Because of lack of awareness. Being a farmer require effort and time and dedication. You have to keep a watch . Growing trees isn’t sufficient , we need to take care of them like infant babies and keep a regular watch . Apart from these we need camera installations and fighter dogs once the threes reach 10 years of age . All these included will give an excellent output provided you have sustained dedication to grow the crop for 15 years

True. Unfirtunately, i'm a full-time software engineer in a senior role. My farm is 6KM away from where I live now. But my office location 500KM away from here. I know that I can install camera and other sensors to detect intrusion. There are always ways to circumvent the camera security. May be if you have lot of acres and have many staff to look after and guard the farm, you may grow anything. I just said it's difficult for people like me with just couple of acres in remote location.

Just the right approach makes such a significant difference in farmers livelihood. When we stay with ancestral wisdom and their heritage, we do not lose as much as we do when we step away. The biggest thing we lose is peace. I often asked my parents why they never kept the ancestral small farm/ horticulture land they owned. Everybody just wanted to move to the city for a fast life once and now people want to return.

I was raised in a farm but now living in a city. I always loved farming. I had always wondered why people do not plant sandlewood trees. It is so expensive to buy sandlewood.

It was actually illegal to grow sandalwood in Karnataka until 2002. even now to sell sandalwood from your own field we need approval from government (Probably forest department). No one wants to deal with these corrupt officials hence teak is popular.

In recent road widening,some of trees aged around 18 years in my friend's land has been removed and cut to found just 10 % of heart wood, selling is also a cumbersome process involves a tough forest department clearance , in the end we have to sell to middlemen at much lower price

this is where the culture+education+technology has been merged and adopted in a manner where this person is doing excellent job by with their knowledge, rather than following the old tradition of ancestors. such an inspiration to many, who face the restrictions from the stereotypical families, without hurting the beliefs at the same time achieving the goals.

I am a farmer, I got 20 acres farm which I have grown myself. I know bit more reality than this video's claims. So many have grown Sandal wood and cut them down to plant traditional cash crops. Sandalwood take unusually long time. I had 10 plants and I cut them after 15 years. Well grown one was about 4 inch diameter. It may take 30 more years to develop heartwood - may be! Agarwood came and not single farmer got a rupee; now it is used like firewood. The people who sell the plants (nursery people) like Kavita Mishra made money, who sell services (irrigation, fertilizer, pesticides) have made money. However, not farmers. If there is so much money, corporates would have gotten into farming; they do due-dilligence before investing. Drone Pratap is not the only con in the world. Every alternate month, we will have someone coming to our farms - selling these great opportunities or some great products. Now I dont argue with them, I claim ignorance and send them back.

One more suggestion from the safety viewpoint.... Please keep some 15 to 20 large-sized ducks near the boundary in the cages or let them roam free... in case any thief or trespasser enters, they make a lot of noise and wake up the sleeping dogs and guards. Many people use these tactics as the ducks always remain watchful. Plus, keeping some free-roaming guineafowls on the farm will rid you of snakes. Wish you best of luck !!
