Rakuen (the game I have been developing for the past four years) is FINALLY OUT ON STEAM ^___^ To celebrate, I wanted to release a very special song, that's gotten me through some difficult times. I actually wanted to release this video on Rakuen's launch day, but I was just too swamped the night before (and basically all week since then) so I didn't get the chance to finish recording the video until today. It's been a crazy, sleep-deprived, exciting, nerve-wracking, wonderful week ^___^;
You might recognize some of this song from the Rakuen trailer! This is the full version of the song, called "Searching my Life." It's not actually in the game, which is why it's not on the soundtrack... But since playing/singing it gave me a lot of comfort and direction, I used it in both game trailers; so I thought it only fitting to release the full version once I finally finished the game. It's very special to me :) I recommend listening with headphones or good quality speakers. (Given what happened with the last trailer, I thought I should also mention: there is some low-fi EQ on some of the vocals, but don't worry, it's intentional this time LOL :)
Anyways, I really hope you enjoy it! And if you get the chance, I'd be honored if you played Rakuen~!

I just wanted to say, I didn't want to buy rakuen at first. It seemed a bit amateur, to use a harsh word. But, I bought it, because hey, not fair to judge a book by its cover, and let me tell you, it blew me away. The music, the writing, and even the voice work blend together seamlessly. In a time when games are starting to depend less and less on story, this title brought back a spark I hadn't felt since I played twilight princess in 2007, when I was eight. If you're somebody who appreciates a good story, and not even necessarily a good game, buy this game. If you're somebody who appreciates good music, and loves Laura's artistic style, buy this game. This game is simple. This game is not advanced or highly technical and complicated. What this game Is, is beautiful. Characters are simple but complex, the game is incredible cheerful and even feel-good to a point, with darker and more meaningful themes coursing in the background. I could go on even more, but there's nothing else to say except, buy this game. Even if it's just to say you tried it. Do it. I'm glad I did.

I know I'm kind of late to the Star Night party, but . . . Laura, I want to thank you so much for creating Rakuen. I encountered your beautiful singing voice back in 2013 with Slamacow's Minecraft animation for your song "From the Ground Up," and yes at some point I ran into "Cube Land," and later got earwormed by a friend with "There's A Zombie On Your Lawn," but I didn't really pay attention outside of liking FtGU until Slamacow's "Bart the Enderman ft. Leeble" animation. At that point I ended up listening to this song in 2017, and it stuck with me even though I didn't look up Rakuen. Then I ran across the song again near the end of 2018 and, as a new-fledged streamer, was suddenly interested in trying out Rakuen. And it turned out to be one of the two best gaming experiences in my life so far. Undertale and Rakuen. Those two games are the only games that have reached out and grabbed my emotions with intense power, leaving me crying at multiple points throughout Rakuen. Gemma and Winston, Tony and Christine, Sue and Puchi, Kisaburo and Kazuko, Yami and Mom...each story left me in a flood of tears. Mori no Kokoro, and especially Kisaburo's and Mom's parts of MnK, has become one of my most-listened-to tracks lately along with, incidentally, your performance of "Don't Forget" in deltarune Chapter 1. I guess I'm rambling a bit with this, so I'll try to get back on topic...I've struggled with depression for a few years now, and just before I played Rakuen I'd hit a point in life where I didn't feel like I was doing anything good in the lives of those around me. But playing through Rakuen gave me an odd sense of hope and determination, by reminding me that compassion works miracles in a world that can so often seem dark, scary, and hopeless, and that believing that you are strong enough to help can often be the spark that helps you really _be_ strong enough to help others. It's inspired me to take the world on again and do what I can to be kind and helpful to those around me, and to grab onto life once again. Thank you, Laura, for helping save me from a pretty dark place in my life. Arigato.

Aw your're welcome! I finished the game this morning and it left me speechless. Ive always been a sucker for story driven games like To The Moon and A Bird Story, but Rakuen has easily taken their place as my favorite. From beginning to end the game is just so genuine and heartfelt. The characters, the music, the artwork, everything about the game is just so easy to love (especially the relationship between the boy and his mom. their dialogue was just too cute throughout the story). You and your team did a fantastic job on Rakuen and made a game that just makes the magic and wonder of being a kid come alive again. Dear Ms. Shigihara, I honestly admire you as a person and also as an artist. You did not only compose excellent video game music, with Rakuen you even released your very own game!
