Absolutely correct!!! Talent, in my opinion, is overrated. Singing can be hard work. I've been a singer for over 20 years and still practice. But I found a lot of fun and joy in being that committed.

It takes at least 10 years to master anything. If you focus on what ever it is you want to learn. You’ll achieve it without even knowing it. I’ve been practicing singing for a year and half and I’m better then I was a year and a half ago. I don’t sound like George Michael. But I will cuz I’m not stopping and I’m not learning to impress any one just for my own enjoyment and satisfaction.

that's a practical approach
@thefakenews31503 жыл бұрын
The 10,000 rule refers to extreme mastery, for example; a brain surgeon, an Olympic class athlete. Your training is often a sigmoid curve. The closer you get to the top the longer it takes to make progress. Whereas 1000hrs in something, is more like having a bachelor's degree. IIRC around 300hrs you can feel the difference, you're no longer a novice. In other words; the worse you are, the easier it is to make progress. This is assuming you are approaching the subject correctly, ie focused practice not random practice and a good teacher.

Not to mention the 10 000 hours thing has been debunked by numerous scholars
@thefakenews31503 жыл бұрын
@@TheRezabob According to whom? Provide a source to a meta-analysis please. Because according to Dr. Peter Vishton, professor of psychology at the college of William & Mary there is in fact credence to this claim. However it must be "deliberate practice." For example. Ten hours of doodling will not help your drawing skills, while 10 hour of drawing faces with the goal of trying faces in different positions will.

I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anybody know a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Mulberry20002 жыл бұрын
@@thefakenews3150 There is no credience to the claim at all. A person doing a honours degree at university does not even come close to the 10,000 rule yet they know the subject very well ( in the UK degrees are highly speicalised so that you do one subject for three years, and at the end you get an honours degree, while in the US its four years for the same degree). Then add on a Masters degree and a phd it does not come close. To get to 10,000 rule one has to study for 52 weeks a year and 70 hours per week for 3 years. Thats is right no breaks, all year round, that would be impossible and uni courses only last 7-8 months lol. its not the number of hours of study that matter it is how you studied in the hours you did. So you can study say karate for 4 years. and become a black belt. There is no way a black belt does 10,000 hours of study in karate to become the dan grade. Why? 2 lessons a week at 1 1/hour per lesson, is 3 hours per week, you can work out the rest. This is why the japanese say a black belt is not the highest grade but its the start. If you studied karate for 10 hours a day 7 days a week, for 3 month you can achieve black belt level. No one would say a black belt person does not know his or or her karate. The point i am making as well is that intelligence is also important in how a person learns, people mistake the number of hours a person does then jump to the conclusion they must be very good, not so. www.6seconds.org/2020/01/25/10000-hour-rule/

With many things, and I think that includes singing too, it's like, if you got a line from bottom to top illustrating all the way from able to nothing to master, the long way from nothing to quite good is not that hard to move. Its the last little way from good to excellent, that is really hard.

@kingwillie206 Жыл бұрын
And that person you believe was “born with a better voice” has been singing since before they can remember. Those are the people who have musicians as parents or had an affinity for it as a toddler. Go find a 40 year old who has never had any interest in singing and see how much “better” their voice is.
