As someone that lost 150 pounds without using surgery ill say this. Do what you have to do to try and stay healthy, if surgery is your option then go for it!!!, no doubt its a positive move. The negative people that are trying to say that its the 'Easy way' think things are easier looking from the outside in. Recovery from a serious operation isn't easy, major life style changes, aren't easy, its worth it!. in time after the surgery, when you're all thin and fit!, you'll need surgery to remove access skin, worth it too. life too short to hold back on living more.

I had gastric sleeve surgery. It's only a tool and not a miracle cure. It's definitely not the easy way out. You can still eat whatever the hell you want, so you have to still stick to a healthy diet. All surgeries do is make you get full with less food. What that food is, is still up to you. You can still over eat and stretch your stomach out and be right back where you were. For me personally, surgery was just a kick in the ass to get me going down the right track. I lost around 110 lbs and I'm really happy where I am now.

I've been trying to work on KZbin for a while, some videos hit, some completely miss, but the hardest part is finding time to do the work that I want to do and the projects that I have in mind while juggling a full time job and a social life/marriage. I'm glad you're going to do what's best for you in the long run and I really hope the surgery works out for you and you do get to live longer than you ever dreamed. You're a great guy, I'm a big fan and have been watching for years. You love your fans and we love you!

It's very interesting that the "smaller" channels are considered 50k-150k these days. Which it's true in the grand scope of YT. When I started in 2010, 100k was the biggest channels and hitting 25k was a sure sign you've made it. Well, I'm sitting at 37k, have definitely seen the view/sub hits as of late, but that size isn't even up to the standard of "small channel" these days. I will hit that 50k one day soon, and can be included in that group of small channels! This is all a side-hobby for me, as it has been, but doesn't mean I'm any less passionate than anyone else. Just have less time. Good luck with everything Boog

Capp00 I have heard about the KZbin add issue much more now but yea it does suck for those who have small channel I've seen super tiny channels die off because of thse issues before they could become a big channel ice been on KZbin for 3 years and at 204 subs and enjoy it even though not getting any money yet it's nice to make others happy

It's just small portion of adds that they are pulling of. worst case scenario seems to be about 1 billion which is about 10% of total add revenue on youtube and with current grow rate it's just couple months and youtube is making more money than before this whole thing. I am not sure how they pick up channels that get hit by this but for example both of my channels are doing just fine. Nothing has changed on add revenue on last 30 days.

What is HPC rated, anyway? You say 'fuck' every now and then (I personally have 0 problems with that), but as Boogie said: He isn't affected as much since he is rated I think PG13. Can't imagine that your channel is rated 18+ or something. Another example is politics-oriented channels like Secular Talk. He made 400k view *in one day* and earned $1 through that. Regarding yours and newer channels: Your channel blew up really, really hard. I think you know this, but so much success doesn't come so often, *especially* considering that you don't have just a viral video, but your whole channel puts out videos almost in the range of PewDiePie regarding views. That's something to behold. Normally, people really have to grind and grind and grind and now, it needs *way more* views in order to sustain onself's life.

I'm so excited for your potential WLS. I had mine in November and it literally has been a game changer for me. It's definitely a hard process but my gosh it has been worth every single moment, and I've had ups and downs! It's definitely not been easy, and I'm glad that you touch on that... I do get some snotty responses from people regarding my surgery being "the easy way out" and it's been anything but. Learning to re-eat, learning how to cope differently, etc... but again, it's worth it. So proud of you for all that you've done already, and so excited for the changes you (most likely) have ahead with surgery.

boogie I am 27 has the full bypass surgery, not the band. 6 years ago. My thoughts, im glad things went well i had the will power and i lost 180lbs in 2 years but i eventually got lazy and as of now I've gained every pound back but not more than i started. is it worth it...ya just please stay motivated because your metabolism will absolutely slow back down in approximately 2 yrs. My biggest advice avoid soup broth on Your liquid diet the first 2 weeks post surgery. to this day the sight of a can makes me gag

Stay positive Boogie. I've always looked at it this way, corny as it sounds. Imagine you're in a field that stretches on, and on. Off in the distance you can see your goal, that thing you want more than anything, but it's very far off. Do you stand there, admiring it from afar, thinking it's too far to reach? Because if you do, it will always remain an out of reach dream. Or do you move towards it, even if progress is slow, even if sometimes you have to crawl inch by inch. Sure, you may not always get what you want, but it's important to try. Just standing still, doubting yourself, is the easiest way to make sure you never get anywhere in life.

