The first canned fish I ever had came to me by accident. I was at a nice Mediterranean restaurant and I ordered some mackerel off the menu. The guy comes out and he gives me a plate with bread, hummus, olive oil, and a can of Ramón Peña horse mackerel. I was confused, and slightly grossed out by it, but I'd had a few beers at that point and I was pretty hungry, so I gave it a try. It was delicious! I was hooked from then on. On canned fish in general, and Ramón Peña stuff in specific.

Definitely going to try to garfish. I used to see them in the Great Lakes all the time, but maybe not the same fish. On the olive oil, if it's a good quality olive oil, I always add some hot sauce, herbs, and/or vinegar and finish up the oil with some sourdough bread. Almost as good as the fish.

I wanted some sardines so bad the other day. Made the mistake of getting them in water. Oh my gosh, they're fishy. I can't stand a fishy taste. I thought they'd be alright because they were from Poland. Don't eat any Asian sardines. But, no more water sardines, either. Good olive oil masks the fishiness. Oh well, anyway, I'm enjoying your show. Great and hilarious editing. Love you. 💋🎩🤔

On another note...now I gotta gotta gotta get my butt scratchers on some Ramon Pena's. I am bereft of their culinary fish charms. And those gar look fantastic. On still another note, that "racing stripe" is called a lateral line of which most fish have. It is very pronounced on fish such as snook as an example. the gar which we used to catch off southwest uk were a fun fish to catch. they were however green inside and coppery smelling. i forget how many bits were green from blood, flesh, bone, or all 3. for all their green and copperiness they were apparently good eating and realitively good bait. its something you catch during the heat of the day, so what are you going to do with it- throw it back- so i never actually ate one.

Howdy from Texas. Dude ! Alligator Gar nor the Long nosed Gar are not considered trash fish anymore. At least not here in Texas. I live on lake Livingston. The second biggest lake here in Texas. And this lake is fed by the Trinity river. The Trinity is considered the Meca for world class alligator Gar fishing in the world. But my real point is that Gar fish are some of the most delicious, bone free fish you have ever put into your mouth. Their meat is unique, just like they are. It's less like the texture of fish and more like the texture of lobster. And just as delicious !

What do you mean anymore? They were never considered a trash fish, it’s just clowns from out of state moving in, not knowing anything about anything and running their mouths right off the bat as most clueless people do, and saying incredibly stupid things to and around other poorly informed people like themselves. I’m from Louisiana, people have been eating the fish for centuries. This guy is example A of those people who have no clue what he’s talking about as he appears to barely even know what the fish is.
