The best interpretation I've seen so far says that they try to wipe themselves out of existence, but don't succeed. The band members, resembling their "Ich Will" characters, storm the place where their replicas/clones are kept (reference most likely to "Mutter", the vault also suggests that). At first, it seems that their plan is going to work, they light themselves and their clones on fire. They end up in a "purgatory", locked inside a cell, surrounded by other people, most likely fans. These people hold them back and don't want to let them ascend into, let's say, "eternity". In the end, they manage to break their chains and ascend, but only together with their fans, but in the end, we see that the "Ich Will" characters are lying dead on the ground, suggesting that their plan failed. They didn't manage to free themselves, they didn't manage to retire, so they're here to stay and they're here to stay as long as their fans hold on to them. Once again... Rammstein doesn't let us down.

This video has so many hints and possible ways of interpretation: First of all there are references to earlier songs and videos like "Ich Will" ("heist", haircut, smoking), "Mein Herz Brennt" (grid, cave), "Deutschland" (red beam and coffin in space shown at the official countdown to the premiere) , "Liebe ist für alle da", "Mann gegen Mann" (masses of bodies), and of course: "MUTTER" (cave with grid, Till in cave, "Mutter 22" on the laboratory door). It looks like they are on a crusade (crosses in focus) using a car with "LIFAD 6" as number plate: LIFAD is the official fan community of Rammstein and also the name of their sixth album. They enter the Paris opera house and shoot their way towards the "laboratory". While doing so, they are "dirty", dressed up for the fight. Flake mages to get the door opened with his hacker tool. On the door you find the letters “Mutter 22”. This can have (at least for me) two meanings: Their third album Mutter was released in 2001 and will become 21 years old next year. Even more fitting is another explanation for me: Around the time of “Mutter”, the band had internal conflicts and they were even close to a split. Beside other things there were disputes about the artistic future. So, they open the door “of “Mutter” and behind it there are clones of themselves. And they somehow have a kind of similar looking to the fetus (a 200 year old dead fetus btw.) One could see those “clones” as former beings of them from the “Mutter” area. Beside that the always straight red beam (past and future / red thread) has lost its direction. Like the band wasn’t clear which way to proceed. The current Rammstein change their behavior, become soft, sentimental, … before they burn down the lab and their “Mutter” clones. For me it shows, that they had to break free from the situation they were in, but nevertheless it was their live and their success, … The following scene will introduce the cave to us. From above there are six statues looking / facing downwards into it. Down there are the band members in a cage surrounded by masses of creatures (for me the fans). The band members in the cage are attached to chains, which are pulled by the creatures (fans). The band is stuck in a cage is in hell. The masses are following them, but they are are also “tormenting” the band. The fans themselves are also stuck in hell themselves. Within the cave the band is first in the cage and has metal “helmets” on and the creatures don’t move. Then they get rid of the helmets and the fans start to move. The bands gets more energetic. Finally they get free and rise towards heaven, smiling, but there is still some firing of guns. With them the fans rise up. The next scene is still irritating: The band is on ground level of the opera again, moves towards the cage and they all jump into the cave. Now you see the “band-creatures” standing on top of the cave. They rise their arms and it seems that they are pulling down the giant statues from the top of the cave. Everything crushes down, but the straight red beams rises upwards. They had to crush the hell with the giant statues as “gods” at the top and the band caught in a cage at the bottom to have a straight direction again. While the credits of this incredibly insane production are shown, one can see the dead band members lying on the floor towards the laboratory door. Right in front of the door with still “Mutter-22” on it, we find the dead Flake with his not successful hacker tool trying to unlock the door. Is this an alternative ending? Maybe. Somehow. I get the idea, that there are two time layers woven together. In the past the crushed the hell, escaping the boundaries given by fans, public, media and very probably even themselves. They were successful and the band had a future, represented by the straight upward red beam. But history can repeat. They are always endangered to get trapped again, to be torn apart. And therefore in 2022 there can be a new “Mutter-Crisis” like in the original one. They have to be aware of it and have to fight it every time it happens. When they nowadays find their “clones” behind that door, they know, they have to “burn” them down, but they have now a more differentiated view onto the past and therefore there is also sympathy for and an emotional connection with their “clones”. But if they do not face the danger of getting trapped again (as clones or as caged creatures) there will be no future for Rammstein. Then band “THEN” would die and the red beam would disappear. But if they are aware of it and if they continuously succeed to avoid being trapped again, there IS a future for the band All these ideas written down here are my personal thoughts. They can be one explanation, they can be wrong, they can be one of many interpretations. I still have so many question marks myself. But also some ideas, that might be not totally wrong.

