Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Raakhee Gulzar, Mamta Kulkarni, Kajol, and Amrish Puri starrer Karan Arjun was released in 1995. The film will be re-released in theatres worldwide, and before its release, director Rakesh Roshan speaks with Bollywood Bubble. In the interview, Rakesh shares how he came up with the idea of re-releasing the film. He also discusses how the casting happened, explaining how the film was also initially offered to Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, but eventually Shah Rukh and Salman became the final cast.
Rakesh mentions that the re-release would also help understand whether the new generation will enjoy such films or not. He emphasises that the emotions of the new generation are different. Talking about the film's shooting, Rakesh recalls how when Raakhee said, "Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge," he felt confident that the film would be loved by the audience. Rakesh also reveals that the original title of the film was Kainaat.
The new trailer of the film is narrated by Hrithik Roshan, who had worked as an assistant director on Karan Arjun. Rakesh describes this full circle as a stroke of luck for the film. He also shares that it was Hrithik who reminded him about the film's re-release. Rakesh further said that if Karan Arjun were to be made today, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor would be the perfect cast. However, he firmly states that no one could ever replace Amrish Puri's role.
In his conversation with Avinash Pal, Rakesh Roshan also shares some memorable moments from the film and gives an update on Krrish 4.
