The boat has been one of Rammstein's longest serving things they do. It was first used for the song "Seemann", then it was used for the song "Stripped" then it was used for "Haifisch" , and the shark was added. And now it is used as the entrance for the band for the song "Auslander" so you will get to see it It's mainly been Flake's thing but he was once pulled into the crowd and stripped off his clothes and it put him off so Oliver took over for the times they did it for "Stripped" which is kinda ironic.

Flake once told that he was thrown over the fence of the concert area with the boat and that he only got back to the stage via detours.

On their recent tour, they used much bigger boats to get back from the middle stage to the main stage. And guess what, in Dresden i was one of the guys holding the boat to let the band step in. Unforgetable moment!

This is my favorite Rammstein song, but it's completely underrated. The lyrics are SO good! It basically says that the water in the sea is salty because the sharks are crying so much because they are so lonely in the depths of the sea. You need to watch the official music video though, it's make the song better imo.

The song is also a play on “Mack the Knife” or “Die Moritat von Mackie Messer” in its original German title. It’s a famous song from Berthold Brecht’s “Threepenny Opera” from 1928. But there it says “And the shark, it has teeth, and it wears them in the face, and Macheath, he has a knife, but the knife can’t be seen.” A less accurate translation in terms of literal wording but better in terms of rhyme is the 1954 Broadway adaptation which went “Oh, the shark has pretty teeth, dear, and he shows them pearly white, just a jack-knife has Macheath, dear and he keeps it out of sight.”

Did somebody realize that the lyrics in the hook are from Macky Messer in an old opera are? The opera is German and called 3 Groschen Oper and the lyrics say: And the shark has tears but the shark is living in the water. So you don’t see the tears. But in the oceans it is lonely that’s why the water in the oceans is so salty. Even the melody is really near to the opera. Great thing to bring classic sounds an lyrics back to today. I love it!

I know music breaks language barriers but I still haven't fully understood why I and millions of others in America have become obsessed with a band we cannot understand. It's killer metal, till is a legend, their imagery is awesome but we seem to vibe with a language that is basically gibberish to us, must be an energy we vibe with, either way it's fascinating to me. Anyway, Rammstein fan for life! And you guys rock.

I love this song you should check out the official music video for it next it’s really good. I’ve heard several different things about this song interpretation …mostly about how it’s all about the band and how they’re better when they’re together because how they had almost split up a few times before. I’ve also heard it’s about the band and their relationship with the fans or also it's about the band how they're viewed by everyone else as being dangerous but really they are just harmless.

In a 2011 interview with german Rolling Stone magazine Till and Flake told the story of a concert at a festival in Toronto. The people in the audience carried Flake all the way to the back, where they kind of 'dumped' him over the fence of the festival area. He hurt his knee in the fall and then had to walk all the way back around the fencing to the stage entrance, where luckily someone recognised him by his clothes and let him back in.

Perhaps you know the German poet Bert Brecht. He wrote the Threepenny Opera. One song in it is called "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer". It continues: " And the shark, he has teeth. And he wears them on his face. And Macheath, he's got a knife. But you can't see the knife. " Till sings tears instead of knives. The text is very similar to the text of the Threepenny Opera.

Kind of late for the premier, but I'm glad that you both loved the song. If you ever decide to react to the official music video definitely do it, Mat's right about his initial feeling. Also I wanted to through out something cool really quick since Mat mentioned sharks and Chels mentioned Florida, there's a water park in Orlando called Typhoon Lagoon and they have a part of the park that allows you to snorkel/swim with small sharks. If you're ever down that way definitely check it out.

So that must be the newer boat. Flake told in an interview in the early 2000s, how there were instances when people stuck knifes through the bottom of the boat, so they needed one with a thicker bottom.

This was a long time always the "great Flake Moment". Flake, the man Till always tries to "kill" on stage. Flake always enjoys this moment of boat surfing very much. Sometimes he falls to the floor in the back rows. Then Flake is not amused and the other members laugh at him on stage . But sometimes he doesn't come back in time and then the others have to play, play, play and play and they get angrier and more angrier, because Flake does not come back. :-)))) Then Flake laughs......:-))))

This song basically assumes that this band conveys the feeling of togetherness. According to the motto one for all, all for one. Fun Fact. At the beginning of your career, you also had a dinghy at the live concert of the Song Seemann, but Oli (bassist) was on the boat. However, this was never as stable as the one, because the floor was only made of rubber, so that the audience sometimes pierced knives or pointed objects.

I would hate being killed by a shark; it's an unintelligent beast only at advantage in the water. You can't fight it in its habitat and you get consumed like a fool. You become prey-bad legacy. I'd take on any shark outside the water. It's not fair but it's not fair in the water either; they are phenomenally adapted.
