Thanks for some great ideas. I bought one of your DF500 Domino Docks back in March of 2020 because I know it would be useful someday. Well, that day came this past week and it worked really well. Used it to cut domino slots in both ends of a few dozen parts and it went zip, zip through the batch (using the trim stop). Also, saw your interview with George Vondriska a while back - good stuff.

Hey Mark…thanks a ton for the support! Years ago when I made the Dock , I needed a way to speed production. A cradle seamed like a good answer. I had no idea it would turn into a business! 😆

I get that a lot. Here’s the funny thing. I feel like I have dozens upon dozens of jigs n fixtures. I thought, “hmmm, I could do series!” Then realized as I’m remembering all these jigs…oh crap, that one, and that one …and that one got tossed! 😆
@douggilchrist51312 жыл бұрын
You know what I think would make a wonderful series on your channel? A series where you build one of your great Pieces of furniture and develop a fixture/jig or two to help you complete the project. I think that would let your viewer see how your thought process relates to what you are building.

Ramon, thanks for showing us this stuff! You're teaching a crude, hobbiest woodworker from GA who thought jigs were a necessary evil expenditure of time to reframe how I perceive them and maybe even to look for ways to create jigs for each piece to refine my skills. Love your channel!!

That was a fun video to watch, Ramon. It was great to see how you made my Dock which I have just started using and love it. The idea of using topcoat rather than waxing each screw is fantastic. I'm now going to have to wait patiently to find out what those magnets are for on your DF500. Great job and thanks, Ramon.

I just stumbled on your channel and definitely subscribed. You're awesome and I'm new to woodworking! Quick question. I'm noticing the 2-degree taper is typical. When you have two sides tapered, are each of them 1-degree or are each side 2-degree (which would sum to 4-degree)? Much appreciated.
@ramonartful Жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! I’m assuming you’re referring to my Dock for the Festool DF 500, yeah? The cradle part is tapered 2° on each side and 2° on the face…the back where it attaches to the main body is 90°. Hope that makes sense. Thanks a ton!

Ok. It’s been awhile since I first saw this video and I’m still curious about those aluminum pins with magnets and the DF500 are about at the end of the video. Did I miss it in a follow up video?
@ramonartful2 жыл бұрын
I had to sideline this project! So many things to do always! 😆 The magnetic pins attract to the screws in the body of the DF 500 and the plastic part is what rubs against the handle on the DF 500 Domino Sled. One of these days I’ll continue this project. Thanks
