Let me just say thank you for posting this video. It gave me the confidence to tackle this project. I just finished didn't quite get the time you got lol it took about 5 hours for me. I did take the heat shield down and let me tell you that front driver side mount by the gas tank had me pretty frustrated lol I work through it and got it I was a bit concerned I was going to break the bolts... Luckily everything went great The holes drilled fine with 3 5/8 hole saw... And we are ready to pick up our new fifth wheel. Thanks again We really appreciate it. FYI our dealership in Michigan wanted $1,640 bucks to install this... I did it with a little bit of backache and six beers lol

@@bccampingadventures I'm glad I stumbled across your channel when searching about installing 'pucks' into our new RAM. I just now came back to your channel after seeing a notification about your response to my comment. @@bccampingadventures did you have to wire in a pigtail in the bed? I got my part from etrailer and am wiring it in tomorrow, got the pucks installed this afternoon, not too bad of a job. Luckily my son has a shop with 2 lifts so it was nice to raise and lower the truck as needed.
@bccampingadventuresАй бұрын
@@CruizinWithTheCarsons If you would like to make the seven pin connection from in the bed yes you need to add a harness to T into your existing trailer harness at the rear bumper. You can always run it over the tailgate and plug into the back. I opted to add a connection in the bed.

Great video, one thing I learned the hard way a long time ago using hole saws after breaking many holesaw pilot 1/4" drill bits which are not cheep. I just bought four 1/4" by 3" long HARDEN bolts, cut the heads off and after drilling the 1/4" pilot hole. I use my hole saws with the HARDEN 1/4" bolts with the heads cut off installed where the 1/4" drill should go. 1/4" HARDEN bolts do not snap like 1/4" drill bits do in hole saws and make for a better cut.

What a Great video, but I found it a day late. I just traded a RAM 3500 with the puck system for a new RAM 2500 without the puck system because I could not find one with the Pucks. I just had a new 5th wheel hitch with rails installed today. I have a great Curt hitch in my shop with the RAM puck system. this is the story of my life a day late and a dollar short. I never used my diesel dually for anything except towing my 5er. so I traded it for the 6.4 2500. the ride is unbelievable compared to the dually. I may push my weight limits but I dont tow that much or very far. Enjoy your new Dually but I went the other way.

Your video really helped. I just installed this system. I did like you and drilled pilot holes from the bottom to make sure the holes were perfectly centered. Two holes on each side of the rear pucks. One on the front puck like you. Need a long drill bit extension for this. Also, make sure the drill is on the fast setting. Thanks again for the video.

@@childofthestud yeah I had to remove the bed. Maybe it’s different for the 3500’s or being a 2021. But the bed needed to be unbolted and lifted a few inches to get it in.

@@bbbbarron2 Yes sorry I didn't realize you had 3500. The mounts are entirely different and you just don't get the space with the way the frame weldements are built.

I see you mentioned 2014+ but let me ask you would you know why or what’s the reason as to why wouldn’t work for a 2012 for instance? I have a 2012 with a gooseneck ball but I was wondering if I could install the ram factory puck system and if I couldn’t I wanted to know why so I know. Thank you sir
@bccampingadventures8 ай бұрын
I believe 2014 was the first year for the rear coil suspension. Both the 2500 and 3500 went through rear frame changes that would affect fitment. Newer 3500s had the puck brackets welded to the frame so it would take serious fabrication to try using 3500 parts (still leaf spring) on older leaf spring 2500. It's a little conflicting so I can't say for sure if Ram had factory pucks on a leaf spring 2500 ever.
@jonathanhnunez8 ай бұрын
@@bccampingadventures thank you for your reply, I should’ve stated that I have a 2012 3500 dually mega cab. I’m looking to start hauling stuff but mine doesn’t have anything other than just the ball for gooseneck, I was set on the puck system since I don’t trust those rail tracks aftermarket stuff for what I wanted to use the truck.
@bccampingadventures8 ай бұрын
@@jonathanhnunez I think the same applies. 2013 or 2014 was the first year for the Ram puck system. So I'm afraid trucks before this have to look at after market. If you want a secure attachment could look at BW flip over ball and BW companion to go with it otherwise there's several frame mounted rail systems.

The ram gooseneck pucks and fifth wheel pucks are different kits. Both can be purchased and installed together, so the truck is ready for either hitch option. We didn't need a gooseneck hitch, so we chose not to order that kit.
