourite parliamentary correspondent.

The bic picture runs for approx-30 minutes, in this 30 minutes every otherer panelists should get some time to express his/her and for this simple logic Anchor whoever it may be , are obliged to follow thier rules and disciplines.hence what Vishal has done was absolutely correct and we all need to understand this .
@helloayushkumar
@helloayushkumar 4 жыл бұрын
@@shreyareddynalla6143 True. But the abruptness was stark and visible. The panelists are quite distinguished and erudite people. I don't think they need to be disciplined. There are of course better ways and means. Moreover, not just in this episode, but the pre-formatted prepared questions which are sometimes incongruous with the flow of the debate are quite noticeable in the anchoring of Mr. Dahiya. With 4 million viewers watching this programme, I humbly wish that my feedback improve the endeavour.

@@hot.u4662Thank you Devesh. English is not the subject of my Graduation. I have learnt the fundamentals of the language from my Grandpa. So I'm quite old school in my approach (i.e. learning vocab directly from dictionary and regular practice of writing). Plus reading books and newspapers really helped. Funny story, my Grandpa says speak in english, think in english, dream in english, eat in english. :D I still couldn't decode much of it. :P But you get my point. The trick is to keep it short and simple. All the best :)

It's a shame that some FRP's fanboys are venting their anger out at Vishal because they haven't seen him for few days. Everyone has unique style of hosting and Vishal's style is different as well. With time limitations and dueto more number of guests he wasn't able to divulge into multiple aspects of the topic. So give him a break.

Dr JP Narayan being cut short and Mr Tandon being value added,while the former was precise/to the point and ther latter was an exaggeration of pseudo way forward,Mr Vishal:you did made a huge guilt of injustice to both the program and ordinary UPSC aspirants like me. Thank you

The program is not created primarily for UPSC aspirants. If you have 4 guests on the show then it's very natural to cut short one individual who has spoken enough and move on to the next guest who is yet to speak.

The democracy given to Indian people in 1947.The illiterate people of India stood with it.Moreover, we entered in 21st century there is dire need of changing the pattern of electoral politics.There should be minimum benchmark in terms of percentage of vote needed for a candidate to be called as elected representatives.it's time to done away with first past the post system

Political interference is the prominent reason for ineffective bureaucracy in India. They influence in each and every of decision making whether it being Police, Judiciary, Media or Municipality. Until and unless we limit the Power of Politicians we will suffer from corruption and impotent system.

Remove ceiling of the expenditure. Make a time frame for expenditure and give proper accounts of expenditure and disclose it before 7 days of election so that everyone understands that he will do corruption to take out his money. This will automatically reduce the expenditure

I think that the timing of debate is decided by central government. Especially when Delhi is going for elections and BJP desperately wants to win the national capital elections. So why not to target AAP when opinion polls are showing the mood of the people in Delhi. Why to use only AAP's name, why not the BJP, Congress etc who have recently contested elections in Jharkhand, Maharashtra??
