12 Years late but: As someone that's designed old games, I can tell you the long password systems like that are "necessary" because not only does the password bring you to the level you left off at, it should give you all the weapons you had, and for really precise passwords (loooong) you should have the correct ammo amount, health amount, etc. that you left off at. And actually knowing what position and part of the code is what you can actually make it so you have more guns, ammo, health etc than you left off with.

My experience with this game consisted of a sitcom-like inability to talk to the right people at the right time on base, getting lost in the jungle for about an hour, learning to kill varmints and dodge swamp bubbles like a pro, and then getting jump-kicked to death by the first Communist I encountered. What a mysterious jogo.

Thought that was the funniest part, but unfortunately that version got replaced with this edited version, presumably initially because of the DVD release not allowing the use of movie shots, and then later KZbin not allowing film scenes in videos. At least you can still find the original edit online if you look hard enough.

Not necessarely. It all depends on how much you can compress game ROM content. A lot of games stored all kinds of paramenters and they usually had 4 max 5 characters of password.

I remeber putting with sword and serpents the pas, And I though as a kid. What If I typed 4 x the same char pass? Yep it worked. Now I had 4 x a mage with the same items.. Oh.. good old days it was back then. Multiple items and cheat w/o a code. Just try it on your own:P Ofcourse I didnt. As a kid I had respect to finish the game the normal way. But sure had this "heaven" feel when I found that out. I just had too. Because my writting failed on some codes ( was unreadable). So, back then I did a double code and it worked. Later I did it 4 x to test it.. and i was like OMG>> I RULE haha. Good times and a good feeling.