At the beginning some important references in the video for interpretation: -References to religion are present throughout the video. The costumes that the band wears, the purification by fire, the scene where the band flies away in a whirlwind; -The scene where Till passes his head outside the truck resembles one of the scenes of "Batman: The Dark Knight". Paul has a "Joker" badge on his jacket; -The truck's plate reads "LI FAD 6", a reference to Rammstein's sixth album; -The guard passing through the window has a "Universal Music" badge. The entrance to the Opera House also says "Universal"; -The fight scene has several "Matrix" references; -It is written "Mutter 22" next to the armored door of the chambers room. Flake's computer program looks like the artwork from the Mutter album; -The busts used on the artwork of Video 1995-2012 are visible on the screens next to the caissons; -On the gas can, a flower can be seen like on the album Herzeleid; -The scene where the band floats in the sky is a reference to the movie "The Immortals"; -The red lasers are of course the same as the ones in the video Deutschland At the beginning, the band sits heavily armed in a troop transport as a kind of special task force and drives through a city at night while Till Lindemann sticks his head out of the window - just like the Joker in the DC film "Batman: The Dark Knight". . The goal seems to be a red cone of light that shines out of an opera house/church/cathedral into the cloudy sky. The many Christian symbols that the viewer can discover in the car are striking in the first few seconds: a crucifix on the mirror, a Bible from which one page is torn, crosses as tattoos on the faces of the band members. A nod to the religious worship of rock stars and the great expectations of the band , which has always been very distressing for Rammstein. They celebrate the last supper - with cigarettes and liquor from a hip flask, similar to how Rammstein always does before they start a concert. The van stops, the band storms into the Opera/Church/Cathedral which is the powerful headquarters of Universal Music, to which Rammstein is contracted, while the car's license plate clearly reads "Lifad 6" - an acronym for the sixth Rammstein album "Love is for everyone" (Album „Liebe ist für alle da“). A wild shootout begins. The band fights their way to a heavy metal door marked "Mother-22". This is also a reference to an earlier album of the same name. In addition, the band obviously wears their style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Till Lindemann, with black make-up and a mohawk, guitarist Richard Kruspe with jet-black hair that hangs in his face. As the band members enter the room, they find their own bodies preserved in cryochambers. They mourn briefly and set the room on fire, apparently an older version of themselves. Her appearance is strongly reminiscent of the cover of "Mother". The time around this album "Mutter" seems to have been central for the further career of the band. In several documentaries, the musicians stated that they almost broke up during this phase. The USA tour at that time was canceled - allegedly for health reasons. The main reason for the dispute was the different ideas of how one wanted to develop artistically. At that time, Till shot the video for the song Mother alone without the other band members. The band was about to break up and started doing therapy sessions together. It also fits this picture that the band in the video for "Adieu" finds itself in a cage in the form of a Rammstein logo, similar to Till Lindemann in the video “Mutter”, besieged by hordes of zombie-like creatures that are apparently supposed to represent their fans - trapped in the Success. After being overwhelmed by their "fans", the band members ascend to heaven. You can see her now, except for Lindemann, without make-up, freshly styled, apparently content. In exactly the same way, they throw themselves into the abyss (hell), from which the red cone of light shines. In Hell, they free themselves from the chains and thus free themselves. They crumble to dust and break out of the cage they were held in The band addresses their career and the "turning point" after the album "Mutter", which almost led to their separation from Rammstein. In the video, this change is probably symbolized by the fact that the "new" version of Rammstein, who storms into the opera, had to kill her old one, because otherwise she would have perished herself. The band members are preserved in the "Mother" room and their current versions march in and torch their clones with a petrol can. Are they not saying goodbye to the band, to themselves, as many believe, but to the idea of disbanding? It's an interpretation that also fits with a statement by guitarist Paul Landers: When meeting a fan before one of the concerts on the European tour, he stated that "Adieu" was not a farewell because all members still had a lot of fun with Rammstein. Rammstein never thought about quitting. The songs on the new album „Zeit“ are based on experiences and losses that the band members had to go through. Now that they have reinvented themselves and have all the freedom, they are able to face the pressure and expectations and break out of the "cage" on their own. The footage of the video, in which the band members are shot dead on the ground, shows Rammstein what would have happened if they hadn't managed to reinvent themselves. If the musicians hadn't managed to get into the room marked "Mother" and self-destruct there, they would be dead by now. So if they hadn't settled their disagreements at the time, Rammstein would have been long gone. Rammstein has overcome the times when there were many thoughts of quitting. The other interpretation, which is also very obvious: The video actually announces the approaching end of Rammstein. The Rammstein members break free from themselves in a painful process and die as seen in the end credits of the video and are released from all the star hype and expectations and can start a new life.