Boogie I'm sure you have considered all the options at length, however I must put in my two cents. Please consider the gastric band instead of the bypass. My mother made that choice 10 years ago and it has worked wonders for her. She lost 200 pounds and the adjustable nature of the gastric band has played a huge part in her continued success. btw i love your content, especially these rambling series videos, your honesty has helped me a lot over the past two years.

Way to go! I was also over 300 lbs like you two years ago. Surgery wasn't an option for me (I have Crohn's Disease) but through a low-carb/keto style diet I've got down to 215. Many think that a gastric bypass is an easy way out... I am telling you now, it is not!.. EVERY thing changes. In the video, boogie says that there will be a lot of changes after the surgery.. he has no clue. The change is forced on you with the surgery physically... as in... you physically cannot eat hardly anything for months!!!..a teaspoon of food will fill you up as though you have eaten thanksgiving dinner. The hardest change is the mental... your brain says `I'm hungry'.. the body says `you can't eat that'. It can be done... I did it,,, glad I did so.. but it is NOT an easy path. MAJOR kudo's to you for going the diet route, and I heartily wish you continued success.

Flag forward to now. 20th birthday. I've damaged my leg pretty bad. We went to the hospital right away. Nothing broken. Time was a huge deal for me recently. I got a very promising job in terms of money and responsability. The problem was that it took me time at the afternoons that I used to invest in giving guitar classes in a Music Academy. I suffered for a long time (may 2016 to march 2017) and then I realised that money was not that important (I still was miserable). In the end I decided to look for another job. I decided to act. The result is that I have a better job now, with a better time schendule, and I can have more guitar students. The job is not as promising as the other one, but it lets me do what I want to do in life. I'm just happy now :)

Hey Boogie, Just wanted to say that I love your channel, man. I have only been subscribed for a few months, but it's indescribably refreshing to see a content creator who isn't mired in cynicism. Someone who'd rather light a candle than curse the darkness. I greatly admire that, and I think the world would be a brighter, better place if more people approached life with your positivity. Your passion, insight, and sincerity are nothing short of an inspiration. You remind me of what I love about games. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you undergo this surgery and embark on your new journey of self-improvement. Major lifestyle changes are terrifying, but so is a world without Boogie. You're a remarkable person and you touch 4 million lives on a regular basis. We all wish you health and happiness. You built a massive following doing the hardest thing a person can do in public: being yourself. If you can do that, you can do anything. Anyway, I'm rambling myself now, but a KZbin comments section at 2am seems like a good place to do that, especially concerning a channel as astute and unique as yours. Keep up the good work. To paraphrase Ralph Waldo Emerson, do something well and do it better than others, and the world will beat a path to your door. Hopefully all the bullshit blows over and you can continue to do what you love for many years to come. All the best, Mike

Boogie, after seeing a family member go through the gastric surgery process (and nearly dying due to complications as a result of switching from the gastric band to the gastric bypass), my one bit of advice is to PACE yourself whilst eating. There will be a lot of cookie tossing, if you know the dry heaving/vomiting phrase. My family member whom had these two surgeries had to deal with a lot of rushing to the sink to dry heave the food. This happened as a result of eating food and drinking liquid happening to close in proximity by way of time. So, to recap, please pace yourself with eating food. if need be keep a waste basket near by Just in case. Love ya man, keep up the good work. Would love to place some commander with you and a group!

Been trying to get some KZbin channels up, trying to get an online store rolling and trying to make it with a network marketing company. Everything has possibilities, but everything costs money and as you may understand, disability will not support you. I pray all the best for you, I had cancer in my leg and I had to have half of my but, all of the hip and left leg removed, and I never thought about the possibility of dying on the table, you seem to be a positive guy to only speak the good and know that you will make it through and be back with us.

