I am learning German because of these yahoos. My son (36) is now fluent. Love Rammstein. (My son turned me on to them). He saw them at Soldier Field last year. They are now a bucket list band for me.

These reactions would have deserved many more views. Too bad but maybe that still comes when you react to the music videos. I really appreciate that you are one of the few reaction channels that deal with the lyrics. Keep it up.

@@wizardofoz220 There is no man in the house, he helps out as good as he can and his mother forces him 'on his lap' [might not be meant literally but to create the picture of sexual abuse. Ask yourself, if the song was about a woman still living with her Dad and you hear these lines, wouldn't you think about incest?]
@passio-7352 жыл бұрын
Society doesn't talk enough about female abusers. They have always been there and I do believe they are as plenty as male abusers, the abuse only shows in different types [not always but often]. When I think about the patriarchy I often think how at it's peak it has been a woman's job to raise a child. Of course the army, war and male companionship came later and formed a lot of male thinking but all these men have been raised by mothers and female staff. I think when we look at it today we fail to acknowledge their involvement [and power] and how even today independent women often favor men who conform to the 'classic' imagine of a male. Equality and the end of the patriarchy can only be achieved if there is a change in how we raise boys as well, if we treat both genders equally and listen to our children's needs instead of telling them what is expected from their gender. That does not mean 'raising boys as girls' [I had this discussion before and both women and men somehow seem very much against this] but raising them in the same way we do not 'raise girls as boys' when we allow them to play football, wear trousers, choose their own jobs and so on.

Hello dear. Your reaction to the lyrics is a very good example of cultural differences. Although we are shaped in Western cultures. To be honest, I was a little shocked at first by your reaction to the 'slap in the face'. Then it occurred to me that corporal punishment of children is still accepted and practiced in the United States.(Even at school! This has been strictly forbidden here since the 1970s )That is not only out of the question here, but also outbid by law for the parents. There has been a total rethink here since the late 1960's and you can have custody suspended if that comes out. I'm not saying it's not happening yet, but it is social completely frowned upon. It's totally okay for boys to cry these days here. Nobody things it's a sign of weakness. But back to the lyrics. Maybe the translation wasn't that on point, but Till does not only sings about corporal punishment, but also implys sexual abuse by the mother.Another taboo that the band takes up and confronts us in the most unspeakable way possible. For me as a mother the song is a tough one and yet I love it because the band speaks to it. With love from Germany 🤘 😎

I think you are more of man and strong if you can show emotions. You are weak if you hide them because it is easier. Men are considered to be strong and therefore not cry and this is just false. And I think with the abusive mother in this song, Rammstein is showing the opposite of what is actually sang from the mothers point of view.

Great discussion Oliver. As I was reacting I was thinking of different ways men cry. Crying from the heart I agree with you. I don't think it is easy to hide emotions. Men have to search for emotions. Keep in mind that men can kill each other with no problem. The emotion of anger is the highest emotion in men. We must search for our sensitivity emotion and it is hard to find. I do think that if a man is too sensitive and can cry at a whim....they will have issues with other men. I know it sounds weird but if a man cries when a bee stings him, wooowww! Holy Moly! That is weird to other men. Such a great discussion. I am sure there are many opinions on this.

@@oldguyreactions Well, there are, because I think he is really thinking of a mental pain here and this is different from the physical. Because at last one I also do not cry at all. I am a woman and hardly show my emotions as well, because no one is allowed to see my weakness. It is the only self-protection I have. The public will hardly sae me crying, I do it only, when no one sees it and my tears are mostly because of for example gaslighting done by other people and stuff like that. If you have such a toxic mother, it is more the mental pain. The hitting harms you less, then the verbal abuse and I know what I am talking about. And then there are also the tears of happiness. About the killing, let me just give you two female leaders, who also sent in the Army. With the English Armada we have Queen Elisabeth the 1, then Theater who had a little "incident" S-Amerika. Janne D'ark who was fighting in battle. Boudica (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudica) in Great Britain again against the Romans. In Ireland Grace O'Malley and many more. This killing thing, belongs to mankind in general, only that many women does not want to admit it and give the fault to the men. And now comes something many will hate me for. In my opinion women are not so much better as men, when it comes down to abuse, only women hide it more. I often have the feeling they do it more brutal because of it. After that something more positive again. Thanks for the reaction, we might not always agree with each other, but I like it, when people think about these songs. ❤️

I suppose the song is good and the lyrics are great, but for me is the weakest in the album purely because the music is almost entirely recycled old Rammstein riffs is as if Mutter and Puppe had a babe.