This song is amazing live. Especially since it’s their closing song. Till changes the words “dir” to “euch”. So he’s not speaking to a single person, but rather to the entire crowd. The chorus goes “Adieu, Goodbye, Aufwiedersehen. The rest of the way you must go alone. A final song, a final kiss, no miracle will come. Adieu, Goodbye, Aufwiedershen. The time with you all was beautiful”.

Yes, it quotes every video and significant song theme from the album Mutter (the robbery from "Ich will", Til surrounded in flames from "Mein Herz brennt", the apocalyptic burning-up-sun quote from "Sonne", them opening fire quoting "Feuer frei!", them in a cage as in the title song "Mutter". After that album, the band was in a bad shape - particularly because they were pushed to represent something that wasn't them anymore. In that phase, they almost fell apart, but managed to reinvent themselves and get together again. But the only solution to do that is by letting go of your former selves (the figures in stasis look exactly as the members did at the time of the album "Mutter") - or, in the Rammstein way, burn them. That's why the name of the cryo chamber is Mutter. And then they break free by destroying the monuments that were once built for them (without their consent) - it's a poetic way of saying: "I don't really give a f%&$ about your mainstream opinion - I'd rather tear it down!" Oh, and by the way: the last song on "Mutter" was called "Adios"!.

I watched so many Adieu-Reaction videos already, because I love how people react to the song, but I was waiting for yours, because I love how enthusiastic you are about their songs and the band in general. The instrumental piece at the end is taken partly from the song "Zeit". And you got the reference to "Mutter" correctly. Heck, I noticed it for the first time, when yoou mentioned it. In the song "Mutter" Till sings about being born without a mother (being an experiment or a clone) and the bodies in those tubes are clones as well.

Easter eggs: the countdown of the video started with the coffin of Germania floating through space (last scene of Deutschland video); the first scene of Till in the van has a resemblance of the scene "The dark knight" in which Joker is driving in a cab. Paul has "Adieu" written on his jacket and a cross tattooed under his eyes (crosses and churchs motifs are recurring objects in the entire video) The band's car has the lincense plate "LI-FAD 6" which refer to the Liebe ist für alle da, their 6th album. The cover of the single "Deutschland" can be seen on the fences in the back. The security guards are employed by Universal, which is also written above the entrance. Paul also wear three different buttons, the lowest one is showing The Joker. The screens next to the "clones" seem to use the head from the "Videos 1995-2012" DVDs. The petrol can has a "herzeleid" flower sticker. Paul pouring the petrol could be a reference to "Benzin" on the early days, of which Paul said they also poured petrol on the ground and ignited it. like in the scene. Till staring into the camera in front of a burninf roo is a refference to "Mein herz brennt". In the scene they are kind atrapped, can be a reference to the "Mein herz brentt" video and to the "Mutter" video too. The muddy band can be a reference to the "Mein teil" video. In the scene Till appears pulling chains, his hair seems to be a reference to "Seemann" video. The scene of the guys floating refers to the ending scene of the movie "The immortals". The band falling into a hole could be kind of a reference to "Angst" The scene of the red light at 7:24 could be about the band playing live on the "b-stage" surrounded by fans (like Bück dich live video). There's a lot of references out there, like The Matrix and Mutter 22 on the door you mentioned.