I don't understand how anybody could think that people don't deserve to earn a living making KZbin videos. Entertainment is an industry. It takes time and money to produce videos. Most of us get out of bed every morning to make dollars and cents to pay our bills. I guess I envy high dollar KZbinrs a bit, but I don't begrudge them the money they make from their talent and initiative. If I had the talent and motivation I may do the same myself. As for the advertisers, I think they are going to need to return. This is the platform. Television is about dead. Cable companies are practically giving channels away with your internet subscription, and satellite providers have resorted to attacking you at Walmart to sign up! The fact remains that if you're dependent on advertisers they are going to have some type of control over your content. It's how network and cable channels work, their content is driven by that. Anyway, I hope thing work out well for your health. I'm considering a Patreon for a few channels I like on here! Cheers!

Best of luck with the surgery, Boogie! Keep with the program, stay as healthy as you can, and you'll pass those tests no problem! Furthermore, There's no reason to panic just yet. I don't think this hiccup will be the end of KZbin. Advertisers will pull out, but some will come back, and new advertisers will take the place of those who don't. The advertisers will eventually realize that this is new media and where the money is, once KZbin figures out a new algorithm that makes sure advertisers don't have ads posted on 'controversial content'. They'll be back and ready to spend. Its 11:49 PM CST here.

The most precious resource we have is our time. On another note, I too feel for the KZbinrs out there who rely on the ad revenues to make a living. I'd love to help any of them I can to find ways to keep doing their videos and replace that lost income so they can keep on doing them full time. I think the independent content creator is so precious and vital to an open society of free speech. I'm happy to help anyone who reaches out from the marketing side of things. I'd also love to get a dialogue going with other content creators and see what solutions we can come up with to get the cash flow back for those hurting most by all this craziness.

Let me start off by saying I love the rambling series! What i think would be awesome for someone like me personally is if you time stamped the topics you talk about in your description. Some days can be hectic and I still try to find a minute to sit down and watch your content but some days I find myself running out of time. Obviously I don't NEED a time stamp to swipe through the topics that interest me the most, but as a consumer, it would be nice!

I think the real sad thing is that people who may be struggling have this skewed view that KZbin is some sort of saving grace to their financial woes. KZbin/Google owes nobody anything, advertisers owe nobody anything and have every right to do what they want with their money. The people that were successful should just thank their lucky stars that they got in while the going was good and have amassed followings now. Every thing is subject to change and to change for the worse. The days of gaining mass fame and fortune are gone. I'd seriously get grounded and realize that KZbin at this point should just be a hobby and you should try to have fun with it. If anything, KZbin could still be used as a medium for making some fans and moving them off-site to somewhere else. That's how I'd use KZbin at this point. I also think the expectation of visitors to this site is skewed. It's a freely open to the public site. No one should have the audacity to expect a visitor, a guest, of this site to sit through ads, to not use programs like ad blocker, and to throw free money to people sitting at home making videos. Again, people should just be thankful that they get people interested in hearing them out and enjoy it and use that leverage to move away from KZbin. If you can get people on your own site, you make the rules -- not Google/KZbin or the advertisers.

