You upgraded the RAM but now it only runs at 2133MHz. The default spec runs at 3200MHz. So you are actually losing performance. How do you change your clock speed?

If you can return that ram and get a kit that has DOCP. It will auto-overclock to said speed. Your machines BIOS doesn't seem to have XMP so you are stuck running at 2133mhz and that will hurt performance big time. I had to get that ram for my laptop. It's the same price and corsair makes it. Just make sure it says DOCP on it.

RAM said Kingston on the label, so, erm, Kingston, it was Kingston, using MT chips, the bane of the retro computer (cos MT RAM such as used in a Commodore 64 from ye olde tymes tends to short out and die!)... :P

Exactly the upgrade im doing on mine, but i ran into a little issue where its only recognizing half of my ram. Its only pulling from one of my sticks. Any idea what i might need to do to fix that?

either dead ram or the ram is not seated correctly. Try going into the BIOS and see if it shows which channel is hot. Then shut the system down and swap the sticks around and go back into BIOS and see if the non working channel shows hot. If it does then bad ram. If it doesn't then bad mobo and you might have to return to vendor to get it fixed or replaced.

@Skivinz thanks for getting back to me! It took a bit of work and switching things around, but I finally got the ram working. For whatever reason the sticks I got only wanted to work in one slot over the other

Is there a difference between the nvme slot that you installed and the slot that is preinstalled? I just bought an ssd and i am gonna upgrade my nitro and i am curious if the empty slot is somehow slower?

nope. The primary and secondary slot are both PCIE 4 compliant. The one for the WIFI is only a 1X because you only need 1 lane to run a wifi/BT

i noticed your ram isnt running at the full 3200mhz and i was about to tell u to make sure you enable xmp in the bios but i checked and this computer isnt xmp compatible but thats still a good upgrade either way.

@Skivinz is DDR4 3200 the correct ram to run on this system? what was the speed of what was in? just i noticed someone reply saying they noticed you not getting full 3200mzh from this so is there a more suitable speed ram for this system & does having 3200 in when it cant use all of the speed do any harm in terms of straining the system in anyway or slow it down at all or cause any other problems? all advice appreciated as looking to do a ram upgrade on mine but just trying to figure out whats correct & best

Stock ram was 2666mhz however it should be able to handle 3200mhz if it had xmp profiles. Acer doesn't support XMP natively so it auto downclocks to 2166mhz.

@@Skivinz this leaves me a bit puzzled as i've just got a acer nitro 50-60 & i'm unsure what it's got or what it's running at or is capable of running at, when i open task manager it has 8gb ram in it but it says speed 3200mhz, then when i run cpu-z on the mem tab page it shows dram frequency of 1596.1 but then on the spd tab it says ddr4 3200 (1600mhz) so this leaves me not knowing what speed ram it has in & what speed it's capable of running at if you could shed some light on this as i'm looking to buy some fresh ram & bump it up to it's full 32gb of ram but first of all need to know whats what, i did try the crucial website but for some reason that wouldn't scan my system, just kept showing a blank page as if the system is trying to hide something from the site

yes the second m.2 port on this thing is a PCIE-4 NVME capable port.

i actually recently upgraded my ram to 32gigs i always ran 16 and it was more than enough but some games now are using more ram especially star citizen which i havent been able to get into much yet its very complex to learn Hey btw man you should do a vid on your entire home gym setup for 2023 im curious what all you have im starting a little home gym myself just starting with the powerblock dumbbells and a rep 3000 adjustable bench for now but would like to get a barbell and squat rack

Did you have to mess with the bios to get the ram to work? I bought one of these for my son it was a lower model with the gtx 1650 in it. It can run some games decent but the games he wants to play with me he can't run at all... been thinking of upgrading his ram and dropping a new gpu in his pc. Just with these prebuilts and proprietary motherboard setups don't know which to go with. I asked about the bios cause I just bit a pc and I can only get 16gb to work the other stick won't work. And I didn't want to have the same issue with my son's pc

@@MrCabledawg45 you will have to research that particular motherboard and if it requires certain sizes of ram to be together like if they all need to be the same size for instance 4 sticks of 4gig and not mis matching sizes like 2 4gig and 2 2 gig sticks And if you aren’t populating all 4 slots most motherboards want the 2 sticks to be in specific slots The only bios setting I’ve had to make sure to enable is xmp if it’s an intel system,but I have an asus motherboard in the rig I built Hopefully that helps, I’m no expert but just some stuff that I remember off the top of my head from messing with my rig I’ll add though that most games only really need about 16gigs of ram Ram doesn’t make as much difference as people think so it could likely just be the cpu/gpu bottlenecking the performance on your sons computer

@@Javggoat the best thing I could tell you to do is google the specific model number of your computer and see if you can find the specs on ram capacity. I would imagine acer has some documentation that tells you how much ram you can have and what configuration If the motherboard can accept 32gb and if you currently have 2 8gig sticks I would say get 2 more 8gig sticks but yea hopefully that helps

BIOS doesn't support XMP profiles. Only way I could see to get more speed out of it is to get some JEDEC ram that is higher frequency.

My current laptop has an NVMe 500GB SSD thingy in it (my first time using one), an annoying purchase cos I ordered it direct from Crucial's website, and they decided to ship it direct from an Amazon warehouse, in Prague, in the Czech Republic, took 10 days to arrive, and in that time, had I went to Amazon directly, not only would I have had it in a couple days (not a prime user, bozos can bite me), but was £1 cheaper, FFS..........

To be fair the ram did go from 16gb to 32gb...sure the speed didn't increase due to the stock acer bios lacking xmp profiles however there is more memory to allocate before having to rely on swap file.