Yeah, really great video. The song you heard at the outro is Zeit. And for the signification of that song, Paul (guitar) said than the song talks about loose a family member or a very good friend, not about the end of Rammstein, and said than the band are in a very great mood, and they apparentely wants to continue the adventure, and maybe release a new album in the future? Paul don t talk about a new album but why not after some tours. And finally, they prepare a very big documentary about their story, and they wants to release the song Ramm4 for that occasion, and they recorded the 3 shows in Mexico for a new live album.

Finally you both reacted...🤗. And yes, like mentioned from others here, Zeit was used for the outro. To me the "dead bodies" means, like said, that they weren't able to take control over, the plan/wish did not work. At least we as their fans do have to accept that things going to change. And they won't doing the same things over and over again, chambers where the Clones were keeping alive in their existence . Maybe our guys miss the old times ...but we all have to face that the past is history and we are now what we've been through, to give our future to be the best version of ourselves. IMO If they want to focus on other things, why not...the music will always be there. They are irreplaceable but have to live their life with or without music.

My interpretation of this video along with the song is that they were essentially cleansing themselves of the sins of their past and were honoring their sacrifices they have made. (I draw from when Richard was crying on the floor praying in front of his caged avatar) Everyone was also dressed as priests. Perhaps the avatars they lit on fire were to their demons that they have been living with for so long and they have finally made peace with themselves enough to forgive their pasts and purge themselves of that burden. Also, note the cage underground similar to the cage that the titans were trapped in by Zeus in Tartarus.

Here are the Easter eggs: - the vault is mutter22 when the band had some issues and considered potentially quitting (even though Paul landers said they never considered it) - the license plate on the van is LIFAD6: the sixth album on liebe ist fur der alle is fruhlong in Paris. The building where the video is shot is in Paris. - the matrix reference with shooting the guard and metal detector is because du hast was on the first matrix film soundtrack introducing the band to wider non German audiences - Richard has focus on him as he lights a cigarette and he is the one that sets the clones on fire. This is because he is the founder of the band and he is the one who gets to destroy the band - flick is the one who is using the laptops keyboard because he is the bands keyboardist - in the opening of the song as the drums kick in you see the bands drummer shooting guns to the beat of the drums - the zombie fans pull on chains and make a caged band perform whenever they please. The band decides to pull on the chains bringing the whole thing down and forever killing the band. However you see that they never made it inside the vault. This is the contradiction to the chorus. As much as they want to kill their own creation it has transcended them and cannot be killed. They might all be dead but the clones (suggesting their music library) will live on beyond them

The location is an opera house in Paris I think. The video contains allusions to many old videos of the band. And is supposed to be a reappraisal of the feelings at the time. With all the ups and downs, heaven and hell. Also problems within the band. In the video are many sequences and scenes in the style of older productions. Epic made. They end their own past in several versions whether rise as an end or crash. Plus they kill themselves, epic.

I take it like the band was considering ending their career and retiring, killing themselves, and reaching Heaven (represented by flying into the sky) but when they perform they are in a form of Hell because it is hard, but at the same time they are just as dirty as the masses that listen to them. They are no different and we all dance and sing together. Ultimately, the band chose to remain in Hell and we will all die together. The final scene, they ultimately decided they could not destroy what they have built (their past selves) and instead have chosen to die fighting, performing for their fans and creating music.

Yeah, when I heard it I was confused and worried. One thing was optimistic: they sing "Die Zeit mit Dir war shön", this means "I had great time with you"... but singular "tou", not plural. So it shouldn't be farewell to fans

On the other hand, symbolism inthis video is really confusing and it is hard to figure out the clear message. Rammstein is always ambiguous.

@@nobodynemoq yeah agree with you about the thing that made you optimistic and about the unclear symbolism I am accustomed to it lol. If you didn't understand even though I am not as old as many others (24yo) I am obsessed with rammstein and have been listening to them for 13 years

A band of the same genre as rammstein, Stahlmann, makes some badass songs. Schwarz, plasma and Hass Mich/Lieb mich for example are some of their best. I STRONGLY recommend you check them out

first of all the song is a homage to death and dying. In the video itself are hidden messages from their songs and albums. For example, the Transporter's license plate reads "Love is for everyone." The door to the room where the clones are located reads "Mother 22." That's how it goes through the whole video. In order to understand the video, the credits are crucial. In it you can see that the band members are all lying dead in the anteroom of the Paris Opera. implying that they have not reached the room where the clones are located. This leaves a lot of room for interpretation of what really happened in between.