Dude, I don't know why people keep making this same point over and over again. We KNOW Google/youtube can do whatever they want. We the consumers can also say what we want and how we feel about a company in which we are doing business with. Imagine if your boss told you that your pay check is getting cut in half and it doesn't matter because he can do whatever he wants! and your just lucky to have a job and be making money! You also have the right to speak up and or quit that job for another job. There is this thing called ETHICS that we as a society engage in. Entertainers ENTERTAIN and if they are good at it they SHOULD be able to make money doing it. Point of this is, ya we know google can do whatever they want but we still have the right to give our opinion and call them or the media out for unethical behavior/ hypocritical behavior. Google has made billions of dollars off of advertisements. Why is that? because people are coming to there website to watch CREATORS. We dont come here to stare at the youtube logo or watch ads. So the GOOD content creators are the ones getting the views for these advertisement company's ect. Ya they deserve to be compensated while having artistic freedom with as little censorship as possible. When you censor them, you change there content. When you give corporations complete power over what we say and hear it leads to very bad things.
@PatrickDKing
@PatrickDKing 7 жыл бұрын
Every creator or person who wants to rise to fame and glory making videos should feel free to buy a domain, buy and build a server, and buy enough bandwidth for visitors, and pay to get the word out that they exist. You fools, act like these private companies OWE YOU SOMETHING, well they don't. They don't owe you anything. Here's a way of looking at how selfish you people on KZbin are. I and many others work our asses off. Part of our paycheck goes into investments so that someday we can retire and live a modest life in our final years. Those investment dollars go into buying many things, one of which is corporate bonds and corporate stocks. If those companies do well, the bonds pay interest, and the stocks pay dividends. These companies (google, twitch, youtube, and advertisers) owe everything to us people that own their stocks and bonds. We want them to make important decisions that will save them money, make them profitable, reduce costs, and maintain a good positive image. If they don't, they default on the bonds, they lower or cut dividends, or in some cases never pay one at all... And the people that actually are making a living on KZbin, should be putting away for their retirement. And I tell you, putting your money in a savings account paying 0.002% interest isn't going to cut it. If you want that money to grow you're going to have to invest in bonds and stocks or funds that do it for you. People somehow think, oh I started a KZbin channel, the world now owes me a living. No it does not. It's fabulous that so many people have been able to do that, but again, nothing lasts forever... If KZbin channel creators are that important, then they can move off of KZbin and be successful. Right now they get a free ride and someone else pays for the power, hardware, servers, and bandwidth. Start paying for that stuff yourself and then you'll be bitching. It's expensive. No, creators don't deserve anything. If some really talented guy on the street is playing his saxophone quite well, it's not my responsibility to throw cash in his case. He goes there knowing damn well he's playing in a public space and maybe, just maybe some people will throw some money his way. Well that is KZbin. You are taking a chance that some viewers and money will get thrown your way. On having a traditional paying job: that's completely different. Not only do you have certain legal protections, but all states are what's called an at will state. You agree to work, they agree to pay for the work. Either party can sever the tie at any time. You owe them nothing, they owe you nothing except for pay for the work you did. Don't like it, build up your credit, save your pennies, and come up with your own business concept, take all the stress and risk that comes with it and hope you aren't one of the 9 out of 10 that fails in the first year. And then when you own your own business, remember, nobody owes you anything, and you owe nobody else anything. There I just gave you and anybody that reads this freagin' essay extremely good sound advise. You all owe me a living and should pay me for this valuable consultation even though it was not solicited. ::sarcasm::

+Patrick King Ok dude. I see what your saying. I disagree with some of your points but agree with youtubers going into business for them selves. If a youtuber or better yet, entrepreneur starts a company that offers subscription based services instead of relying on ads it could work. Not only would it work but youtubers would maker 10x as much money. Say you start a company that is open to ANY creator but charges .10 a month per creator that you follow. So in other words, you like 10 people on the site? that will be $1/ month. to have excess to all of their vids. Site takes 10-20% and the creators keep the rest That would make it so a person with say 2. million subs could make $200,000 a month! Minus taxes and site fee. Which is a hell of alot better than the current pay system in my opinion. I would rather pay $5 a month and follow 50 creators (channels) than pay for cable. My initial point was simple saying creators have freedom of speech and a right to give their opinions on what they believe to be unethical behavior. That's it. Not only am I NOT a youtuber, I work for a living and own a business. Many of these creators ALSO work for a living or did so at one point.

Boogie, the surgery doesn't force any change on you. I work with an older guy (60+) who had lap band surgery done. He got down to a little over 300lbs but shot back up to well over 500 in only a couple years time. If you don't change your entire life habits, you'll end up back where you started. I literally watched my own uncle die from obesity. His heart just couldn't handle it anymore and gave up. While I don't generally agree with your political stance on things, I do enjoy your content and believe you to be a genuine and good person. Make your wife the dictator of your diet and exercise. You both may hate it but seeing as you (admittedly) lack self control, she'll need to pick up that slack and force you. Good luck with your endeavour.
