I spent the rest of the movie thinking about how stupid it would be to make Arthur literally king of a culture he knew nothing about and then disappointed in Mera because she would make a better ruler but she seems consigned to marry whoever ends up as king. Then I realized how terrible all the female characters are because they both just do what the men around them want, then thought about the reasons it's not actually anything like Thor or Black Panther because those plots make sense and have good characters and then... This movie is just kind of stupid a lot I guess. I actually liked the visuals most of the time though. City under the sea is shiny.

It isn't just the CGI that makes the fights look fake; it's the weird physics and wire work. Like, Aquaman would hit somebody with his trident, and he'd get knocked back faster than the trident was going. Also, Aquaman could just produce thrust in the water without moving, which doesn't make any sense. Someone who saw the movie with me joked that he was farting to produce that thrust, which makes about as much sense as any other explanation.