I wish I could convey in a way that didn't sound crazy what this is about, but I done know no one would pay it any mind. But it is about the same topic that most other songs you hear in movies and radio are about. Very cleverly worded. So instead of trying to give y'all the truth is Stranger Than Fiction shit to get laughed at I will just point some things out. Once you look you will start seeing the same references in so much. Check out the video by pop evil called deal with the devil I think. Also the video give it away by rhcp. something should seem familiar to you about the videos and the words in those songs to the one you covered in this video. Even video games. The guy on the right seems about the right age to have played and enjoyed ff7. If so then the way that Jenova was portrayed the few times in the game should also seem familiar. One last one I will name even though there is countless more I could say. The video on KZbin named I pet goat 2. Creepy af and very cryptic and it should be obvious the topic it is about. There are several things but the one I will point out is there was a part in it where there was a bunch of men but they were like stones standing still Motionless, very similar to what that showed when they went down. And yeah they did die in the video you find out at the end but they also achieved and succeeded in the goal they went in there to do. People need to start thinking about things on a spiritual level to maybe get a better grasp of what it is trying to convey

I've always wanted to ask. So like you put a video up - does it get blocked immediately or can it last a bit then you get hit by the ban hammer? Cos if it's the first I'm always trying to get in as soon as possible but I've seen a couple of reactions to this which seem to have lasted. This video is incredible

Lately Rammstein's label has stopped blocking reactions to there videos other than blocking them for Russia to view.

@@MatandChelsReact ooh that's interesting hey. Makes your life easier no doubt. I think they're just at a point where they want their music out there. I can't stop watching this, I even had my folks watching it with me lol. My folks are Neil Diamond, Tom Jones etc type people so it's nice to drag them into my world a bit. I'm sad though, no tours here announced like if it was 2023 we are coming into festival season. Unless it's like this Time next year... argh I'm so impatient but last big show I went to was ages ago. I think it was Def Leppard with my lil sis. I now don't have my hair metal show buddy anymore. Though I know I'll be able to drag a few people along to rammstein. Even if I gotta be wheeled in I'm going to see em dammit lol

This music video is very confusing. I think the problem is that the original song had a certain idea, but the director of the video (more like the movie) changes the original clear meaning. But this has also happened in other Rammstein music videos. So if I interpret this video from the position of the lyrics of the song, then it is a dark meditation on a life that is heading towards death. A person can try to fight death (crusade - the cross is on Till's neck, it also appears on the windshield of the van, the minigun shooter's mask has the shape of a cross). But the very symbol of the cross is ambiguous - it symbolizes death (cemeteries) on the one hand, but faith on the other hand (existence does not end with death). But Rammstein declared themselves atheists. So the fight is futile. The scene of hell and ascension may mean reflection on the dual possibility of existence after death. But (according to atheism) the hell scene can also mean suffering during life - we are attacked by our own demons, doubts and fear of death. The "ascension" scene is taken from the movie "The immortals" - the fight between the Titans and the Gods. We know the Titans have been defeated. Man cannot win over death. So he has to accept her. But nothingness also means the end of all suffering. The only thing a man can do and what gives him greatness is to accompany his fellows to the brink of death and not forget them. Rammstein destroys their bodies in cryochambers - there is no point in trying to prolong life artificially (e.g. vegetative "life", when the body is connected to equipment - ICU in a hospital). The "overthrow of the deities" scene - takes place under a dome that looks exactly like the Pantheon in Rome. Pantheon means "temple of all gods". I understand it in the sense of "God is dead and we have killed him" (Nietzsche). It may mean that they proudly reject the illusory hope offered by religion. At the end, Rammstein lie dead - they lost the fight, but that doesn't mean it was pointless. Death cannot lose - we always lose in a match with it. But the real defeat would be passive surrender - life's fatalism, that's why even a lost battle in advance has a meaning.
