Quick video on replacing the driver's side blend door actuator. If your heat is cold on the driver's side but hot on the passenger's side, this might be your problem!

This also fixes the entire air conditioning vs heat for both sides on my 2010 ram 1500! I've been just dealing with this thing flip flopping back and forth on its own because of another video that said its way behind the dash and you have to remove the entire dash, then I found this video! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Thanks for the video. Mine was not calibrated properly and kept making noise. Watched your video and installed the new one with heat on and tab up. No more noise of blend door trying to reset itself. I saved $10 by buying my Dorman off Amazon.

There is more than one blend door actuator this is just the easiest to get to.

Based on the heater knobs you have a single zone system so it should only have one blend door

Exact same issue, heat on passenger side and cold on drivers side. Actuator responds to changes and blend door moves by hand when the actuator is removed. Going to be working on it this weekend and thinking it's an issue with a partially clogged heater core.

Can confirm, was a plugged heater core. Replaced it and heat works great.

How long did it take you to replace the heater core?

@@LarryReynolds591 Without the smoke breaks I'd estimate roughly 5 hours. I was also taking my time on it, wasn't really in a rush. Hardest part was getting the plenum box back in due to having the rear vents in the cab. People make it sound a lot worse than it is. Also did the cabin air filter mod while the box was out which was probably another 15 minutes.

This is my issue, actuator is moving and it appears the door is moving but couldn’t confirm for sure if the door inside was moving. Even though the actuator is moving is it possible the door just isn’t or do you think 🤔 it’s Ray heater core as yours was. I have heat on the passenger side but cold air on the drivers side

@@josh-e3j recommend disconnecting the actuator and moving the door by hand. You'll hear a noise when you go either full position up or down. Just don't do it too hard obviously. Also, as per the video. Make sure to start with your temperature all the way on hot or cold as it's easier to remember the position of the door and actuator.

My blend door opens slow and when I turn on the ac. It takes about 10secs for the air to come out of the vent but I can hear it when I turn on the ac. Do you know what could be causing it to do that? Thank you!

Thanks for the video. My truck 2013 5.7 hemi is running at 190 degrees all the time. When i'm on highway it's on 188... sometimes it will go to 194 at idle. Hows the temps on your truck? I thought it was the thermostat stuck open - but I will check this first.

I’m not sure about later years, but anyone who owns the 2009 and most likely up to think about cutting in for a cabin air filter. My truck was out in the oil fields in Texas before purchasing and the entire vent system and truck is covered in clay dust to change out the filter. Well, the factory did not install one and you need to cut out the plastic in order to make it fit and purchase the small. Cover plate.

I have a 2014 RAM Laramie.. auto climate control. I can only get the air to blow out on the floor. I read about actuators.. I changed both actuators behind the center stack ... The air worked correctly ONCE as soon as I changed them. An hour later I turn on the truck and I'm back to air only coming out the floor vents... Nothing will change it.. I opened the dash up again with the truck running cycling through climate control settings from floor to dash to defrost.. nothing happens. I also pulled the lower glove box out can easily remove that actuator hold it in my hand.. I cycle through climate control hot cold left right the actuator is not working at all.. Anyone have any thoughts?

Likely the outside of your heater core is covered in dirt and dust. If you have the automatic hvac, it might be the blend door in this video

I believe they are all the same part. Not sure what you mean by driver's side.

They are not the same. There is actually 2 or 3 different ones. Your best bet is to Uninstall and check your autoparts store. This will not actually work in all cases either.

I’m having the same issue with my 02. I took the glove box out removed all the screws to get in behind there. My actuator is working fine it does move up and down while selecting from hot to cold but no change in the air temperature on the drivers side still Is it possible the actuator is moving like it’s suppose to but the door inside is stuck?

I think he may be mistaken. I believe this is for the passenger side heat.

Might be different on a 3rd gen (your truck) or 2nd gen (if your truck is a 2500 or 3500). Very likely your heater core's fins are plugged and you'll simply have to remove it and replace.

@@LarryReynolds591 could be. Ours is 2012 RAM 1500 without dual climate controls. But same issue. Cold on drivers side. Pass side is good.

Very likely. Could also be your evaporator if youve been using your AC

That actuator is between the duct and firewall... duct needs to come out.. find the left actuator right behind the glove box and draw a straight line to the firewall..that's where it is

Yeah, the whole left side. Mine ended up being a seriously messed up heater core. Get the Geno's Garage cabin air filter setup if you don't have one yet. Just put in a new heater core a couple months ago.

its behind the heater control center. Once you remove the center panel you will see 2 actuators. I believe its the one on the left.

That’s the actuator for the hot and cold knob not the driver side. The driver side you have to take the dash apart
