My favorite muay thai fighter of all time. He fought like a demon from hell. If he could feel pain he never showed it, if he could feel fear he didn't show it and even in defeat he was victorious. This man lives even after death, a fighter and a legend in every possible way, a true warrior that didn't know the meaning of defeat. May your name live forever champion!!

He lost 20% of matches over his entire career. His largest win streak was only 5. I wonder if his popularity is because of his skin color in a primarily Asian sport? He looks like a great fighter but he doesn't stand out that much to me. Not like the other Muai Thai legends that have amazing footage to back up their credibility.

First off, I want to thank you for making this Mini Documentary about this legendary fighter! I had actually forgotten about him, I am now 51 yrs. old, he is the same age as me, I remember seeing him fight before UFC was in existence, and I loved his tenacity, nonstop onslaught, meticulous combos, that absolutely took his opponents apart, piece by piece! I tried to be him in every way when I fought in the streets, I won almost every fight, and the couple I didn't, they respected me afterwards. I can't even tell you how much I respect this man, he was a role model and legend...I can't believe I forgot about him untill you showed this video, he lost many of those fights because of discrimination, and that's a sad fact! He deserves alot more respect and prestige than all these MMA, UFC fighters! I truly hope to see more documentaries on "The Diamond Dutchman"!

Either way, MT has the clinch and sweeps, but not the full variety of throws, takedowns, submissions, and offense/defense from these positions As for the style specifically, punches and combinations with the hands are sort of rare. Which is why Dekkers as an individual had alot of success. As someone that loves Dekkers as a fighter, has an immense amount of appreciation for his style, and is sad about his death, I don't think most people are familiar with muay thai scoring. It seems like most assume it's like boxing or kickboxing and it really is worlds apart in terms of how scoring is judged. It is a vastly different sport and there's so much of the Thailand culture in the scoring that I don't think most foreigners are familiar with based on many of these comments.

It’s all speculation, since he was never knocked out, and you end the fight with both fighters on their feet. You may say, he won, he lost... but, from a fighters perspective, you can not know, unless there is defeat. And, using excuses to name a winner, while both still stand is a joke. My advice to him, knock your opponent out. Hard to claim victory when you’re laying on the canvas.

Great video and narrating, I only wished that you also showed the part where he received as the first non asian, the royal award from the Thai Royal family. And especially what he said afterwards outside: "This award was worth 25 years of fighting!" I get chills everytime I see that. He died 1 month later sadly, after receiving this award. Ramon Dekkers, he had his ankle fused to his shin, fought at the end of his career Duane Ludwig with only his left arm because his right arm bicep was torn. Won the fight also on points with 3 or 4 knockdowns. The Diamond he is/was... but I still like his other nickname better: The turbine from hell, due to his non-stop ferocious attacks and combo's R.I.P Muay Farang!! Another legend John Wayne Parr on Joe Rogan podcast telling his story when he met his idol Ramon Dekkers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f53EpqOvbZaef6M This was his 1 arm fight against Duane Ludwig. Just his left arm! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYqchKd5ocd3ftk

Your right about that royal medal. That is sometthing really extraordinary to receive as an foreigner. The Thai gave him the respect the Dutch gouvernement never gave Ramon. This is actually the clip where he received the award. > kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2OVpGaCmJt2hrs
