Put a weather strip foam from lowes to cover it. I used it and it works really good...

Should be a simple switch on the dash. Criminals would think twice before backing this up to a garage.

Any idea if the beaper volume can be lowered?

I've heard of some people taking the dashboard apart, finding the speaker and removing it. This will stop the seatbelt chime, the parking assist beeping, the "key in" alert, and even the turn signal clicking sound. There may be a way to not completely remove it but solder in a resistor or a volume knob. That stuff is beyond my current knowledge.
